When Jiang Shining arrived at the company, her mind was filled with thoughts of her restless sons, and she almost lost focus during the meeting.

After resolving the film-related issues, the secretary told her that she had previously sent variety show invitations to seven celebrities. Since the renowned actor Mu Xu agreed to join the variety show, with him as a stepping stone, the other celebrities’ companies quickly agreed as well.

The talent show produced by Ninglu Media remained a huge hit for half a year, and its popularity was still going strong. In addition, since even such a big star agreed to participate, other stars’ companies immediately and decisively agreed.

This variety show, currently in pre-production, planned to gather eight celebrities to live together in an inn, voluntarily forming four teams of two. While it sounded like a management and task-based variety show, it was actually primarily selling the “couple” aspect. It was essentially a celebrity social and dating program.

Jiang Shining designed it this way, of course, to give Zou Yu an opportunity to reach the mission objective. Using the program as a springboard would make it easier for them to get along.

Mu Xu, as a film emperor, was quite different from Zhang Sujin. Zhang Sujin was purely a talent for acting, while Mu Xu was a massive influencer with a full range of awards, and he was handsome with a huge fan base. He might not be as good an actor as Zhang Sujin, but his popularity was unparalleled.

Ninglu had to spend a lot of money to invite him.

Besides Mu Xu and Zou Yu, the remaining six were also three men and three women, including a model, a young heartthrob, a singer, an actor, an internet celebrity, and a skateboarding prodigy. It was like bringing together a diverse group of people.

Jiang Shining hadn’t expected it to be so easy. Although the show wasn’t explicitly about celebrities dating, since they would be spending time together, they would inevitably be paired up. Not all celebrities enjoyed creating on-screen couples, but she hadn’t expected that everyone invited in the first wave would agree, even Mu Xu.

Meeting with multiple agencies, discussing details, signing contracts… Although Jiang Shining didn’t have to go in person, it was her first time doing this, so she still had to be at the company to oversee things, in case anything went wrong.

What was supposed to be a done deal turned into a surprise when her secretary called her in the afternoon.

“President Jiang, the actors’ schedules are not working out; and they can’t be rescheduled.”

There’s nothing we can do then; we’ll have to give up and send invitations to the planned second batch of names for the vacant spot.

While Jiang Shining was at the company, the light snow outside stopped without her noticing.

On the other side, by the harbor, two men sat side by side on a bench, their backs to the viewer, looking forlorn.

Chu Jingyuan and Chen Tanliang fought for several hours, and finally realized with dismay that unless they really fought to the death, there was no way to determine a winner.

Jing Yuan used to be very happy about this, as he rarely found someone he could beat up to his heart’s content. But now, he wished he could slap himself twice.

What a jinx!

Why are you always overthinking things when you have nothing better to do? Is your daily life not cozy, or is your mother’s cooking not good enough? Serves you right for always thinking about fighting. Well, now you’ve managed to find someone you’ve been waiting for.

Even though both of them had amazing stamina, such an intense fight had exhausted them. That’s why they sat listlessly on the bench, staring at the harbor in silence, questioning the meaning of life.

Silence filled this afternoon. Neither of them spoke; the world was quiet, the wind howled— the sea breeze was damn strong. They were drenched in sweat after their fight, but now it was chilling to the bone.

“…How could mother have a child like you?” Chu Jingyuan heard Chen Tanliang say in a low voice in the cold wind.

Chu Jingyuan thought Chen Tanliang was picking a fight again, so he glared at him, only to see Chen Tanliang staring blankly, as if he really couldn’t figure out the problem.

“What do you mean by ‘a kid like me’?” Chu Jingyuan raised an eyebrow. “In my previous life, I was an emperor. I became a thug in the US to avoid conquering the world!”

Chen Tanliang raised his eyelids slightly, seemingly a little surprised, and said, “In our world, the emperor was overthrown and killed before I was born.”

Chu Jingyuan: …

Chu Jingyuan: “And what did you do?”

“General,” Chen Tanliang said, “the one who led the troops.”

Jing Yuan couldn’t help but sigh, their mother was quite remarkable; times had indeed changed.

He had calmed down a bit, but then he heard Chen Tanliang mutter, “If only you could conquer the world, then I would have a legitimate reason to send troops to wipe you out.”

Chu Jingyuan sneered, “You call yourself a gentleman? Then if you knew we shared the same mother when you were attacking me, would you still have attacked me?”

This philosophical question, which tested his conscience, startled Chen Tanliang. His eyelashes trembled, and he actually began to think about it seriously.

Just when Chu Jingyuan had almost forgotten about it, Chen Tanliang said, “Let’s see if Mother is still here. If she isn’t, I’ll listen to my sister.”

“Why would you listen to your sister?” Chu Jingyuan asked, puzzled.

“She’s a writer, so she’s quite good at these kinds of philosophical questions.”

Chu Jingyuan couldn’t help but turn around and look at him several times.

“Someone like you can be a general?” he said in disbelief.

