Gu Wuji didn’t even notice Zhai Guangyu’s words.

Only after the other players had left the instance did Gu Wuji finally relax, his consciousness immediately immersing in a strange state, unable to notice anything else.

As if some voice was guiding him, Gu Wuji’s vision was fixed on the water before him. The bottomless, dark depths should have been terrifying, but he felt a faint urge to enter them.

“What is this…”

His body felt like it wasn’t his own; instinctively, he reached out towards the water, and the mark on the back of his hand burst forth with a blinding light.

Gu Wuji’s body was instantly swallowed by a huge wave, surrounded by water. In that instant, a figure rushed towards him— it was the fanatical young man from before.

“You actually—” Gu Wuji then realized that this guy probably hadn’t left at all, but he didn’t have time to care. Both of them were swept into the water by an irresistible force.

After a series of violent shakings, Gu Wuji’s mind was hazy, his body powerless, and he could only float aimlessly in the water, not even noticing why he could breathe underwater.

The water rushing past him felt like a gentle hand embracing him, but Gu Wuji’s subconscious kept sounding alarm bells, preventing him from being completely seduced and losing consciousness. He suddenly snapped back to reality.

“How dangerous! The water here is definitely not ordinary water; it might not even have a physical form,” Gu Wuji thought warily. He had almost been completely bewitched.

Zhai Guangyu’s soul had already hidden itself the moment Gu Wuji was swept into the water. He didn’t have the courage to face any evil god boss head-on; even if he was going to die, he wanted to die peacefully!

Gu Wuji looked around. It was pitch black all around, and countless ghosts floated in the water. These ghosts all had their eyes closed, seemingly sleeping peacefully in the water, appearing almost indistinguishable from living people at first glance.

But the more they looked like this, the more chilling the scene became.

What Gu Wuji didn’t know was that if anyone else had arrived at this moment, these ghosts would have already become agitated and would never have allowed an outsider to enter so easily.

The mark on the back of Gu Wuji’s hand made all the beings in this space believe that he originally belonged here, so it didn’t attract any attention from the ghosts inside.

“If these ghosts all wake up, things will probably be troublesome…” Gu Wuji pondered the terrible situation that might occur. As for the fanatical young man who had been dragged in, there was nothing he could do. Although Gu Wuji wanted to save him, he couldn’t stop him from going to his death. Perhaps that fanatical young man was pursuing the same fate as these ghosts, to sleep forever in this water. He was probably as happy as if it were New Year’s Day now that he was here.

“However, if I really succeed, I don’t know if this place will even exist anymore.”

Gu Wuji hadn’t forgotten his ultimate goal— to seal the evil god boss inside his body to suppress the powerful ghost that already existed within him, whose strength was even at the level of a ghost king. In this way, the two ghosts would be in balance, and the problem could be solved once and for all.

At least that would be the best-case scenario. Moreover, from the very beginning, Gu Wuji felt the sleeping ghost sealed within him constantly stirring. If he didn’t hurry, it would all be over once it woke up.

The water was extremely still, and Gu Wuji’s body slowly rose with the current, getting closer and closer to the depths.

By this time, the number of ghosts around him had greatly decreased, and many dark, twisted shadows appeared in the water. Gu Wuji realized that he seemed to be surrounded by shadows without even noticing.

“This doesn’t seem good.” Gu Wuji observed his surroundings and, upon closer inspection, saw that these shadows were spreading out from the center of the water’s bottom, practically part of a gigantic monster.

Gu Wuji tentatively touched the surrounding shadows, and the once calm water instantly surged with undercurrents. Then a pair of enormous eyes slowly opened in the center of the shadows, looking in Gu Wuji’s direction.

That gaze was almost tangible, making it difficult for Gu Wuji to move. Moreover, meeting such terrifying eyes at such close range was incredibly oppressive; even Gu Wuji’s heart couldn’t help but race, and he couldn’t help but take a deep breath to calm himself.

If it were anyone else here, they would probably have been so overwhelmed by this aura that they would have knelt down and submitted to the boss on the spot. Even Zhai Guangyu, who was hiding, felt his hair stand on end and was too scared to move. He felt increasingly pained about why he had chosen to associate with Gu Wuji, this ancestor.

However, Zhai Guangyu also sensed that something was wrong. Why did Gu Wuji arrive at the location of such a big boss so easily? Anyone else would probably be covered in wounds by the time they finally made it in, and it would be a miracle if they were still alive! But Gu Wuji came in as if he were taking a stroll. This… is this truly Gu Wuji?

