Tang Tang went into the room to get her needle and thread, then found a set of Ji Xiaozhuo’s clothes and dressed Wen Nuo in them.

The two children were about the same height, but the clothes that fit Ji Xiaozhuo perfectly were loose on Wen Nuo. Besides Ji Xiaozhuo being chubby, Wen Nuo was also too thin.

Ji Xiaozhuo compared her arm to Wen Nuo’s and then said to her earnestly, “Nuo Nuo, you need to gain some weight in the future. Girls who are too thin will get sick, just like Mommy.”

Wen Nuo immediately nodded.

Tang Tang chuckled and poked Ji Xiaozhuo’s head, then altered the clothes to fit the little girl better. She finished altering them in less than an hour and dressed the little girl in them again.

The little girl stared intently at her clothes, carefully jumped around, and found that her pants wouldn’t fall down. She grinned, hugged Tang Tang’s leg, and rubbed against her like Ji Xiaozhuo, silently thanking her.

Tang Tang patted her little face, “Okay, now our Nuo Nuo is even prettier, go show it to Xiao Zhuo.”

Wen Nuo happily ran out to show Ji Xiaozhuo, who immediately put his hands behind his back and praised with a smile, “Nuo Nuo, your clothes look so good now, hehe…”

Wen Nuo pointed behind Ji Xiaozhuo.

Ji Xiaozhuo chuckled and took out the model he had been putting together. In the short time he had been working on it, he had already pieced it together into a mess, a perfect example of making things worse than helping.

Ji Xiaozhuo scratched his head guiltily.

Wen Nuo, however, wasn’t angry at all. She took apart the parts Ji Xiaozhuo had messed up, put the correct pieces back in, and showed them to him after they were put back together, wanting him to know how to put them together correctly.

Unfortunately, Ji Xiaozhuo still couldn’t quite understand, making mistakes every time he tried. Finally, he frustratedly spread his arms and legs, completely unable to move. This was the first time Ji Xiaozhuo had been completely defeated in a contest of intelligence. Tang Tang watched from the side, amused. It was a peaceful and beautiful afternoon, and just like that, it passed.

When Ji Yan returned, Wen Nuo had already completed more than half of the huge and complex model. Tang Tang waved to him excitedly,

“Honey, look! Your model is almost finished! Our Nuo Nuo is so smart!”

Ji Yan knelt down beside her, patting Wen Nuo’s head approvingly, offering silent encouragement. Then he placed his hand on Tang Tang’s forehead, “Hmm, the fever’s gone.”

Tang Tang smiled sweetly and assured him, “I’m really better now. I promise I won’t get sick again!”

Ji Yan chuckled and asked, “Are you hungry? What do you want to eat tonight?”

Tang Tang then remembered that she hadn’t made dinner yet. She jumped up and ran to the kitchen, “Ah, I was so confused by my illness! I forgot to cook!”

Ji Yan had to stop this restless little woman, “I told you to rest these few days and I’d do it. How could you forget again? I’ll go.”

“Huh?” Tang Tang was surprised to see Ji Yan roll up his sleeves and go into the kitchen. She quickly followed him. “Honey, are you going to cook?”

Ji Yan rummaged through the refrigerator. “Don’t you believe I can cook?”

Tang Tang really didn’t believe him, but she didn’t dare to tell the truth.

“Heh.” Ji Yan took out some food from the refrigerator and gently pushed Tang Tang out. “Go out. You can’t smell the cooking fumes right now. I’ll be done in a bit.”

Tang Tang had no choice but to leave obediently to announce to the two little ones that Ji Yan would be cooking tonight. Wen Nuo didn’t react much, but Ji Xiaozhuo immediately had a very conflicted expression on his face. He tentatively asked Tang Tang, “Mom, is Dad’s cooking delicious?”

“Hmm…” Tang Tang thought for a moment. “It should be delicious. Your dad is so smart. He can do something as simple as cooking well, right?”

“Oh…” Ji Xiaozhuo turned his head away to continue watching Wen Nuo build his model. He didn’t tell his mother that he had eaten his dad’s fried rice before and had a vivid memory of it.

An hour later, the kitchen door finally opened, and Ji Yan came out carrying a bowl of boiled dumplings.

