When Fu Ke arrived at the villa she had bought earlier, she sensed a fluctuation. Holding Ya Ya, she stood at the gate and looked at the skinny man and Qiu Yi, saying, “Let’s wait a bit before going in.”

The zombie that had been guarding the villa had advanced again and was about to become a fifth-tier zombie. It was best not to disturb it now.

However, Fu Ke stood at the gate lost in thought.

Suddenly, she turned to look at Lan Zhi, who was still a third-tier zombie but was about to enter the fourth tier. She suddenly had an idea: “Do you think that the ultimate evolution of zombies might actually be turning back into humans?”

Lan Zhi looked somewhat bewildered, making a hoarse sound.

He didn’t know either. If the ultimate evolution was turning back into humans, then why did they become zombies, who were hostile to humans?

Thinking of the mature crystal cores in the space, Fu Ke had an idea. What Lan Zhi said was indeed true. If the ultimate evolution of zombies was turning back into humans, then why did they become zombies in the first place?

Fu Ke didn’t know the answer to this question either, but now, apart from her blood-red eyes, she was no different from a human.

After a long while, the fluctuations finally subsided, but for Lan Zhi, there was a suffocating aura emanating towards them. However, he wasn’t a mindless zombie, and he quickly suppressed his discomfort.

Fu Ke pushed open the door and went inside. Clearly, there were zombies guarding the place, and with the maze Fu Ke had set up using his mental power, no one had come here for quite some time.

“It needs to be cleaned up before anyone can live here, it’s probably moldy after all this time.” Fu Ke went in to take a look, and then a shadow swiftly pounced over, its target the skinny man.

“Stop.” Fu Ke gave a soft shout, and the zombie immediately stopped, its blood-red eyes actually flashing with joy. It seemed to still recognize Fu Ke.

“Roar—” the zombie roared excitedly.

“Xiao Bai, it seems very excited to see you?” the skinny man said.

This zombie, which had many wounds on its body before, had all healed now, but its face was still frighteningly pale, and its blood-red eyes didn’t look so good anymore.

Ya Ya nervously gripped Fu Ke’s clothes, feeling that this zombie was much more terrifying than Lan Zhi.

“What’s its name?” The skinny man chuckled, teasing the zombie with his large sword. However, because of Fu Ke, the zombie’s blood-red eyes stared intently at the skinny man without saying a word.

Fu Ke glanced at the skinny man: “I don’t know its name.”

After saying that, Fu Ke already knew what the skinny man was going to do.

Sure enough, the skinny man sized up the zombie: “It’s all black and filthy… let’s call it Xiao Hei!”

“…” Fu Ke suddenly remembered when the skinny man named her in her previous life, he seemed to have said: “Wearing a white dress, and not dirty at all, let’s call it Xiao Bai.”

She rolled her eyes and said to the skinny man: “Whatever makes you happy.”

The skinny man also thought of when he met Xiao Bai before, and immediately grinned: “I’ll go upstairs and tidy it up.” He put the large sword into his spatial storage and strode up the stairs.

Fu Ke also went into the kitchen to tidy up. The kitchen in the small villa looked very comfortable and spacious, much more functional than the kitchen of the exclusive restaurant.

The speculation that zombies would eventually evolve into humans was merely Fu Ke’s own conjecture.

Whether that would actually happen, Fu Ke truly didn’t know. But since she had nothing else to do, she might as well give it a try. However, if she were to try, the crystal cores wouldn’t be a problem, but this small villa was too small.

She’d wait until Lan Sheng and Lu Xun arrived before discussing it.

The two children sat on the sofa playing games on their tablets. The skinny man, having tidied up the upstairs, came down and immediately saw the newly hatched Xiao Hei.

He felt a pang of nostalgia; although Xiao Hei wasn’t as good as the previous Xiao Bai, it wasn’t too different from Xiao Bai in his past life.

“Xiao Hei, come here!” the skinny man said with a sly grin, waving repeatedly.

