Fang Xing snorted coldly: “An excuse.”

“When facing an enemy, no matter how afraid you are inside, you can’t show it. The important thing is your momentum, understand? The one who’s afraid first loses!”

Qin Fei stammered, “Yes, yes.”

Fang Xing: “You still have a lot to practice. From now on, you’ll be in a group with Bai Yue for all your combat classes.”

“Yes, yes…” Qin Fei suddenly realized, “Huh?”

After saying that, Fang Xing ignored the student’s reaction and turned to Bai Yue, saying, “Come with me, I have something to tell you.”

Bai Yue nodded. Just as he was about to follow, someone grabbed his clothes. Turning around, he saw it was Qin Fei.

“Bai, Brother Bai. Talk to the teacher a little nicely. Constantly sparring with me isn’t good for your progress.”

Bai Yue patted Qin Fei’s shoulder and smiled slightly: “Keep it up.”

Qin Fei froze instantly.

“Why don’t you practice with me after class? That should help you overcome your fear faster.” Bai Yue sincerely suggested.

Qin Fei instantly ran away.

The combat class continued. While Fang Xing stood on the periphery, watching the students’ skills.

He had to admit, everyone had talent. Compared to ordinary students, their progress was rapid. However, compared to this one person, their progress seemed somewhat lacking.

When Bai Yue followed him out, he found Fang Xing standing not far away, looking thoughtful. He didn’t disturb him but simply stood quietly to the side.

“Bai Yue.”

Suddenly, the teacher called him.

Bai Yue: “Here.”

Fang Xing: “What do you think of your classmates?”

Bai Yue was taken aback.

Fang Xing turned around and looked at him: “During this period, you’ve had at least two or three encounters with them. Have you noticed anything?”

Bai Yue understood what the teacher meant.

He looked at the students fighting fiercely inside and said, “Liu Cheng’s attacks are ruthless, with wide and sweeping movements, so he should have a lot of fighting experience. However, he’s easily angered, his movements lack structure, and he’s easily suppressed.”

Liu Cheng was the alpha who provoked Qin Fei on the first day of class, and he and Qin Fei were like oil and water. Although they didn’t fight, they argued every few days.

After speaking, Bai Yue looked at Qin Fei beside him. The other seemed to have been hit hard, shrinking into a corner and drawing circles.

“Qin Fei…” Bai Yue coughed lightly, “He should have a training foundation, but he’s a bit hesitant in actual combat.”

Just like the teacher said, Qin Fei was very afraid of pain. To avoid getting hurt, he was very cautious in his attacks. Often, a fight would drag on for a long time.

Bai Yue explained each person in the order he saw them.

When he got to the fifth one, the teacher interrupted him: “I understand.” He looked at Bai Yue, “So, what’s your assessment of yourself?”

“I…” Bai Yue hesitated for a moment, then answered, “My foundation isn’t very solid yet, and my timing for attacks isn’t accurate enough. Sometimes I’m too reckless…”

Fang Xing: “You’re accurate in your assessment of other students, but you’re so self-deprecating about yourself?”

Bai Yue didn’t quite understand the teacher’s intention and didn’t speak.

Fang Xing put his hands behind his back: “I’ve always valued you, but your progress…” He curled his lips, revealing the scars on his face, “is truly far beyond my expectations.”

From the first lesson, it was clear that Bai Yue had virtually no foundation. But in less than a month, his progress had become so obvious.

It was not just about improving physical fitness and physique, but also about adaptability and the ability to learn from mistakes in actual combat. It also involved accurate judgment of the situation of both “enemy” and “comrades.”

This was crucial for soldiers, because they were not just cogs in a machine; they would climb the ranks and potentially rise to command positions.

And the most fundamental skill for that was the ability to accurately assess the strength of both sides.

Fang Xing looked at Bai Yue: “I’m going to recommend you for the disciplinary squad selection.”

The disciplinary squad selection was held annually, choosing only freshmen. To save time, a recommendation system was used. First-year homeroom teachers could only recommend one student from their class.

Fang Xing originally intended to recommend someone else.

While Bai Yue’s genetic level was undoubtedly strong, his lack of physical skill was a significant weakness. The disciplinary squad’s future missions would be extremely dangerous, and he couldn’t let a student with no fighting ability risk his life.

