A few minutes later, the female ghost fell silent, staring at the portrait that had been restored to its original state, even surpassing its previous appearance.

To successfully restore this portrait, she would have needed to spend at least a night searching in the haunted casino, constantly evading ghosts… in short, overcome numerous difficult and demanding conditions to obtain the necessary tools.

She simply didn’t want to see this person, who held the potential to destroy the casino, die accidentally, which was why she decided to risk such danger and let Gu Wuji pass her test directly.

But what was wrong with this guy! He actually possessed such skill, restoring the portrait so easily! She didn’t even need to do anything special.

Actually, Gu Wuji himself didn’t have such skill, but he had advanced tools. These were things he’d obtained within the world of paintings, far superior to ordinary portraits outside, more than enough for his needs.

“It’s completely fine now,” the female ghost, having seen it all, quickly calmed down.

“It’s so good to be of help,” Gu Wuji gave her a sincere smile.

Looking at Gu Wuji, who seemed genuinely willing to help her, the female ghost felt a long-lost warmth in her heart. She realized that this person was indeed different from the others who had come to this place. If it were him, perhaps…

“Now I’ll tell you about the other four ghosts.”

The female ghost didn’t mind revealing information about her companions to Gu Wuji without hesitation. In just a short time, Gu Wuji had already figured out everything about these four vengeful ghosts— their backgrounds, hobbies, weaknesses, and even how to pass their tests.

It was like suddenly getting a walkthrough for a game halfway through.

Although knowing the walkthrough was risky, it was nothing to Gu Wuji. If everything went smoothly, Gu Wuji’s victory in this game was a sure thing.

“Oh, right,” the female ghost seemed to remember something, and added, “There are two humans, probably from the same place as you, who are also trapped in this space. They should be able to enter soon.”

“Oh?”

….

At this moment, the two men were walking along the long corridor, still somewhat wary.

The ghosts they kept inside their bodies were scouting the surroundings, ready to react to any danger they encountered.

After some time of exploration, the two discovered some clues from their surroundings, and combined with some information they already knew, they roughly deduced their current situation.

“It seems we’re trapped in a space controlled by some ghost, and we can only get out if certain conditions are met.”

As for where that ghost was, they quickly figured it out, since they could clearly sense a more terrifying aura emanating from their kept ghosts.

Just then, they heard movement ahead, and it was the aura of a living person. The two exchanged a glance, their expressions revealing undisguised malice.

They would never miss the opportunity to kill their opponents in this instance, and they didn’t care who the living person was.

The two immediately lay in ambush in the surrounding concealed areas, and controlled the ghosts to hide as well, waiting to attack the player directly when the time came.

….

At this moment, Gu Wuji was still walking in the corridor. Considering the character of the three people he had encountered during the day, the female ghost had asked him if he wanted to make the two of them completely lost in this space.

But Gu Wuji was, after all, a good person with strong moral principles, and felt that such a thing was too much; perhaps he could discuss it with the two of them.

Considering various reasons, he still used a disguise tool to change his appearance back to what he looked like during the day. This tool originally had a limited number of uses, but after being upgraded with points, it could be used at will. Gu Wuji had purified many ghosts in the past few days, so he certainly didn’t lack points.

Just as he reached the corner, two ghosts suddenly appeared and pounced on Gu Wuji. At the same time, the two of them also appeared from their hiding places, holding various tools in their hands, and looked at Gu Wuji with cold smiles.

The moment they saw Gu Wuji’s face, their smiles froze.

How could it be this person?!

“N-nothing, it’s alright. We weren’t serious enough during the day, which allowed him to slip up. Now that we’re using our full strength, what can he do?” the bespectacled man exclaimed.

“That’s right.” His companion quickly regained his confidence, and the two were about to continue their attack when they witnessed a scene that made their eyes widen in horror.

Gu Wuji remained calm in the face of the two ghosts’ sudden attack. The ghosts hadn’t even managed to strike before they were already frozen in mid-air, unable to move.

