“What bad luck.” Ace’s voice rang out, making no attempt to hide her dislike for Arthur. “Why did you have to choose the same day and location as us to film!”
Arthur’s captivating, bard-like tone suited his current attire perfectly. “It’s a coincidence. I didn’t know you’d be here today.”
“That’s precisely what makes it so annoying!” Ace’s eyes froze, but when she turned to see Si Huang, they warmed up again.
She felt that Si Huang looked better than Arthur at this moment, which might be a psychological effect of her dislike for Arthur. As long as she was happy, that was enough. In Si Huang, she saw a glimmer of hope for victory.
As long as Si Huang wasn’t worse than Arthur, she was confident that the female lead on Arthur’s side would never be better, and with both of them combined, their chances of winning would be even higher.
“Ah—” A gasp suddenly rang out.
Ace looked over and widened her eyes in surprise.
Arthur suddenly walked towards Si Huang for some unknown reason. No one knew what he was thinking. But he bowed gracefully to Si Huang, performing a noble salute.
“I do not believe in God, but I love the devil,” he murmured softly, raising his head to meet Si Huang’s gaze.
In those captivating eyes, Si Huang seemed to see a passionate, intense emotion. Why “seemed”? Because this emotion was too unbelievable.
Remembering what Five Treasure had said about this man’s bloodline, Si Huang understood his statement.
A vampire believing in God? It was tantamount to suicide! Even if she didn’t know how much of that bloodline remained in this era, the essence of it shouldn’t have changed.
“You come from the abyss, yet you carry holy light; even the taste of death becomes sweet in you,” Arthur’s voice was low, as if everyone else didn’t exist, speaking only to Si Huang, or perhaps simply expressing his innermost thoughts. A passage of English, rising and falling, possessed an indescribable allure yet unexpected solemnity, drawing listeners in and causing them to forget the meaning of the words.
He reached out to Si Huang, “I can kiss you…”
*Snap*— a menacing scepter blocked his hand, interrupting his words.
Arthur looked up.
Si Huang curled her lips into a smile, “No.”
A ruthless refusal, even the smile on her cold lips carried a frosty chill.
Arthur’s breath hitched, and he took another step forward.
With a “whoosh,” the cold blade slashed down.
“Ah—!” To make the prop look realistic, the blade wasn’t very sharp, but with enough force, it could still hurt someone.
Amidst the chaos, Arthur managed to reach out and grab the blade that was about to strike him.
Looking at it this way, it seemed Si Huang hadn’t actually used any force, otherwise, how could she have been caught like that?
Si Huang raised an eyebrow, her smile becoming more genuine, returning to her usual demeanor. “Sorry, you got me into theatrics.”
Arthur glanced at her, released the sword, and also smiled faintly. From his parted lips, two slightly sharp canines were vaguely visible; it was unclear if they were props.
“It’s alright,” he said. “I was the one testing you first.”
Si Huang sheathed her sword in her scepter, then heard Arthur add, “You’re a formidable opponent.”
To be acknowledged by a worthy adversary was something to be pleased about.
“You are too,” Arthur stared at her. “I’ll take this job even more seriously.”
“I’m glad I made you feel threatened,” Si Huang said without any modesty.
The sight of the two standing together was both pleasing to the eye and inexplicably tense, until Arthur, just as inexplicably as he had arrived, left, and the atmosphere returned to its usual lively state.
Ace frowned. “What is this guy doing here?” She walked over to Si Huang. “Don’t let him influence you.”
“I won’t.” Si Huang shook her head, her colleague scrutinizing Ace’s attire.
The pure white, dark gold, and mithril armor pieces, worn by the little girl, exuded a heroic and imposing aura, not at all like a child pretending to be an adult. She was just a little girl, yet she possessed more presence than most adults, making her even more captivating. Even Si Huang found her endearing, with a touch of admiration— so young yet so far more outstanding than most adults.
“Should we go check out their location?”
“Go check it out?” James also came over and asked.
“No need.” Ace said, “No need!”
Si Huang glanced at her again, feeling that Arthur’s visit to scout the location hadn’t dampened the opponent’s spirits; instead, it had ignited them.
Everyone didn’t dwell on Arthur’s arrival for too long, and filming proceeded as scheduled.
Only one man stared at the direction Arthur had left for several seconds.
“Mr. Qin, is there a problem?” Yu Xi felt his aura was too terrifying and couldn’t help but speak up to remind him.
Qin Fan withdrew his gaze, “Nothing.”
Yu Xi didn’t ask any more questions; he just wanted the other party to stop looking so cold and as if he might do something terrible at any moment.
….
The central filming location.
The extras had already taken their positions. Ace stood at the very front of the war angels. Their enemy was one person, someone who looked younger than most of them, a god with eyes closed, but a demon when eyes open!
A pair of dark, emerald-green pupils were revealed to everyone as her eyelids opened.
Even though it wasn’t the first time they had seen it, it still made countless people lose their composure for a second or two.
A gentle smile still lingered on her face, more compassionate than a god, but those eyes were no longer the same as before, full of life force as if everything was reviving; the surging laughter was an evil that toyed with the world.
Ace knew they were filming, but she was still shocked by Si Huang’s sudden change.
Her mind involuntarily drifted to the photoshoot a few days prior. The other person, disguised as an angel, had been by her side, taking meticulous care of her. She felt that no one else in the world understood her, loved her as deeply, or knew her like that! She had even made a decision: once she reached adulthood, she would become a male angel and marry her!
—According to the photobook’s storyline, angels don’t have a gender before adulthood; they can choose to be male or female after reaching adulthood.
She remembered their conversation during yesterday’s shoot.
“Ace, what’s your dream?”
“I want to become the strongest war angel!”
“That’s great. But what makes you the strongest?”
“Have you seen the first throne under the Father God? Whoever sits on it will be the strongest!”
“Oh, you will succeed.”
“Hahaha!”
Why did you deceive me?
Why did you toy with me?
At this moment, Ace seemed to have truly entered the role she was playing, staring intently at the other person, her eyes revealing a deep and unforgettable emotion.
