The traffic light turned green, and the black sedan, less than 100 meters from the hospital, suddenly made a U-turn and drove in the exact opposite direction from the hospital.

“Young Master, the people from the Fujita family haven’t followed us.”

The car left the main urban area and entered the coastal municipal tunnel. After checking the rearview mirror several times, Xing Shi reported to the young master in the back seat.

Xing Cheng remained silent.

He raised his right hand, slowly spread his five fingers, and was carefully examining the back of his hand.

Slender, elongated, and sickly pale.

Under the dim tunnel lights, the bluish veins were clearly visible.

It was this one hand that imprisoned the young doctor in such a small space. It was as if with just a little force, it could easily snap his neck.

Knowing full well that he was ill and that his episodes would be terrifying, he still dared to lock the bathroom door from the inside, cooperating with his own absurd one-man show.

Ungrateful wretch.

Xing Cheng held his breath, suppressing the sudden surge of agitation in his heart.

The car drove silently through the tunnel, the back of the car dimly lit.

He raised his wrist, turned his palm upwards, lightly gripped his neck with his five fingers, and then tightened his grip forcefully.

Xing Cheng felt a strong sense of suffocation as his fingernails dug into his skin, accompanied by a stinging pain in his neck.

He leaned back against the back seat of the car, his pale neck tilted slightly upward, a surge of unbearable pleasure rising in his chest.

The frightened prey could not escape and could only watch helplessly as the monster in front of it opened its sharp teeth and devoured it alive.

Was the reason that he was so excited about the futile resistance and the pleasure of watching his prey struggle in his hands?

No, that was not the case.

Before the prey lost consciousness, he saw the intense will to survive in its eyes.

Because of his difficulty breathing, his eyes were gradually rolling upwards, but his hands were still trying to pry his palms open. Those eyes, filled with the pain of suffocation, repeatedly met his gaze, as if telling him:

Mr. Xing.

You’re not a monster, you don’t want to hurt me.

It was the vitality that burst forth from that person’s body in an instant, and that look in his eyes that was determined to fight against fate to the very end, that pulled him back from the brink of evil.

Sunlight streamed in obliquely from the tunnel entrance. Xing Cheng was a little unaccustomed to the change from darkness to light, so he squinted and slowly loosened his grip on his neck.

The hard-won pleasure vanished in an instant, leaving him feeling utterly empty inside.

He couldn’t recapture the emotions of last night despite trying again and again.

“Young Master, we’ll be there in just two blocks.”

Just as they were about to leave the tunnel, Xing Shi gave a soft reminder.

He didn’t notice Xing Cheng’s actions just now, only thinking that perhaps because he had just fallen ill, the young master was more silent than usual today.

“Give that doctor double the compensation,” Xing Cheng said. “We’ll process my discharge next week.”

Xing Shi turned around in surprise: “Young Master, your leg has not fully recovered yet. The rehabilitation department said it will take at least another half month before we can consider discharge.”

Xing Shi was inwardly groaning.

The young master’s legs were still not fully functional, and his mental health issues had not improved much. Discharging him now would be detrimental to his physical recovery, which was one reason.

Secondly, Chairman Xing had specifically instructed them to delay as long as possible, and to keep the young master in the hospital for as long as possible.

If the eldest young master were to return to his ancestral home now, the four most notorious figures of the Xing family in this generation would gather together and likely turn the hard-won stable situation upside down once again.

Xing Cheng’s face remained expressionless as he slowly uttered a single sentence: “Do as I say.”

“……Yes.”

After giving Xing Shi his instructions, Xing Cheng closed his eyes.

He knew that Xing Shi was thinking of him.

Xing Shi and his men were all left behind by his mother, and now they were also Xing Jingshan’s confidants. So none of them would have any disloyal intentions towards him.

But he was destined to be unable to continue like this.

If he lingered in a land of ease and comfort for too long, his claws and teeth would surely be worn down, turning him into a caged beast that could be manipulated at will.

He was a monster who would live in darkness forever, a snowman built of cold winds and snow, who would be scorched by the scorching heat if he saw even a little light.

The road ahead widened, and Xing Shi stepped on the gas. The black sedan left the tunnel and drove into the light.

As the morning light streamed through the car window, Xing Cheng gradually pictured the little doctor’s puffed-up face in his mind.

Not to mention, if he were to be blatantly exposed to such people.

It was blinding.

Those who yearned too much to stand in the sunlight would one day melt into a puddle of mud.

Then he thought, “Never mind.”

….

A black sedan drove into the parking lot in front of the Haibo Shipbuilding building. The security guard at the entrance saw the Xing family logo on the front of the car and quickly dialled the switchboard.

“Hello, is this Secretary Gao?”

“A car from Bayview Group pulled up at the entrance; they’re probably here to see General Manager Xing—”

After hanging up the landline, Secretary Gao hurriedly took the elevator to the top floor in her high heels, the heels clicking loudly on the glass floor.

As soon as she arrived at the CEO’s office door, she heard a few pitiful, soft moans through the door.

“A Yu, no, don’t touch there…”

“How dare you call me A Yu?”

A mocking male voice came from inside the door: “It’s one thing for my brother to call me that, but you think you’re worthy?”

Immediately following was the sound of a belt being whipped, and the boy inside the door let out a scream, beginning to sob and apologize: “Mr. Xing, I’m so sorry! I misspoke, Mr. Xing…”

Based on the fact that they had arrived in a car provided by the Bayview Group, Secretary Gao was fairly certain that the visitor must be one of the members of the Xing family.

The Xing family members were all incredibly powerful, and no one could afford to be disrespectful to them. But the boss was currently in high spirits, and even if she had a thousand lives, she wouldn’t dare go in and ruin things.

After sending a message to the boss’s phone, Secretary Gao quickly prepared to go downstairs to greet the guests and buy him some time.

But before she even reached the elevator entrance, the elevator doors had already slowly opened to both sides.

A bodyguard in black stepped out of the elevator, pushing a wheelchair in front of him.

Upon seeing the person in the wheelchair, Secretary Gao’s eyes widened, and she nearly lost her balance.

After a few seconds of stunned silence, she finally snapped out of her shock and stammered:

“Young Master Xing…”

Secretary Gao’s heart skipped a beat.

Even if it were Chairman Xing or Old Master Xing himself who came, she could still smooth things over for the boss. Who would have thought that the person who came would actually be the eldest son of the Xing family, the boss’s older brother whom he hated with a passion?

With his hands resting on the handlebars of his wheelchair, Xing Cheng spoke casually:

“Long time no see, Miss Gao.”
