In an instant, many guesses flashed through Luo Mi’s mind, and he finally chose the one with the highest probability: “Could the Sig Palace block surveillance or something?”

Reinhardt glanced at him with some surprise and nodded: “Ever since the Omega Empire was destroyed by divine punishment and the standoff between the two empires ended, the Alpha Empire has become the sole superpower and has begun to try to break free from the control of the Papacy. The Sig Palace, as the core of the royal family, has been continuously enhanced with anti-divine magic mechanisms. If there is any place in the Light Domain that Your Majesty cannot directly see, it must be the palace.”

Luo Mi carefully considered Reinhardt’s words and gleaned a great deal of information. The most important of these was that the Pope could actually directly monitor every corner of the entire light domain?

Luo Mi’s eyes widened suddenly, and she stammered, “So, that means, I, Anos, and he… were all seen by the Pope?”

Reinhardt blew the feather off the back of his hand and comforted him with a smile: “Don’t worry, His Majesty isn’t so free as to keep an eye on His Highness every day. Besides, when another prince appears, he usually makes some preparations. Your affair with His Highness hasn’t been exposed.”

Luo Mi: “…Then how did you know?”

Reinhardt tapped his head: “Because I have this.”

Luo Mi: “…”

He rubbed his face, trying to calm himself down. “What are you planning to do by suddenly confessing to me like this? Planning to give me five million to leave Anos?”

As he spoke, many similar scenes flashed through Luo Mi’s mind, and he even considered whether he could take the money Reinhardt offered him.

Reinhardt replied firmly, “You want money from me? Absolutely not!”

Seeing that Reinhardt was still so greedy, Luo Mi suddenly felt relieved. He then became curious: “How much do you know about Anos? Tell me?”

Reinhardt hesitated for a moment, then put down what he was holding: “Actually, I don’t know much either. I only know that His Highness has split into two, one being the Holy Son of the Holy See, and the other leaning towards the demons… It was only during this trip to the Duchy of Perde that I learned that the other half of His Highness is actually the Blackwing Lord. Both His Highnesses occasionally ask me to do things…”

As he spoke, Reinhardt began to complain, “The Black side doesn’t give me any funding for the work I do, so I have to find ways to falsify accounts— oops, to balance the books— to cover the deficit. I wasn’t born liking to auction off His Highness’s feathers; it’s all for His Highness’s sake!”

Luo Mi twitched the corner of her mouth: “Does the Black side trust you that much?”

“Who told me to have something on him?” Reinhardt shook his head and sighed, then looked at Luo Mi warily and said, “Don’t worry, I won’t tell you what it is.”

“Who cares about you!” Luo Mi thought to herself, then asked, “Then why don’t you tell Anos that his shadow has become a spirit, uh, it’s his other half?”

“As I have already said, this is His Highness’s business, and I have no right to interfere. As His Highness’s knight, I only need to obey His Highness’s orders.”

Luo Mi didn’t believe it: “What if the two orders Anos gave you conflict with each other? For example, the white one tells you to go through the door with your left foot first, while the black one tells you to go through the door with your right foot first?”

“….” Reinhardt’s lips twitched. “I’ll hop in with both feet.”

Luo Mi wouldn’t give up: “What if there’s another Anos who demands you enter upside down?”

“…. Where did all these princes come from?” Reinhardt finally rolled his eyes. “If you keep arguing, I’ll put nails in your bracelet.”

Luo Mi leaned back on the sofa, staring thoughtfully at Reinhardt.

Reinhardt felt very uncomfortable being stared at and shifted his position warily: “Don’t look at me, I don’t want to be killed by His Highness.”

No matter what Luo Mi asked next, Reinhardt just laughed it off and refused to reveal anything else.

Luo Mi even felt an urge to use his charm to get Reinhardt to tell the truth. Unfortunately, just as he leaned closer to cast his spell, he heard Anos’s voice from the doorway: “What are you doing?”

Luo Mi froze, feeling inexplicably guilty. So he stood up straight and forced a dry laugh, saying, “It’s nothing, I was just curious about what Reinhardt was doing.”

To prevent Anos from pressing further, Luo Mi took the initiative and asked, “What’s the situation at St. Patrick’s Cathedral?”

Anos’s azure eyes fell on Luo Mi, then shifted slightly towards Reinhardt, a helpless smile on his face. He replied, “Lord Eugen has already tested the effects of the Green Heart drink on different people and has never seen a reaction like yours. Therefore, Lord Eugen hopes that you can conduct some experiments.”

Luo Mi asked doubtfully, “He doesn’t want me to drink it again, does he?”

Last time, it was the demon Anos who helped him solve the problem. If he were to develop a strong possessive desire for Anos again this time, Luo Mi would suspect that Anos would be considered magnanimous if he didn’t kick him while he was down.

But would a demon be magnanimous? Obviously not!

Anos shook his head: “Of course not. Lord Eugen’s plan is to conduct a detailed physical examination on you, collect your physical data, and compare it with the substances contained in the Green Heart.”

Luo Mi hesitated for a moment: “That’s fine too.”

According to the demon Anos, the Green Heart contained an extremely rare amount of the Purple Fragrance Lord’s blood, which was why it affected him. Luo Mi was indeed curious about where the Purple Fragrance Lord’s blood came from in St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Could it be that Lord Zixiang was actually dead, and his body was being studied at St. Patrick’s Cathedral?

