“System, should I follow the original owner’s best strategy?” Li Yuebai asked.

Mu Qingning had once suggested a best strategy: to wage war against Yu Tianliu. However, it was not implemented because it violated his code of conduct.

“You can consider it,” the system replied cautiously. “Host, I am not human and do not understand human struggles very well. I cannot give you the best advice. However, since the original owner said it was the best strategy, it must be correct.”

“Although I am not as compassionate as the original owner, I am not a war enthusiast either. I do not want to start another war unless absolutely necessary,” Li Yuebai said. “Moreover… I just realized that my current situation is different from the original owner’s.”

“How is it different?”

“I have more time,” Li Yuebai said. “According to the original plot, twenty days after defeating the Demonic Sect, Yu Tianliu’s army besieged the city. The original owner had to deal with it hastily. At that time, the best strategy was of course to start a war.”

“Yes.”

“But now… what time is it now?” Li Yuebai felt dizzy and could only ask the system.

“You have been asleep for a whole day. It is now one day after defeating the Demonic Sect,” the system replied.

“In other words, I have nineteen days to come up with a new strategy,” Li Yuebai said. “And I know everything about the future plot in advance… This situation is already incredibly advantageous. If I can’t come up with a better plan, I’ll be letting down the original owner.”

“But host, nineteen days isn’t a long time; it’s still very tight,” the system reminded him.

“Yes…” Li Yuebai sighed inwardly. “If I can’t find a better strategy, then when Yu Tianliu arrives, I’ll naturally persuade the Immortal Lord to send troops to fight.”

“The host seems to have a lot of confidence in Yu Tianji.”

“Of course, he’s quite capable; we can’t underestimate him.” Li Yuebai felt half relieved and half doubtful when he thought of Yu Tianji. He was relieved because this person was clearly different from the original plot; seemingly carefree, but reliable in everything he did. He was doubtful because… who exactly was he?

Thinking of this, he realized that he was no longer alone.

He had been in a state of semi-sleep discussing with the system, so his body was naturally lying on the bed. But now, he could feel that Yu Tianji, who had been on the bed with him, had quietly left.

Voices could be heard coming from the outer hall.

Yu Tianji had gone out to greet someone.

Li Yuebai opened his eyes and, as expected, saw only an empty bed.

One of the bedposts had been broken by him, and the bed curtains hung down, completely obscuring the outside.

Li Yuebai sat up, lifted the curtains, and looked outside.

This was the inner chamber of the Auspicious Hall, the Immortal Lord’s resting place, separated from the outer hall by a corridor. The voices could be faintly heard, but this body’s hearing was always acute, so he could hear them clearly.

It was Su Xu, the Pavilion Master.

“Immortal Lord, you flatter me. This subordinate will certainly do everything in my power for you, even if it means sacrificing my life…” Su Xu’s voice was serious, but a hint of joy was revealed beneath his words.

It sounded like this person had received a reward from the Immortal Lord.

“Why say such things, Pavilion Master Su?” Yu Tianji smiled. “You have worked hard and made great contributions; these rewards are well-deserved. I have only recently ascended to the position of Immortal Lord, and being young and inexperienced, I lack foresight. In the future, I can only rely on Pavilion Master Su.”

“I really dare not accept such praise,” Su Xu hurriedly declined. “If we are talking about hard work and great contributions, then the High Priest is the model for us.”

“…” Yu Tianji’s expression changed slightly upon hearing the term High Priest.

Su Xu keenly noticed.

“The High Priest is utterly loyal to the Immortal Lord and has devoted himself wholeheartedly to this campaign. As the one who invited him out of seclusion, I should have gone to visit him along with the other Immortal Masters…” Su Xu said casually.

“Pavilion Master Su is unaware of this,” Yu Tianji sighed. “Immortal Master Mu was already weak, and this time his primordial spirit has been severely damaged. His life hangs by a thread. I have already invited a renowned physician to treat him, but I fear the prognosis is grim.”

Grim? Li Yuebai regulated his breathing and found that he had recovered well and was out of danger. He couldn’t help but smile bitterly to himself. Yu Tianji had said that he would recover soon, but in a short while, it turned out that he was about to die. Where did he get that idea?

“Grim?” Su Xu was shocked. The teacup in his hand wobbled and almost slipped from his grasp.

He looked around the Auspicious Hall and indeed felt only a chilling wind blowing through it, a scene of desolation and gloom.

Yu Tianji sighed, “Originally, only the two of you possessed extraordinary talent and could have helped me achieve great things. But fate has cruelly taken away one of my arms. That’s why I say that from now on, I can only rely on Pavilion Master Su.”

“I am both grateful for the Immortal Lord’s appreciation and overwhelmed with grief. If the High Priest is truly not well… it would not only be a great loss to Kunlun, but also a great sorrow for me.” Su Xu’s face was also filled with sorrow. “However, even the diagnosis of a renowned physician can be wrong. Can this physician truly be trusted? My Miaoyan Pavilion does have several immortal masters with exceptional medical skills, perhaps…”

Li Yuebai listened secretly, thinking to himself that it was true.

In Su Xu’s Miaoyan Pavilion, there were several immortal masters who were well-versed in medicine, and they were all Su Xu’s confidants. It was precisely because of their medical skills that Su Xu was able to successfully fake his death and escape in the original storyline.

Su Xu, a man of deep cunning, had already considered countless possibilities upon hearing Yu Tianji’s words— was Mu Qingning truly overworked, his primordial spirit exhausted, and on the verge of death? Perhaps it was just a feigned death? Perhaps he was perfectly fine, and the Immortal Lord was merely testing him?

To ascertain the truth and demonstrate his loyalty to the Immortal Lord, Su Xu immediately volunteered, offering to assist with a renowned physician under his command.

