“So, old lady, you do know how to write the four characters for ‘respect the elderly and love the young’.”

Yun Zheng’s eyes were beautiful, like peach blossoms, watery and slightly upturned at the corners, perfectly blending almond-shaped and peach blossom-shaped eyes. When she smiled, her eyes curved downwards like crescent moons, the black and white of her eyes not clearly defined, giving a hazy, dreamlike feeling.

When she wasn’t smiling, she exuded an indescribable cold aura, like a queen with overwhelming power. The combination of these two qualities created her unique style.

At this moment, she raised her bright, intelligent eyes and said with a half-smile,

“My family is struggling to afford food. As my own grandmother, why don’t you even think of helping your weak, pitiful, and helpless granddaughter like me?”

Cheng Linshi’s face was extremely ugly.

“Qin Yunzheng, what exactly do you want?”

“Nothing.”

Yun Zheng sat down unceremoniously on the stool, crossed her legs, propped her chin on one hand, and lazily rested the other on the edge of the table behind her, looking down on the group of ants like a boss.

“I just woke up one morning and remembered how I was so ignorant before, how your Cheng family tricked and deceived me into taking so many things from my Qin family over the years. I thought it’s better to be down-to-earth. You shouldn’t take what doesn’t belong to you. Your Cheng family relies on the Qin family for support, so you probably aren’t happy about it. That’s why I came here to take it back.”

Cheng Linshi’s face instantly changed, and she shouted…

“Qin Yunzheng, if you want to go crazy, go back to your Qin family and go crazy there. Otherwise, get out of here right now!”

“Get out?”

Yun Zheng stood up straight and laughed without emotion. The coldness in her eyes seemed to freeze the surrounding area for miles.

“Don’t forget that I am also a descendant of your Cheng family. I am standing on my own land. What right do you have to tell me to get out? When your Cheng family was coaxing me to take things from the Qin family, why didn’t you tell me to get out? Now that you’ve used me, you turn your back on me. There’s no such thing as a free lunch!”

Madam Cheng Lin never expected that her granddaughter, whom she had completely controlled, would suddenly stand up and act like a different person.

But being an old woman who had experienced the hardships of playing cards, she was fierce and wouldn’t be easily intimidated. She glared at him and said, “You worthless, worthless thing, you don’t deserve to be a descendant of the Cheng family! My son has divorced your mother, you’re now a member of the Qin family. There’s no place for you in this family. You jumped into the river for a man, disgracing yourself, the whole village curses you! Our Cheng family can’t accept a shameless descendant like you. You should just drown yourself!”

Yun Zheng suddenly raised her leg and kicked the wide bench in front of her, sending it crashing onto the dining table behind her. Leftover food splattered all over the floor.

“Since your Cheng family doesn’t acknowledge me as their descendant, why should you take even a needle or thread from the Qin family? A classic case of eating the meat and then cursing the mother! Since your Cheng family is ungrateful, heartless, and beastly, why should the Qin family give you any more face?”

Even Cheng Linshi, known for her shrewishness and shamelessness, was rendered speechless and unable to utter a sound.

Zhang Li and her daughter were dumbfounded. Qin Yunzheng had truly changed completely. Just yesterday, she had treated the Cheng family with utmost respect. What had she gone through in the short time it took her to jump into the river?

Cheng Xuening suddenly felt a sense of crisis. She felt she might no longer be able to control Qin Yunzheng!

“Yun Zheng, what’s wrong with you?” Cheng Xuening suppressed her questions, her expression troubled.

“Are you feeling unwell? We’re your family! How could you talk to Grandma like that? It hurts her feelings!”