Anos seemed to sense Luo Mi’s reluctance and gently patted Luo Mi’s shoulder: “Don’t worry, I’ll stay with you.”

Luo Mi nodded, feeling much more at ease.

“Of course, before that, Queen Caroline II has invited us to a luncheon.” Anos smiled slightly. “We’ll go to the cathedral this afternoon.”

….

Because Anos and the others were all members of the Papacy, this palace luncheon was not particularly lavish, with many appetizers and main courses omitted. Even so, the dishes made with quail, pigeon, suckling pig, lamb, and other ingredients were still dazzling and exuded a rich aroma.

Luo Mi rubbed his stomach discreetly.

Besides Caroline II, Anos, and himself, the banquet was also attended by Caroline II’s three princes and princesses: Prince Charles, Prince Pearl, and Princess Charlotte.

Charlotte and Anos had only met a few times, so they politely raised their glasses in greeting without saying much. Pearl, having walked with them a few times, sat down next to Anos and Luo Mi with an air of familiarity, as if saying, “We’re family, no need for such formalities.”

Prince Charles, who had been consistently overlooked during Reinhardt’s introduction, sat in his seat with his eyes vacant, as if he had been forcibly dragged in to make up the numbers, and had no intention of speaking to anyone at all.

Luo Mi couldn’t help but glance at Prince Charlie twice.

Charlie Penant was twenty-four years old. His short, brown hair was slightly messy, and his light brown eyes and more angular features made him seem somewhat out of place among the refined appearances of Caroline II’s family.

Perhaps his resemblance to his mother was one of the reasons why he was given the cold shoulder by Caroline II.

However, Luo Mi’s attention to Prince Charlie was not due to his unusual appearance, but because when they first entered, Prince Charlie glanced in their direction and then quickly looked away.

Luo Mi’s intuition told him that Charlie was looking at Anos at the time.

Soon, the luncheon officially began.

The banquet was a royal reception for members of the Papacy, but the atmosphere was not particularly formal. Queen Caroline II exchanged pleasantries with Anos with a smile, while Charlotte and Pearl occasionally cracked witty and well-placed jokes, making the whole scene relaxed and enjoyable.

Prince Charles ate his food in silence, as if he had come there specifically to eat. When the banquet was halfway through, he put down his knife and fork, stood up, and whispered a few words to Caroline II.

Queen Caroline II nodded slightly with her smile unchanged, and Charlie bowed before taking his leave.

Luo Mi ate two small lamb chops and was finishing a roast chicken when he saw Prince Charlie leave early. After a moment’s thought, he asked Pearl, who was sitting on the other side, “Your Highness Charlie, are you eating so little?”

Pearl laughed and said, “Charlie trained in the army and always eats very quickly.”

Luo Mi asked the system in her mind, “Did these princes and princesses appear in the original novel?”

In the original story, when the protagonist arrives in the Empire, Charlotte III had already taken the throne. Other princes and princesses were not depicted, and even if they appeared, they were minor characters or had little interaction with the protagonist.

Luo Mi looked at Prince Pearl with a pitying expression: “So, in the end, Pearl lost the battle for the throne to Charlotte?”

Pearl turned around and met Luo Mi’s gaze, raising an eyebrow slightly: “Lian?”

Anos’s gaze followed.

Luo Mi coughed lightly, looked away, and said perfunctorily, “It’s nothing, you look very handsome today.”

Pearl touched his bow tie in confusion: “Am I not dressed much the same as before?”

Anos paused for a moment, the curve of his lips slowly softening.

….

After lunch, Luo Mi, feeling stuffed, got into the car and headed to St. Patrick’s Cathedral with Anos.

Like other parts of Sig City, the interior of St. Patrick’s Cathedral was filled with a steampunk and mechanical feel, with gears, bearings, pipes and other parts everywhere, making this cathedral, which served God, look like a mechanical fortress.

Archbishop Eugen was waiting at the foot of the cross. When he saw Anos and Luo Mi approaching, he bowed approvingly: “Your Highness is as punctual as ever.”

Anos smiled calmly: “Lian has agreed to the examination, but it must not have any adverse effects on his health.”

“Of course.” Bishop Eugen looked at Luo Mi, his expression unchanged. “Thank you, Lord Lian. If it is confirmed that the Green Heart has a negative impact, I will certainly compensate Lord Lian.”

“You’re welcome, it’s nothing.”

As she spoke, Luo Mi gently fiddled with the black feather bracelet with her left hand.

The Black Feather Bracelet contained several solidified spells, one of which was called “Emotion Amplification”— as the name suggested, it could sense all of the other person’s current emotions and amplify one of them, whether it was joy, anger, or sadness.

Moreover, the magical fluctuations were extremely small; so when applied to Luo Mi’s eyes, they wouldn’t even be detected by Anos beside him.

In Luo Mi’s imagination, the archbishop’s emotions would either be as calm as still water or as fiercely righteous as hatred; in any case, he would not have any positive feelings.

However, after activating this magic, Luo Mi was surprised to find that when Archbishop Eugen faced him, the strongest emotion that filled his heart was deep fear.
