Ya Zi kept urging him on from the side, and Jiang Lan hesitated for a while, but in the end, he couldn’t bring himself to eat. He thought to himself that this was prey that they had caught together, and it wouldn’t be good for him to eat it all by himself. It would be better to take it back and raise it so that he could eat it slowly with Ya Zi. So he stopped worrying about whether to eat it or why he had no appetite, and happily carried the injured Jiang Chi back with Ya Zi.

Jiang Chi was badly injured and had almost lost consciousness. He didn’t move even after Jiang Lan carried him back on his back. When they got back to the cave where they were temporarily staying, Jiang Lan put him down. Seeing that his breathing was getting weaker and weaker, he hesitated for a moment, then picked some herbs from nearby and gave him some simple treatment for his wounds.

Ya Zi, resting his head on the short sword, followed his movements with his eyes, and muttered in confusion, “What are you doing? Would the meat taste better with some herbs?”

His question was tinged with deep skepticism, because the small, sharp stone made him doubt Jiang Lan’s rough method of curing meat.

He buried his nose under his paws; the grass smelled pungent and unpleasant.

The meat must taste bad.

He definitely won’t eat it.

The prey they caught was too big, and it took Jiang Lan a while to stop the bleeding from his wounds. He then threw the remaining scattered herbs aside, sat down dejectedly, and muttered to himself, “Maybe I should raise it for now and eat it when it’s a bit fatter.”

I don’t feel like eating right now anyway.

“?”

Ya Zi was startled and looked up sharply, but the pungent smell of herbs made him shove his head back down. He then muttered angrily, “Are you out of your mind? How can you raise such a big one? It probably eats more than me!”

If they don’t even have enough to eat themselves, how can they feed it?!

Thinking of this, Ya Zi got angry. He glanced at the back of the cave and felt that he should still have two deer to eat.

However, the cave was not very large, and there was nothing behind it except for the mountain wall covered with weeds and vines.

He reluctantly looked away, not very happy.

This was indeed a serious problem. Jiang Lan subconsciously touched his empty belly, thought for a while, and then had a sudden inspiration. He said, “Once he can move, we can let him go and find food for us.”

“We’ll eat the food we find first, and he can eat what’s left. Otherwise, we’ll eat him.” Jiang Lan thought it was a great idea, and even his dejection from having no appetite vanished, and his expression immediately brightened.

Ya Zi thought about it and felt that it wasn’t a bad deal, so he grunted twice to indicate that he agreed.

Jiang Lan, thinking about the life of being waited on hand and foot in his nest, cheered up and happily went out to find medicinal herbs again.

We need to get him better quickly so he can get to work as soon as possible.

….

On Friday evening, Ying Qiao arrived in Yunnan Province by private jet.

Upon receiving the news, the director of the Yunnan Provincial Branch Bureau arrived at the airport early with his team to greet the officers.

Before Thursday, the disappearances of the Wa people and Jiang Lan could only be considered local cases. However, after Thursday, the disappearance of Jiang Chi implicated the Qian faction’s conspiracy. After Tai Feng informed the Beijing General Bureau of the current situation, the matter had now risen to the highest level. The Beijing General Bureau had directly issued instructions requiring the Yunnan Provincial Branch to fully cooperate with Ying Qiao and the Jiangcheng Demon Management Bureau.

Meanwhile, powerful demons from the vicinity of Yunnan Province were successively conscripted and would soon arrive to provide support.

Seeing Ying Qiao’s grim expression, the Yunnan Provincial Bureau Chief could only force a smile and welcome him into the car, then carefully report all the relevant information to him so far. Although the Yunnan Provincial Bureau was not very powerful, it had still managed to get things done. Ying Qiao quickly reviewed all the documents, sent a copy to Bi’an, and then said to the driver, “Go straight into the mountains.”

The Yunnan provincial bureau chief wanted to say something, but seeing his somber expression, he awkwardly shut his mouth and gestured for the driver to listen to Ying Qiao.

The cars then turned around and headed into the mountains.

Ying Qiao remained silent throughout, only keeping his eyes closed as if deep in thought. Seeing his overly sinister expression, the others dared not interrupt him. It wasn’t until they returned to the location of the village that Song Yu had mentioned that the Director of the Yunnan Provincial Bureau cautiously said, “Director Ying, we’ve arrived.”

After saying that, seeing Ying Qiao get out of the car, he followed beside him and added anxiously, “We searched the entire mountain over and over again, but we found nothing.”

“Are you sure this is the place?” Ying Qiao looked around.

“This is it. Although the village is gone, the terrain is similar and hasn’t changed much. You can recognize it,” Song Yu said.

After a moment of contemplation, Ying Qiao lowered his eyes and spoke, telling the others to move as far away as possible.

The crowd was puzzled and didn’t know what he was doing in the mountains so late at night. However, it was common knowledge that Ying Long had a bad temper, so no one dared to ask any questions. They simply retreated to the very edge of the area.

Ying Qiao was left standing there alone.

He looked up at the sky, a deep dragon roar escaping from his throat, and then his figure flashed, instantly transforming into a tens-of-meters-long Ying Long that took flight.

Thick, dark clouds gathered amidst the dragon’s roar, instantly obscuring the clear stars and moon. Darker and heavier than the night pressed down heavily, with a golden dragon roaming among them, accompanied by blinding lightning. Moments later, thunder roared and torrential rain poured down.

Dense raindrops pounded down, covering the entire world.

The people from the Yunnan branch looked up at Ying Long in the clouds, and someone exclaimed, “Truly worthy of being an ancient demon.”