Before meeting Fu Ke, Xiao Hei had bitten people, but after meeting Fu Ke, it ate pork, and after Fu Ke left, it wasn’t fed anymore. But it didn’t eat people either, instead eating crystal cores like Fu Ke.

Now, having advanced to a fifth-tier zombie, Xiao Hei had regained consciousness, but it was still somewhat dazed. And it couldn’t speak, but seeing the skinny man beckoning, it understood that the skinny man wanted it to come over.

However, Xiao Hei bared its teeth and roared, “Roar—” then turned its head away, ignoring the skinny man. Fu Ke told it to stop, and Xiao Hei cleverly realized that Fu Ke didn’t want it to hurt these people, so it memorized their scents.

But Xiao Hei clearly remembered that the skinny man had just teased it with a big sword, so it didn’t want to pay any attention to the skinny man.

“Hey, little brat. Don’t think I don’t know you understand what I mean.” The skinny man immediately laughed. This Xiao Hei had quite a temper, not giving him any face at all.

Xiao Hei’s blood-red eyes darkened slightly as it looked at Lan Zhi: “Roar…”

Actually, Xiao Hei’s vocal cords had fully recovered, and it could speak. But it was confused and didn’t know how to speak, so it still roared.

Lan Zhi, who was also a zombie, understood what it was trying to express. But if Lan Zhi were Xiao Hei, it could speak, however the current Lan Zhi had previous memories, and its vocal cords were damaged and hadn’t recovered yet.

Hearing Xiao Hei’s subconscious command, Lan Zhi’s lips twitched slightly. His blood-red eyes fixed on Xiao Hei, he suddenly raised his hand and smacked Xiao Hei hard on the back of the head.

Xiao Hei was completely taken aback; a zombie two levels lower than him dared to attack him. Stunned, he stared blankly at Lan Zhi.

The skinny guy, watching this scene, burst into unrestrained laughter, practically rolling on the ground.

Qiu Yi, playing games with Ya Ya, glanced at the skinny guy and immediately wanted to cover his eyes, not wanting to see such an idiot. How could he have thought of the skinny guy as his master before?

Ugh.

This guy is just an idiot.

“Brother, what’s wrong with Uncle Skinny?” Ya Ya bit her finger, tilting her head to look at the skinny guy who was laughing so hard he was almost gasping for breath.

“He’s having a fit,” Qiu Yi said calmly, then told Ya Ya, “Stay away from him in the future, lest you catch it.”

“Huh?” Ya Ya asked, bewildered.

Qiu Yi patted her head and remained silent.

Xiao Hei was stunned for a moment, then, in a fit of rage, bared its teeth and lunged at Lan Zhi.

A black aura emanated from Lan Zhi, and Xiao Hei’s claws were instantly corroded upon contact, even its fingertips were partially corroded.

“Roar—” Xiao Hei immediately retreated, looking at its claws, then at Lan Zhi, its eyes flashing with fear.

Lan Zhi’s face displayed an expression that could be described as a smile, though it looked quite ferocious.

Although he was only a third-tier zombie, he was different from ordinary zombies. To order him around right away? Did they really think he was easy to bully?

The skinny man looked at Lan Zhi strangely. He remembered that Lan Zhi in his previous life seemed to be a psychic. What was this black aura? Could he also be a dual-elemental ability user?

He remembered that when he first met Lan Zhi, he had also used black aura to corrode the vines.

Seemingly noticing the skinny man watching him, Lan Zhi turned his head, his blood-red eyes scrutinizing him.

“What are you doing?” Fu Ke came out carrying dishes. At such close range, it would be strange if she hadn’t noticed what had just happened.

However, she simply asked as if she knew nothing.

“Nothing, Xiao Bai, what have you made? It smells so good.” The skinny man sniffed hard and ran over to help Fu Ke carry the dishes.

“What is this?” The skinny man brought out a plate of chopped meat from the kitchen. The aroma made his mouth water. Suddenly, he thought it wasn’t so bad that Xiao Bai had been reborn.

