Everyone had a youthful phase, and Qin Fan was no exception.

Don’t let his current aloof, emperor-like demeanor fool you; he might not utter a word to outsiders for a long time.

But from a young age, he was the notorious king of the kids in the compound. The only grandson of the Qin family, a true prince, his arrogance emanated from his very bones, cultivated from his very flesh and blood.

Among the younger generation, he was the only one who could be called “Master.”

While everyone else was called “Young Master XX,” Qin Fan called himself “Master,” and no one could stop him. He gave his friends all sorts of nicknames, calling them whatever he wanted. Being called a nickname by him meant he respected you, that he remembered you.

Back then, the children felt honored by this.

Everyone in the compound knew each other well; the other families considered the Qin family’s direct descendant a madman. Others might be crazy like mad bulls, but Qin Fan was a mad little monster, unstoppable even by most adults.

A single sentence on the phone stirred up distant memories for Dou Wenqing.

When did Qin Fan change? It seemed that before any of the children in the compound could react, he had already disappeared from everyone’s sight. Afterwards, they only heard about what he did but never saw him again.

The first time they realized he was no longer the domineering, unruly kid who led a group of children astray in the compound, but had become calm and ruthless, was at the funeral of Qin Fan’s parents.

At that time, Qin family’s only son and his wife were confirmed to have died in a plane crash.

At that moment, Qin Fan truly became the sole heir of the Qin family.

The group of young, mischievous kids were thinking, “That’s it, Qin Fan’s really powerful now, he’ll probably be even more arrogant and domineering than before, unstoppable.” But the outcome was completely unexpected. Qin Fan still didn’t show his face in the compound; instead, he was constantly building up military-industrial complexes, while the kids a few years younger than him were still indulging in pleasure, this guy was already the head of an elite intelligence organization.

Despite being born in the same generation, they seemed to be separated by a generation. Except for a few exceptions, who didn’t respectfully call Master Qin “Master” now?

“Master Qin, if you can get your man stolen, it just means you didn’t build your bond strong enough,” Dou Wenqing replied into the phone.

“I’m not afraid of you stealing him,” Qin Fan mocked, “I just find it troublesome to explain to Master Dou.”

“No need for explanations.” Dou Wenqing lowered his eyelashes, his gaze landing on Si Huang with an ambiguous look. “My uncle already knows I’m interested in Si Huang and has been wanting me to bring over my lover home for him to see.”

“…” He’s already reported to his elders? When did this happen? He’s faster than me!

Dou Wenqing continued, “If Master Qin is just playing around, he should stop now. Since you’re not mentally unstable, you should find a woman to leave a lineage for the Qin family.”

“Playing around my ass.” Qin Fan chuckled.

Dou Wenqing: “…”

Compared to Dou Wenqing’s always sharp and insightful words, Qin Fan was much simpler and more direct.

Just then, the sound of tires screeching as a car drifted and stopped came from the phone. It wasn’t just on the phone; it seemed to be heard in real life as well.

Si Huang, sensing something, turned to look outside the coffee shop.

Three cars were parked one after the other outside.

The door of the first car opened, and out stepped Qin Fan.

He held his phone, his gaze sweeping across the coffee shop, and within seconds, his eyes met Si Huang’s.

The handsome man smirked, revealing an enigmatic smile, his natural aura radiating confidence.

Beside him, Guo Chengxiong, carrying a laptop, got out of the car.

It was obvious that Qin Fan and his group had found them so quickly thanks to him.

The group strode into the coffee shop. The few customers present sensed the tension, so they tried to keep their presence to themselves while simultaneously waiting to watch the spectacle.

“So it’s that bold person, Young Master Dou,” Guo Chengxiong clicked his tongue.

He dared to speak up now only because he had found Si Huang.

Dou Wenqing put down her phone, ignoring Guo Chengxiong’s sarcastic remarks, and said expressionlessly to Qin Fan, “Mr. Qin, quite the grand gesture.”

“I am a bit older than you,” Qin Fan replied calmly, glancing at Si Huang. He checked her from head to toe, not missing a single wrinkle, making sure she was unharmed and untouched before his expression softened slightly.

“Come here,” Qin Fan said, but Si Huang sat, raising an eyebrow but not moving.

She remembered Qin Fan’s tantrum last time, telling her to leave and then ignoring her, finally snapping at her for no reason.

If it was the same this time, it would be better to let them cool off.

Seeing that she didn’t move, Qin Fan walked over himself.

With Dou Wenqing between them, their eyes met for a fleeting two seconds, a tense atmosphere of impending conflict, yet also as if they had tacitly reached some consensus, neither of them making a move.

Qin Fan grabbed Si Huang’s arm and pulled her to his side. “Is there any important information on your phone?”

Si Huang looked at him in surprise, thought for a moment, and said, “No.”

As Qin Fan nodded, he suddenly and swiftly grabbed Dou Wenqing’s hand holding the phone.

Dou Wenqing had been distracted at first because Si Huang hadn’t refused Qin Fan’s touch, and the attack came so suddenly that he didn’t react in time.

Not wanting his hand to be ruined, he had to abandon the phone.

With a thud, the phone fell to the ground.

Qin Fan lifted his foot and stomped it into pieces.