In an instant, it can summon clouds and rain, causing the world to change color.

The rain continued relentlessly, its force immense.

Ying Qiao roamed among the clouds, looking down from above. Ying Long was skilled in controlling water; if he so desired, he could sense the location of every single raindrop.

As long as Jiang Lan is still here, no matter which space he is in, he will eventually find his trace.

….

At the same time, Tian Wu looked up at the sky, which was filled with dark clouds and was about to be hit by a downpour, and squinted as he said, “It’s Ying Long. He was faster than I thought.”

Yuan Yin, who arrived a step later, stood with his hands in his pockets and a gloomy expression: “Should we send someone to hold them off?”

“No need.” Tian Wu shook his head and sneered: “Let’s not even talk about whether he can find that small world. Even if he does find it, His Majesty will have already taken out Chi You’s head by then.”

“Once the sacrificial ceremony begins, it cannot be interrupted.”

This small world was a burial ground created by the Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan after Chi You’s defeat and death, with the combined efforts of his trusted advisors.

Legend had it that when Chi You was defeated, his soul vanished, but his resentment lingered. The land stained with Chi You’s blood became barren, turning into wasteland, except for a forest of blood-red maple trees, where the air was perpetually thick with the resentment of blood. At the time, it was rumored that Chi You was not dead and would one day return.

Later, the resentment in the Blood Maple Forest spread and even affected the surrounding areas, so the Yellow Emperor took action to suppress it. Legend had it that he buried Chi You’s body in five different locations to suppress it, but for many years afterward, no one ever found Chi You’s body.

In fact, the so-called suppression from five directions was just a deliberately released false rumor.

Chi You was incredibly powerful and revered as the God of War. Even with the help of many powerful allies, the Yellow Emperor only managed a pyrrhic victory. Although Chi You died, his body did not decay, and his resentment lingered. To prevent future trouble, the Yellow Emperor created a small world and imprisoned Chi You’s head within it.

If it weren’t for the fact that His Excellency happened to know the approximate location of the burial site and had obtained the Yellow Emperor’s Xuanyuan Sword by chance, they wouldn’t have been able to find Chi You’s true burial site so easily, and wouldn’t have been able to lay out so many contingency plans to prepare for reopening the Heavenly Road.

Suan Yu, recalling the origins of this small world, calmed down and waited patiently with Tian Wu.

….

Jiang Lan picked another large bunch of herbs and came back.

He was hungry and tired, so he simply lay down on the pile of slightly soft herbs.

Jiang Chi was sleeping next to him, his belly rising and falling weakly but rhythmically, at least he hadn’t died yet.

Jiang Lan stared at him for a while, rubbed his flat belly, turned over so his back was to him, and slurped his saliva.

I’m a little hungry, and I think I’m having an appetite again.

But for the sake of a better life where someone would provide food in the future, Jiang Lan decided to endure it for the time being.

He glanced at Ya Zi, who was fast asleep, hesitated for a moment, then secretly got up and prepared to go outside to find something to eat.

If there’s no meat, fruit will do.

I’m so hungry.

Jiang Lan tiptoed out, and just as he reached the cave entrance, he heard Ya Zi mutter behind him, asking him what he was going to do.

His back stiffened, then he thought that eating a late-night snack wasn’t shameful, so he confidently yelled back, “I’m hungry!”

Ya Zi muttered “He can really eat,” then ignored him, turned over, and went back to sleep.

Seeing this, Jiang Lan stopped sneaking around and swaggered out the door, eager to get started.

Let’s go get some late-night snacks!

However, there were hardly any living creatures in the mountains. Jiang Lan wandered around for a long time without finding anything. After eating a few wild fruits, he unknowingly arrived at the foot of a valley. A faint red mist was shrouded in the valley, and a familiar roar could be faintly heard coming from it.

“?”

Jiang Lan craned his neck to look into the valley. The voice sounded like that big, nasty guy he’d fought with.

Jiang Lan frowned at the memory of the smell of stones mixed with mud. But then his empty stomach growled twice.

Jiang Lan’s eyes turned slightly red; he was hungry.

He thought that even if it didn’t taste good, it was better than having nothing to eat.

Let’s eat first and talk about it later.

However, given the opponent’s formidable strength, Jiang Lan remained cautious and prepared to launch a sneak attack. If he couldn’t defeat them in a one-on-one fight, he would simply take a couple of bites and run.

While he peered out from outside the valley, the man in red, who had arrived long ago, was also observing him from inside the valley.

The colossal Chi You was now reduced to a head with wide-open eyes. A thin but indestructible black iron chain remained attached to his neck, clattering dully as the head struggled. Chi You’s wide eyes held no light, only roars of resentment and bitterness escaped his lips.

“Just one more. Go, eat him, or let him eat you…”

The man in red stared at him, and after a moment, he pulled a broken sword from his sleeve and slashed at the black iron chain with all his might. Sparks flew from the chain, and after several strikes, both the chain and the old, broken sword snapped in two.

At the same time, a torso, arms, and wings rapidly sprouted from beneath Chi You’s head… He let out a furious roar and walked out of the valley.

Jiang Lan, who had sneaked into the valley, was completely unprepared for Chi You’s sudden appearance and ran right into him, who had been fully revived.

Chi You stared at Jiang Lan, and Jiang Lan stared back at him, both of them quite shocked.

It’s so big and grows so fast, no wonder its meat tastes bad.

It turns out it was a quick fix.

Pshaw, pshaw, pshaw.