However, his perspective had changed.

Bai Yue’s rapid progress was truly surprising.

Fang Xing: “However, joining the disciplinary squad certainly has many advantages. But I must remind you, the disciplinary squad will undertake many dangerous missions. You should consider it yourself; I won’t force you.”

Bai Yue looked at his teacher.

He had developed a certain interest in the disciplinary squad as early as the day of the club recruitment.

Having military merit, wielding power, and benefiting future promotions— this opportunity was not to be missed.

“No,” he smiled, “Thank you, teacher, I will try my best.”

Dusk was falling. The sun set, and the clouds painted a pale orange hue on the horizon. Under the orange-red sky, students from the Imperial Military Academy, having finished their last afternoon class, poured out of the teaching building.

There was a bustling, noisy crowd.

Shang Yufei leaned on the railing. A gentle breeze blew, lifting a few strands of his dark hair.

He was pondering Bai Yue’s words.

Although he didn’t think his thoughts would change, the other’s attitude was very serious. This seemed to be the first time in all the time he had known Bai Yue that he had seen the other express his thoughts so clearly.

Bai Yue had a good temper, and even when the two occasionally clashed, it always ended with Bai Yue backing down first. But this time, it seemed not so simple.

To Shang Yufei, even with the second differentiation, Bai Yue was still Bai Yue. He didn’t think the “person” himself would change.

Now, thinking back, had he been too simplistic?

Shang Yufei felt a little annoyed and irritably ran his hand through his hair.

Thinking was never his thing. He had always been too lazy to waste words and just took action when he encountered unsatisfactory people or things. But this approach didn’t work with Bai Yue.

What should he do?

“Tsk.”

Finally, he kicked the railing hard and turned to leave.

This was the rooftop, located at the highest point of the teaching building, surrounded only by a railing. It was usually locked, and ordinary students weren’t allowed in.

However, Shang Yufei had gotten a key.

He walked to the door, his hand on the handle, and heard hurried footsteps outside. He frowned slightly and slipped behind the door.

“Boss!”

A loud shout rang out as someone kicked the door open.

It was Wu Zihao who entered.

Shang Yufei ignored him and walked straight out the door.

Wu Zihao had expected to find his boss here but found the place deserted. He scratched his head in confusion, then turned around to see the person he was looking for about to leave.

He rushed over, “Wait, I’m looking for you!”

Shang Yufei replied impatiently, “What?”

Wu Zihao knew his boss was annoyed. Ever since that omega had come to see him today, his annoyance seemed to have escalated to another level. But if he asked, he’d get a fierce glare, making him afraid to ask.

But now it was urgent, and he had to report to his boss.

“The disciplinary team selection starts next Monday; we need to take action.”

Hearing this, Shang Yufei remembered. He’d organized a similar event shortly after enrolling last year.

He’d been inexplicably recommended to participate in the selection, and that’s when he met Fu Cheng— then a freshman, now the disciplinary team captain.

Fu Cheng was one of the people he disliked the most.

However, Fu Cheng probably disliked him too, which was why he’d repeatedly caused him trouble.

Wu Zihao fanned the flames: “They treated you like that last time. We’d better retaliate!”

Shang Yufei glanced at his underling.

To be honest, his mind was completely focused on Bai Yue, and he had no time to think about anything else.

Besides, after deciding to stay at Imperial First, he couldn’t act as recklessly as before.

He needed the identity of “Imperial First Military Academy Student” to climb the ranks in the military.

As for being confined for so long last time… that grudge could wait until another day.

Therefore, compared to his underling’s righteous indignation, Shang Yufei remained very calm.

“That’s it for now, don’t attack the disciplinary team.”

After saying that, he turned and walked out of the rooftop.

Wu Zihao stood there, stunned: “Boss?”

How come the boss has become a different person since he came out of confinement? Not only is he entangled with an omega, but he also ignores his biggest enemy.

In the past, he wouldn’t even need to report; the boss would arrange everything himself and just wait for them to carry it out.”

Seeing Shang Yufei walk away, Wu Zihao finally came to his senses and hurriedly chased after him, calling out, “Wait, wait for me!”