Si Huang asked, “What are you doing?”

Qin Fan bent down and rummaged through the pieces to find the SIM card and put it away, replying, “I think his hands are dirty. I’ll buy you a new one later.”

His tone made Si Huang feel a thrill of novelty, and a smile appeared in her eyes.

“Oh.”

“Oh.”

She had just opened her mouth when the man beside her launched another surprise attack, kissing her lips as she opened them.

“Wow—!” came the cheers from Yang Zi and Guo Chengxiong.

The kiss wasn’t deep; it seemed more like a confirmation of their relationship, a stamp unique to Qin Fan. He pressed hard, then released Si Huang.

“See you next time,” Qin Fan said to Dou Wenqing, pulling Si Huang away.

Dou Wenqing’s face tightened, his voice icy as he replied, “See you next time.”

He didn’t linger, stepping aside to let them leave, displaying impeccable manners. Many of the women watching felt a burning desire, unable to resist the urge to investigate. Why would a handsome guy steal another man? He doesn’t seem gay! Maybe he’s bisexual? Would I have a chance if I went over now?

As Si Huang and Qin Fan’s figures receded into the distance, Dou Wenqing’s icy aura grew stronger. Women who had been giving him suggestive glances were instantly chilled by his deathly cold gaze.

“No wonder he didn’t manage to snatch him! Looking at his cold demeanor, you can tell he’s not good at charming people! Humph!” Some women whose plans had been aborted before they could act thought angrily.

Outside the coffee shop.

Qin Fan told Guo Chengxiong and the others to drive to their planned accommodations.

He got into Si Huang’s car and sat in the passenger seat.

“Where to?” Si Huang asked, getting into the driver’s seat.

“Just drive,” Qin Fan replied.

Si Huang glanced at his expression, then simply said, “Okay,” and started the engine.

As the car drove off, Qin Fan pulled a pack of cigarettes from his pocket.

“If you want to smoke, open the window, don’t bother me,” Si Huang reminded him.

Qin Fan’s gaze darkened. He lit a cigarette but didn’t smoke it, instead holding it between his fingers and letting it float out the window. “Don’t you have anything else to say?”

“What should I say?” There were two forks in the road ahead. Si Huang observed for a moment, then chose the one with less traffic. After driving in and seeing that there weren’t many cars, she turned to look at Qin Fan. “I don’t have any other work today. You have the whole afternoon.”

“…” Qin Fan’s gaze flickered. He stared at Si Huang for a few seconds before turning to look out the window.

Si Huang said, “If you’re planning to give me the cold shoulder all afternoon, then I think it’s better to go to work.”

“Don’t provoke me.” Qin Fan said without turning his head. “Let me have some peace and quiet.”

Si Huang looked at him in surprise. “Fine, take your time.”

But Qin Fan hadn’t been quiet for more than two minutes before he threw the cigarette away and turned to look at Si Huang. “Can’t you tell I’m unhappy?”

Si Huang didn’t speak.

“Speak.”

“Master, take it easy, can’t you see I’m driving?”

The way he called her “Master” made Qin Fan’s breath catch in his throat, especially when Si Huang glanced at him sideways, her smile carrying an ambiguous meaning.

Qin Fan’s gaze immediately turned dangerous. His dark eyes held an unrestrained, fiery intensity, which only Si Huang, used to, could maintain her composure. Most women would probably blush and feel weak under such scrutiny.

Time slowly passed. Si Huang didn’t know what Qin Fan was thinking. They had been driving for almost ten minutes, and this man had been staring at her for ten minutes. His eyes didn’t seem tired, but she felt exhausted from being stared at.

“Rip—”

The car swerved and was about to crash into the unguarded woods by the roadside.

Si Huang immediately slammed on the brakes and brought the car to a stop.

“Speak,” Si Huang said, looking at Qin Fan. “Tell me what’s bothering you.”

Qin Fan glanced down at her moving lips and said impatiently, “Nothing.”

Si Huang was about to make a sarcastic remark when she heard the man say, “I’m just jealous.”

“What?” Si Huang pretended not to hear.

Qin Fan reclined the passenger seat, half-lying back in it, his deep gaze fixed on Si Huang. Something seemed to be breaking free from his dark depths. “I wish I were a few years younger.”

“Why do you wish that?” Si Huang chuckled, feeling a sense of pleasure at discovering more of the man’s hidden side.

“Back then, I wouldn’t have to worry about so many things.” Qin Fan stared at her face, but his thoughts seemed to have wandered elsewhere. “If you had been born a few years earlier, I would have caused a huge uproar to get you, and I would have broken the legs of anyone who dared to covet you.”

“I didn’t realize you were such a man.” Si Huang laughed heartily, her hand landing on the man’s face as she scrutinized him. “Looking at it this way, Duan Qizhou really did learn from you. I thought he only imitated some of your habits, so his personality was just like yours when you were young and impetuous?”

Before Qin Fan could speak, Si Huang said seriously, “If you were a few years younger, I might not have even fallen for you.”

A dark undercurrent flickered in Qin Fan’s eyes. “Go on.”

Si Huang brushed his bangs back, revealing his entire face. “I like you just the way you are now.”