Tang Tang was puzzled; she clearly saw him bring out a lot of other dishes, so why were there boiled dumplings?

Ji Yan cleared his throat. “I think dumplings are more nutritious.”

“Oh.” Tang Tang didn’t suspect anything, but then she saw Ji Yan turn around and go back into the kitchen, coming out carrying a trash bag.

“Honey, where are you going?”

Ji Yan walked straight out the door without looking at her. “I’m going to take out the trash first, I’ll be right back to eat.”

Tang Tang felt that Ji Yan was acting strangely, but she didn’t delve into it. Since it was a rare treat to eat a meal cooked by him, she wanted to eat more tonight. So Tang Tang ate beyond her usual capacity; she could only eat about eight dumplings at most, but today she ate four in one go, so full that she started burping. Ji Xiaozhuo and Wen Nuo were also influenced and ate a lot more, and the two little ones also started burping.

Tang Tang covered her mouth embarrassedly. Ji Yan, on the other hand, was quite happy, hoping she would eat as much as possible.

Tang Tang thought Ji Yan was making fun of her, and explained softly, “It’s because your cooking is so delicious…”

Although he had only put ready-made dumplings in water to boil, her words still made Ji Yan very happy. He decided in his heart that he should practice his cooking skills more in the future. She seemed to particularly like his cooking, and if he cooked more, she could gain some weight.

For the first time, Ji Yan, who was always confident, failed to use his superior intelligence in cooking. The result was beyond his expectations, but Ji Yan was a typical academic genius. Facing difficulties head-on was a basic principle of his life, so he searched for recipes online, copied down all the information and steps in his notebook, and looked like he was working extremely seriously.

At least Tang Tang thought he was working seriously, so she sensibly asked Ji Xiaozhuo to play quietly so as not to disturb her father.

When it was time for bed, Tang Tang saw that Ji Yan was still not resting. Afraid that he would be too tired, she went into the bathroom to prepare a medicinal bath and came out to him, saying, “Honey, it’s getting late. Come and soak your feet and rest.” He loved soaking his feet.

Ji Yan finally snapped out of his “study-obsessed” mode, closed his laptop, and put it in the drawer. He saw Tang Tang about to roll up her sleeves to massage his feet, so he took her hand in his. “You’re not fully recovered yet, I can do it myself.”

“Massaging feet isn’t tiring, why can’t I do this? I’m not made of clay,” Tang Tang muttered, clearly wanting to help.

Ji Yan sighed and suddenly asked, “Can you soak your feet in this herbal bath?”

Tang Tang didn’t understand his question, but answered honestly, “Sure, except for children and the elderly who should use it with caution. Most people can use it, but it’s best for people with injuries.”

Ji Yan remembered that Tang Tang had injured her leg recently. Although it had healed, it had still caused some damage, and this herbal bath was suitable for her. So he simply pressed her down onto the stool, took off her slippers, and put her feet into the foot bath tub.

“Honey, what are you doing?” Tang Tang was caught off guard and stunned by the sudden foot bath.

“Soaking your feet? You can use it too.” Ji Yan said, putting his large foot in as well, their feet immediately pressed together, one big and one small, one dark and one white.

Tang Tang was stunned. Ji Yan’s foot seemed hotter than the water, making her feet feel burning and a little numb.

This was really too much… Tang Tang wanted to lift her foot, but Ji Yan pressed it down with his own. “Be a good girl and soak your feet, don’t move around.”

“I… this isn’t appropriate…” Tang Tang didn’t dare to look him in the eye.

“What’s inappropriate? Is there a problem with a husband and wife soaking their feet together?”

Tang Tang: “…” Normal couples certainly don’t have a problem, but is there no problem with them doing this?

Seeing her speechless, a smile flashed in Ji Yan’s eyes. His large foot remained firmly placed on her small foot, as if he had forgotten how big the foot bath was.

Ji Xiaozhuo looked up from his Candy Crush game and saw his father and mother soaking their feet together. Wasn’t this something he and his father used to do? Why were they soaking their feet but ignoring him?

Ji Xiaozhuo was unhappy and immediately rolled off the bed, about to jump into the foot bath without even removing his shoes. “I want to soak my feet too!”