Gu Wuji himself didn’t think too much about it and asked the system, “Can I use the Ghost Control Technique on the evil god boss now?”

[Because the target is too strong, the player must at least find the location of the target’s true form before using the Ghost Control Technique.]

“What?” Gu Wuji was a little surprised. Even now, he still hadn’t found the real body. How was he supposed to find it? However, what the system said made sense. From the beginning, he hadn’t felt that these phantoms had much of a real presence.

How could he find the true form of the evil god boss?

At that moment, Gu Wuji looked down and saw the mark on the back of his hand. He immediately took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and felt the aura contained within the mark that had always been inside his body.

After sinking his consciousness into the location of the mark, he subconsciously sensed a change in his surroundings. His body instinctively moved forward, passing through warm water, and he instinctively opened his eyes.

….

What Gu Wuji saw was blue sky, white clouds, and azure sea.

A sea breeze blew by, and Gu Wuji felt somewhat confused. He felt he had forgotten something. Looking around, he realized he was standing on a luxury cruise ship.

“What was I supposed to do?” Gu Wuji couldn’t remember anything, only feeling as if he was meant to be here.

He wandered aimlessly around the ship.

Everything on the ship was excellent, with various well-equipped facilities, and the other guests were very friendly and welcoming.

Gu Wuji almost completely forgot about that feeling of disharmony.

But then, a waiter rushed over and bumped into him in a hurry.

“Are you alright?” The other person suddenly helped Gu Wuji up.

“I’m fine,” Gu Wuji said, but after being touched, his entire body felt unusually cold. The comfortable environment he had just felt instantly gave him an indescribable sense of unease.

“You don’t look too good.” The blond waiter looked at Gu Wuji with concern, helping him to the railing. “Are you seasick?”

“I…” Gu Wuji looked down at the water, his mind suddenly feeling as if it had been pricked by needles. He could clearly see the dark mist at the bottom of the water.

Yes! He had only entered the space where the evil god boss was!

After Gu Wuji realized this, everything around him vanished into thin air, leaving only the figure supporting him.

Gu Wuji was belatedly drenched in cold sweat. He looked down and saw the mark on the back of his hand had spread to most of his body, unsure what would happen if he continued.

“Thank you,” Gu Wuji said, looking at the blond waiter beside him— it was none other than Austin.

“It’s nothing,” Austin replied. “I just sensed something was wrong. I’ve been investigating this place, and sure enough, it was as dangerous as I suspected. So I infiltrated this space and came out when I sensed something was amiss. Luckily, the ghosts here didn’t notice anything…”

After all, Austin had been working for the evil god boss, so the ghosts probably thought he was their colleague.

After speaking, Austin’s body became mostly transparent; clearly, risking his life to warn Gu Wuji had exhausted most of his strength.

“Oh no, I can’t hold on any longer. I might just fall into a deep sleep.” Austin immediately hid inside the pocket watch Gu Wuji was carrying, and said one last thing to Gu Wuji, “You must be careful, he will never allow you to leave this world—”

After saying this, Austin fell silent, having lost consciousness.

Gu Wuji was still shrouded in mist, but he had a subconscious feeling that the evil god boss’s true form was not far away.

“This is it.”

[Because the opponent’s level is a Ghost King or higher, the player’s level was originally insufficient to use it, but because the player and the boss have a connection, the situation has changed. In short, using the Ghost Control Technique will come at a great cost to the player. Are you sure you want to use it?]

So this evil god boss’s level was even higher than the ghost inside his body. He could only barely use the Ghost Control Technique because he had a connection with it. What would happen if he sealed it inside his body…? But now there was no time for regret. No matter what, he had to seal it first. So he immediately said, “I’m sure.”

After Gu Wuji finished speaking, he instantly felt as if he had suddenly woken up from his dazed state. After opening his eyes, everything around him came into view.

Gu Wuji then noticed that he was in a huge hand. This hand had closed up and completely grasped him, as if it could crush Gu Wuji with one more force.

But Gu Wuji was now filled with a confidence he had never had when he was outside.

Under the Ghost Control Technique, he could make a request that the evil god boss could not refuse within thirty seconds, which was why he was still able to stand here safely.

So Gu Wuji took a deep breath and said something that would terrify anyone else if they heard it: “Please, come into my body.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the surrounding darkness began to move. Not only the hand holding Gu Wuji, but even the black shadows of the entire world around him turned into mist and surged toward Gu Wuji’s body.