“That would be best,” Yu Tianji said. “Then, I’ll trouble Pavilion Master Su to invite several immortal elders to examine his pulse!”

“Yes,” Su Xu hurriedly agreed, dispatching his disciple to quickly fly back to Miaoyan Pavilion on a sword.

Li Yuebai was momentarily confused about Yu Tianji’s true intentions. Wouldn’t Yu Tianji’s lie be exposed once the immortal elders arrived? What was this child up to?

Just as he was wondering what to do, the system spoke.

“Host, Yu Tianji requests a communication,” the system said.

“Ah?” Li Yuebai was startled. “System, what did you say?”

“Yu Tianji is sending you a message through the system,” the system repeated.

“…He really is a transmigrator?!”

“Yes,” the system replied.

“Then why didn’t you tell me sooner? System, you…” Li Yuebai sighed helplessly.

“Recognition between transmigrators is best done voluntarily; the system must not interfere,” the system replied. “This is my principle as a system.”

“Master Mu,” Yu Tianji’s smiling voice came through the system.

Li Yuebai could even picture his smiling face.

“What are you doing?” Li Yuebai was exasperated.

“I didn’t do anything, just playing around.” Yu Tianji’s tone was innocent. “My beauty, considering I’ve taken care of you for a whole day and night, you absolutely have to help me later.”

“How can I help?” Li Yuebai sighed.

“When the immortal masters come to examine your pulse, could you please act like you’re on the verge of death?”

“…” Li Yuebai was both amused and exasperated. “You want to fool Su Xu?”

“Yes.”

“To make him mistakenly believe I’m dying, and thus believe he can command the winds and rains in Kunlun Immortal Mountain, second only to you.” Li Yuebai thought for a moment. “For someone with such a strong desire for power, this temptation is immense.”

His judgment was correct. However, the speed of flying on a sword was always very fast. Just as Li Yuebai finished speaking, he heard several footsteps entering the Auspicious Hall.

Several immortal masters paid their respects to the immortal master and then walked through the corridor toward this bedroom.

Hearing the footsteps getting closer, Li Yuebai frowned and raised his wrist to look— could a pulse be faked?

“Beauty Mu, why are you so nervous? The system can do it, right, system?” Yu Tianji continued with a grin.

“Yes, host, the system can temporarily fake a set of bodily reactions, such as pulse and body temperature, to fool the doctors,” the system replied.

Li Yuebai didn’t want to deal with these two clowns, so he simply lay back down, closed his eyes, and ignored everything.

A dialog box popped up in front of him: Host, would you like to temporarily activate the near-death illusion?

Li Yuebai selected yes.

He could feel his body gradually getting colder, his heartbeat gradually slowing down, his internal energy weakening, his pulse becoming chaotic… His skin tone had probably been adjusted by the system to a pale, half-dead look, which he could feel himself— a complete deathly appearance.

Immediately afterward, the bed curtains were lifted, and several people gathered around the bed. Someone took his wrist and carefully took his pulse.

Li Yuebai appeared motionless, but his heart was churning.

This time, it was truly a cheat code in the traditional sense.

In his previous two transmigrations, the system had never been this useful.

As expected, after a round of observation and examination, the immortals gasped in shock and repeatedly apologized to the Immortal Lord.

“Immortal Lord, we didn’t expect the High Priest’s condition to be so serious… We are powerless to save him…”

“Yes, the High Priest has always been kind and gentle, this is truly…”

After a long sigh and some discussion, Su Xu led the immortals away.

After their footsteps disappeared, a long time passed before the system spoke: “Host, do you want to stop the near-death illusion?”

“Are there any outsiders here?”

“No, Su Xu and the others have already left, and there’s no one serving in this inner room, so it won’t be exposed,” the system replied.

“Alright, let’s return to normal.”

Li Yuebai opened his eyes and let out a long breath.

As expected, Yu Tianji shamelessly clung to him again, looking him up and down, touching and poking him, making clicking noises: “Beauty Mu, the way you looked just now, this immortal master felt so sorry for you, it was terrifying…”

“…” Li Yuebai was too lazy to argue with him, and went straight to the point: “When did you know that I…”

“Of course, it was when you smashed the bedpost.” Yu Tianji said nonchalantly, “Before that, Immortal Master Mu was upright and meticulous, without any flaws.”

Li Yuebai recalled that after he finished reading the original plot, he woke up and was extremely angry, which was hard to hide, and he didn’t want to hide it, so he unconsciously revealed a little bit.

“At first I thought it was a nightmare, but the more I thought about it, the more I felt something was wrong. The way you looked so sad, it was as if you knew everything.” Yu Tianji said, “So I asked the system.”

When he said the word “system,” it was censored by the system.

Sure enough, this world did not allow the use of words outside the world’s scope.

Li Yuebai had no choice but to switch to system dialogue mode, sending a silent internal dialogue: “Who exactly are you?”

“Same as you, a transmigrator.” Yu Tianji shrugged.

“Are you Ye Qing?” Li Yuebai felt his heart pounding, almost trembling with nervousness.

“Ye Qing? I don’t know.”

“jokervila.” Li Yuebai, unwilling to give up, threw out the code word again.

“What does that mean?” Yu Tianji didn’t understand at all.

“…” A huge disappointment overwhelmed Li Yuebai once again: “It’s two English words. I wrote them on a talisman and showed them to you before. Didn’t you recognize them then?”

“You mean this talisman?” Yu Tianji took out the talisman with “jokervila” written on it from his sleeve, examined it closely, and then frowned: “It’s all gibberish. This immortal lord doesn’t recognize it.”

Li Yuebai sighed.