Ji Yan quickly grabbed the little chubby boy by the collar to stop him from jumping in, then pulled him aside and said calmly, “Ji Xiaozhuo, I remember you haven’t done your military boxing practice tonight. Let’s start now.”

“No!” Ji Xiaozhuo covered his head. “Dad, I want to soak my feet with you and Mom, and then do the boxing.”

Ji Yan refused ruthlessly. “No, you do the boxing first, then soak your feet.”

Ji Xiaozhuo had no choice but to run to the side and quickly practice his boxing, performing it with great force and speed, much faster than usual. When he eagerly ran back to soak his feet, he found that his parents had already finished, his mother was even in bed, and his father had even prepared a new basin of water for him. “Come on, you soak your feet.”

Ji Xiaozhuo felt he had been greatly deceived in his life and looked at his father in disbelief. “Dad?”

Ji Yan calmly got into bed, picked up a book from the bedside table and opened it. “Hurry up and soak your feet, then go to sleep.”

Unable to rely on his father, Ji Xiaozhuo silently turned to look at his mother. His mother’s eyes flickered, filled with deep guilt: “Baby, I’m sorry, it was your father who insisted on drying my feet before rushing me to bed.”

Receiving his mother’s message, Ji Xiaozhuo pouted, silently walked to the foot bath tub, took off his shoes, and silently put his little feet into the hot water. Finally, he silently lowered his head to soak his feet, his expression conveying an indescribable loneliness and sadness of abandonment.

Tang Tang felt sorry for him and wanted to go down and comfort the little guy, but Ji Yan said indifferently, “You’re not allowed to go down. You’ve just recovered from being sick, what if you catch a cold again? Didn’t you promise me you’d never get sick again?”

Tang Tang could only obediently shrink into the covers, once again gazing at Ji Xiaozhuo with a guilty expression.

Seeing that he still hadn’t received any comfort from his mother, Ji Xiaozhuo became furious. His brows furrowed, and he let out a heavy “humph,” “I’m angry! I’m never talking to you again!”

Ji Yan nodded, “Fine, since you’re not going to talk to us, then you don’t need us to sleep with you tonight, right? Go sleep in the guest room by yourself.”

Ji Xiaozhuo’s eyes widened, and he was caught in a dilemma, turning his gaze to Tang Tang.

Tang Tang quickly tried to smooth things over, saying, “Baby’s still so young, he needs his parents to sleep with him. He’ll be scared sleeping alone.”

Just as Ji Xiaozhuo was about to accept this, Ji Yan interjected, “But he himself said he’s a man, so how could a man be afraid to sleep alone?”

If Ji Xiaozhuo stayed, it would be tantamount to admitting he wasn’t a man, which wouldn’t do. So the little guy wiped his feet clean, grabbed his pillow, and ran out, solemnly saying before he left, “I’m leaving!”

Ji Yan waved, “Go on.”

“I’m really leaving!”

“Hurry up, we need to sleep.”

“Honey…” Tang Tang secretly tugged at Ji Yan’s sleeve, “Don’t make baby angry.”

Ji Yan grabbed her hand, preventing her from moving, and said to the little guy still at the door, “Hurry up, we need to turn off the lights.”

His eagerness for him to leave finally made Ji Xiaozhuo so angry that he ran away without looking back, and the door slammed shut.

“Honey, what are you doing?” Tang Tang finally panicked and got up to chase after the little one.

Seeing this, Ji Yan grabbed her and pressed her down, the two of them very close, their eyes meeting, their breaths mingling.

Tang Tang tensed instantly, her words stuttering again: “What…what are you doing?”

Ji Yan’s voice was a little hoarse, “Tang Tang, I have something to tell you.”

“Wh…what is it?” Tang Tang swallowed, suddenly feeling a strong urge to drink water.

“Actually, when you were sick, I realized I—” However, just as Ji Yan was about to utter his most crucial words, the door to the room was suddenly pushed open with a “bang,” and a little chubby boy, clutching a pillow, quickly jumped up, landing between Ji Yan and Tang Tang. To protect Tang Tang from being crushed, Ji Yan had to bear the full force of the little chubby boy’s impact, his stomach churning as if he were about to vomit.

The author has something to say:

It’s not my fault for being interrupted…it’s Ji Xiaozhuo’s fault for really messing with me.
