On the way there, Jiang Lan gave him a general introduction to the Demon Management Bureau and related regulations, and Xiao Hei realized that now was no longer the era when the big demons being called kings in the mountains, and now all the demon clans were under the unified jurisdiction of the Demon Management Bureau, so they had to accept socialist education, and abide by socialist laws.

The Jiangcheng Demon Management Bureau was about five or six stations away from the community. The two took the subway there. When they arrived in front of the administrative building of the Demon Management Bureau, Xiao Hei was amazed and sighed. Holding Jiang Lan’s arms, he looked around curiously.

Jiang Lan took him to register in a familiar way.

This administrative building was used by both humans and demons. Half belonged to the Demon Management Bureau, and the other half belonged to the Special Human Management Bureau. The Demon Management Bureau and the Special Human Management Bureau were at the same level, and both were under the direct jurisdiction of the central security department. This was the result of the joint efforts of the two races, and it was also the source of the peaceful coexistence between the demon race and the human race.

The lobby on the first floor had the office, with ten windows in red and blue. The red windows handled the affairs of the demon race, and the blue windows handled the affairs of the human immortals.

Jiang Lan briefly introduced Xiao Hei and took him to the first window to line up. It may be due to today being a holiday, but there were many people lined up at each window. There were well-dressed upper-class elites, and shabby low-level goblins, but no matter rich or poor, everyone was lining up honestly.

Xiao Hei couldn’t see through the roots of these people, but he knew instinctively that these were demons. There was also a queue for the blue window on the other side, and there were fewer people there than this side, but the aura that emanated from there made him instinctively feel danger and fear. He couldn’t help but stick next to Jiang Lan.

The window was very efficient, and they quickly reached the head of the queue.

The clerk was stunned for a moment when he saw Jiang Lan, then he stood up immediately, and said cautiously and panickedly: “Why are you queuing here? Do you need us to arrange someone to receive you?”

Jiang Lan was not surprised by such a situation. All the demon races who knew his roots were so cautious and fearful of him. Even though tens of thousands of years had passed, the legend of the gluttonous beast was still circulating and was feared by people.

“No need.”

Jiang Lan showed a kind smile: “I accompanied a friend to register. He has not changed his form for a long time, and he doesn’t understand many rules. I guess you have to work hard to train him.”

The clerk was a bear demon, he didn’t expect the famous beast Taotie to be so kind, so he was stunned for a moment then he quickly nodded, took out a form and asked Xiao Hei to fill it out, and after filling it out, he told Jiang Lan to wait aside, and he personally took Xiao Hei to apply for an ID card.

After getting out of Taotie’s gaze, the bear demon quietly breathed a sigh of relief. The sixth floor above the head was the office area of the special service team. They had long heard that the big demon who came to the special service team a year ago was said to be Taotie, whose human name was Jiang Lan. Regardless of among humans or demons, gossip always spread quickly in the office. Although there was no real evidence, everyone would inevitably be more polite when they saw Jiang Lan.

The big demons in the secret service team were not good in character, not to mention the gluttonous beast who was famous for its brutal cannibalism.

But seeing it with his own eyes today, the bear demon felt that the gossip was really unreliable. He whispered to his colleague, “That…is he really Taotie? Why does he seem to have a good temper?”

The colleague was entering Xiao Hei’s information as he said casually: “You don’t care, you just need to know that the special service team is not easy to mess with. Even if they look kind on the surface, if you offend someone, you will disappear in a few minutes?”

The bear demon flinched at the words, shrunk his head, then let out a dry “oh”. He heard his colleague call Xiao Hei’s name:

“Name.”

“Yao Xiaohei.”

Seeing his silly look, he lowered his head and continued. But he thought in his heart, how did such a timid bird demon know Taotie? Could it be that the rumors were wrong?     …

….

After recording the information, the bear demon came out with Yao Xiaohei, and said: “You take the form, and you will get your ID card in ten days. There will be a training session then.”

Yao Xiaohei was still a little dizzy, so he looked at Jiang Lan with half understanding: “Is this all right?”

Jiang Lan patted him on the shoulder: “Well, from now on, you will be a demon living legally. Once you have an ID card, even if you live in human society, it’s fine to find a job.”

Yao Xiaohei’s eyes lit up, and he stammered excitedly: “Then, can I go and see Uncle Yao? I… I can be his son!”

Jiang Lan just smiled: “It’s not impossible for Uncle Yao to be willing.”

“Then I have to find a way to make Uncle Yao recognize me as his son.” Yao Xiaohei touched his head and said with a silly smile.

….

Ying Qiao came out of the elevator holding the human-faced and cow-shaped Yayu[1]. When he passed the corridor, his eyes glanced at the downstairs hall unintentionally, and his footsteps paused.

——In the lobby on the first floor, the little demon of the lion clan who had just parted from him not long ago was standing intimately next to another demon, and the two walked out talking and laughing.

He stared down for a long time, and Tai Feng looked down inexplicably, but found nothing unusual.

“What’s the matter?”

Ying Qiao looked back lightly, didn’t answer, but squinted his eyes and kicked the not-so-quiet Yayu: “Be honest, if you get restless, I’ll chop you up and feed you to the pigs.”

The tied up Yayu let out an angry roar, his voice was as shrill as a baby crying, shaking the ceiling and the ground of the ninth floor slightly. However, the lively hall was not affected at all, as if there was something invisible separating the upstairs from the downstairs.

But even so, Ying Qiao’s complexion still became very bad. He looked indifferently at Yayu who dared to provoke him, suddenly raised his hand and snapped off a horn on its head, then stuffed it into Yayu’s mouth with a smile, forcing it to swallow.

“Still barking?”

Yayu choked up suddenly: “…”

No, stop barking.

Seeing him suddenly change his face, Tai Feng looked downstairs curiously, why he who was fine just now, had he changed his face, as if he had reached menopause.

But he didn’t dare to say this in front of Ying Qiao. He coughed and reminded: “The others are already waiting, let’s go first.” He gave Yayu a kick, and said coldly, “Go forward.”

Yayu: “…”

I didn’t call out, why did I still get beaten?

The author has something to say:

Ying Qiao: Although it’s fake, it doesn’t work if it’s green.

Jiang Lan:???

….

窫窳: yàyǔ

[There is a beast named Yan, whose shape is like a cow, but naked, with a human face and horse feet. It is called 窫窳, and its sound is like a baby.]