That wasn’t all; the crucial point was that the two ghosts, as if under control, turned around and coldly stared at their masters.

After all, these two ghosts were only mid-level ghosts. Gu Wuji’s ghost-controlling technique could even temporarily suppress the ghosts within his own body, let alone ghosts like these.

The two immediately felt as if the connection between their bodies and the ghosts had been severed, their minds went blank, and they felt an urge to vomit blood.

“What have you done?! How could this happen?!”

“Are you… are you even human…?”

What kind of person is this?! They already considered themselves incredibly ruthless, but all they did was raise ghosts within their bodies… Yet this other person could manipulate ghosts with such skill! What had happened to him?! Could this be one of those legendary high-level players who had reached the pinnacle of ruthlessness?

Especially Gu Wuji, who seemed so approachable, but who knew what he was really thinking? His disguise was too convincing; just how deep was his cunning? They had truly bitten off more than they could chew this time!

The two men’s defenses completely crumbled; they looked at Gu Wuji as if he were some kind of demon. Even a smile from someone as handsome and kind as Gu Wuji felt like a death sentence to them.

Overwhelmed with fear, the two men, forgetting their grief over what had happened, turned and fled to the side.

“Wait, I have something to say to you.” Gu Wuji hadn’t forgotten his intention to persuade the two men, and quickly followed. “I won’t lay a hand on you.”

But these two men, judging others by their own standards, didn’t believe Gu Wuji’s words at all. They thought Gu Wuji wanted to kill them all, and their escape speed immediately increased.

….

In the dimly lit corridor, everything was black and white, devoid of any life.

The two men trembled and hid behind a huge vase in the corridor. They were clearly terrified, but dared not breathe loudly, for fear of attracting the attention of that person.

Of course, they didn’t think that person was blind, so they had already used a tool to conceal their presence, hoping only to escape this calamity.

Before tonight, they had never imagined they would be in such a sorry state, but that person was truly terrifying, making them realize for the first time that there were such heartless and insane men in the world.

Just then, footsteps sounded.

The two men’s bodies stiffened uncontrollably. They watched in disbelief as a figure slowly approached, accompanied by two ghosts.

These ghosts, once so familiar to them as if they were part of themselves, now terrified them. In a way, they suddenly understood the fear of the people they had killed.

Just then, they noticed something was missing from the shadows outside. Looking up, they were horrified to see two ghosts clinging to the ceiling.

“Aaaaaaahhhhhh—”

With screams of agony, the two men scrambled out of the room in utter disarray. They probably never imagined they would be so terrified by the ghosts they had raised.

“Ah, finally found you.” Gu Wuji breathed a sigh of relief and looked at them, saying, “I was thinking it would be difficult to find you. So I asked these two ghosts to look for you. As expected of ghosts closely connected to you, you found us so quickly, saving us a lot of trouble.”

“Don’t worry, I don’t intend to kill you. I just want to talk to you and ask you a few questions.”

Gu Wuji didn’t seem to find anything scary about himself, who had led two ghosts to chase after two men who were now lying on the ground in fear.

The two men were almost scared to death by Gu Wuji. They hurriedly retreated to the wall, only to suddenly find a door behind them.

It turned out that they had unknowingly arrived at the location of the ghost in this space.

Their eyes lit up. If they might not have dared to approach rashly before, they didn’t care about anything else in front of Gu Wuji! Even bumping into the ghosts was better than being killed by Gu Wuji!

They immediately pushed open the door, looking at Gu Wuji with a cold smile, as if they were going to die together.

The moment the door opened, the two rushed inside and were horrified to see a portrait hanging in the center. The female ghost depicted in the portrait exuded immense pressure, causing them to freeze in place. If it was this ghost…

“You’re back again,” the female ghost said to Gu Wuji, acting as if they were still quite familiar, even her tone was friendly.

“I didn’t expect it to be so soon,” Gu Wuji replied.

The two men: “…”

The two men: “?!?”

Just how terrifying is this Gu Wuji?!