He raised Xiao Bai, or Xiao Bai raised him. Wasn’t it all the same?

The skinny man swallowed the drool that was about to spill out.

Fu Ke put the plate on the table: “Qiu Yi, stop playing around and go help carry the things.” After saying that, Fu Ke took out a knife and fork from her spatial storage. Luckily, she collected whatever she could find. Anyway, her spatial storage was very spacious, so she didn’t feel like she couldn’t fit everything. Basically, if she needed something temporarily, she could take it out from her spatial storage.

“That’s grilled eel[1] you’re holding. I made it in the oven. Luckily, I bought a generator for the villa before, otherwise I really wouldn’t know how to make it.” Fu Ke took the grilled eel from the skinny man after setting out the knife and fork.

The skinny man looked reluctant as the grilled eel was taken away.

“…” Why does it look like a life-or-death separation?

Grilled eel, red wine foie gras[2], steak, fruit salad, and pasta.

After everything was placed on the table, it was a dazzling array, making one’s eyes dazzled.

Ya Ya looked curiously at the things on the table that she had never seen before, biting her finger, not knowing how to eat.

“Dirty.” Qiu Yi took Ya Ya’s finger out of her mouth.

….

Glorious Base.

In a small house, Lan Sheng and his group were bound tightly as if they were trapped like dumplings. They were only allowed to have food once a day which was brought by children, and even then they were not untied. The children would feed them.

It was as if they were feeding animals. They were only fed one meal a day, and they were not even full. They were already dizzy from hunger.

“Human nature, human hearts.” Lan Sheng suddenly laughed, and the few people in the quiet little house all looked at him.

Lan Sheng looked at them, “Isn’t that right? You were all on guard, thinking that Fu Ke was a zombie, so she would be harmful to you. You thought that Lan Zhi, having become a zombie, was no longer the Lan Zhi you used to be. But look, they didn’t harm you; instead, they harmed us, the people we rescued.”

Song Jing seemed to want to say something, but she turned her head away awkwardly, not uttering a word.

“Lan Sheng, say less. What should we do now? They’re ignoring us, and it doesn’t seem like they’re investigating, but they don’t seem to intend to starve us either,” Xiao Heng said.

Indeed, although they had spent the whole day hungry, they were given food every day, so they really didn’t intend to starve them.

“What else can we do? We’re tied up and can’t move. We’re not like them, with superpowers. We’re fish on the chopping block now, what else can we do?” Lin Lizhong shouted in despair.

“They don’t seem to intend to kill us yet, but they also don’t seem to be investigating,” Song Jing said calmly. “We don’t know what they really mean, but as long as they haven’t decided to kill us, that’s a good thing.”

“Yes, don’t be discouraged. As long as we’re alive, we can definitely escape,” Song Fei said, looking at his sister and trying to boost morale so everyone wouldn’t lose heart.

Wei Yu pursed his lips tightly and whispered, “Sister Jing, I miss the captain.”

Suddenly, the small room fell silent again.

In this silence, the door suddenly moved. Immediately, the people in the small room looked at each other. In the darkness, no one could see anyone else’s expression, but they were all tense.

Because meals were almost always delivered around noon, the door was never opened at other times.

The door opened a crack, a dark figure flashed in, and then the door closed. With someone entering, rapid breathing could be heard.

Clearly, they were nervous.

A small beam of light appeared in the darkness, revealing a thin, pale-faced child. He seemed relieved upon seeing the group of people inside.

Lan Sheng and the others were stunned. This was the child who brought them food. He delivered food almost every day. The child approached, knife in hand.

Wei Yu, tense and wary, asked, “What are you going to do!”

The child didn’t answer; his first target was Wei Yu.

“No, no! Don’t come any closer!” Wei Yu cried out, his face pale with fear, shrinking back in terror. But bound tightly, he couldn’t move far despite his efforts.

“Don’t touch him! If you have to touch someone, touch me!” Song Fei said.

The child glanced at Song Fei, said nothing, and just took out duct tape from his pocket, sealing their mouths shut one by one