The way Chen Tanliang was behaving now was different from when he met him in the United States, and also different from all the other commander he had ever met.

When he wasn’t taking action, wasn’t in uniform, and Chen Tanliang showed no hostility, the contrast was quite striking. How could someone so mild-mannered possibly lead an army and be a general? How could he possibly control his subordinates?

This reflected the difference in eras. In Chu Jingyuan’s ancient times, battles were fought face-to-face, so generals and commanders naturally possessed greater ferocity and higher achievements, which enabled them to command the obedience of their soldiers. In Chen Tanliang’s time, aside from accompanying his father on military campaigns in his youth, he was raised as a young master in his household.

Moreover, Chen Tanliang’s upbringing wasn’t as difficult as Chu Jingyuan’s. This well-behaved man, after taking off his military uniform, looked completely harmless.

“I’d also like to know how someone like you became emperor.”

Just as Chu Jingyuan didn’t understand Chen Tanliang, Chen Tanliang also couldn’t understand Chu Jingyuan. He felt that Chu Jingyuan completely lacked the qualities of an emperor. A person should cultivate their own virtue when poor and benefit all under heaven when prosperous. And a leader should be even more virtuous and capable, leading others with virtue.

Where was there any trace of virtue, kindness, or beauty in Chu Jingyuan? He didn’t seem like a wise ruler at all.

—Great, neither of them liked the other.

However, their biggest question was: how could this guy possibly have the same mother as me?

I can’t believe it. It’s a real misfortune for our family.

Chu Jingyuan was too lazy to argue with him. “Your sister stays, you can leave.”

Chen Tanliang gave him a cold glance.

“Do you want to fight again?” he threatened.

So the two of them fought again by the harbor.

After finishing the game, he checked the time and it was already 3 PM.

Both of them silently took out their phones to check the time; Jiang Shining was also about to go home.

Putting down their phones, Chu Jingyuan and Chen Tanliang glared at each other.

A gust of cold wind blew by, and my back felt chilled again.

Chu Jingyuan: “…”

Chen Tanliang: “…”

Chu Jingyuan: “Do you want to go back?”

Chen Tanliang: “…Hmm.”

Chu Jingyuan started the Harley, and the two got on the same motorcycle.

“Don’t hug my waist!” Jing Yuan roared.

Chen Tanliang was speechless. He had only touched Chu Jingyuan’s side, and it had been made such a big deal out of nothing.

In retaliation, he simply reached out and actually hugged Chu Jingyuan’s waist.

Chu Jingyuan: “…Do you want to die?”

“Weren’t you very willing to bother me before?” Chen Tanliang said. “This is retribution.”

Chu Jingyuan: …

Damn it, my temper is flaring up again.

The two started fighting again on the spot, and finally, seeing that they were running out of time, they drove back together in a disheveled and awkward atmosphere.

They bickered while traveling.

Chu Jingyuan: “I can tie a rope around your neck and you can ride a motorcycle. It’ll keep you healthy and help you with important life matters.”

…If you accidentally fall while exercising, you can then perform a public suicide attempt.

Chen Tanliang: “I have a hundred ways to give you a proper burial.”

Chu Jingyuan: “I’m not good at anything else, but I’m best at killing my half-brothers. I bet you’ll die suddenly this time next year.”

Chen Tanliang: “I can let you experience what it’s like to be an emperor who has been overthrown and killed, and then have your story written into propaganda to educate the people.”

Chu Jingyuan: “Do you believe I can make sure you never see the sun rise tomorrow?”

Chen Tanliang: “I now have a way to kill both of us at the same time.”

Why were they suddenly deviating from the expected pattern?

Chu Jingyuan: “…What method?”

“It’s already 4:30,” Chen Tanliang said calmly. “Do you think Mother is home yet?”

…Damn it.

Chu Jingyuan was certain once again that he and this guy were truly irreconcilable enemies!

How annoying!

The Harley-Davidson roared all the way and came to a stop in front of the villa with a swish.

It was almost five o’clock. When Jing Yuan passed by the garage, he didn’t see Jiang Shining’s car, so it seemed she hadn’t returned yet. He breathed a sigh of relief, and the two of them went into the house one after the other.

As soon as he pushed open the door, he met Jiang Shining’s gaze.

The scene became very awkward.

Jiang Shining’s gaze swept from Chu Jingyuan’s face to Chen Tanliang’s, successfully extinguishing the arrogance of her two sons.

Upon closer inspection, both of them were injured. Jing Yuan had some abrasions and redness below his temple, while Chen Tanliang had a small cut below his thin lip.

“You two…” Jiang Shining looked at them suspiciously, “Where have you been?”

“Went to the boxing gym.”

“Going fishing.”

They said it in unison. Unexpectedly, it wasn’t close at all, and they stared at each other in disbelief.

What the hell is fishing?

Why go to a boxing gym when you have nothing better to do?

Finally, Guoguo, nestled in Jiang Shining’s arms, happily looked up and exclaimed, “Mommy! They’re really good at fighting! No wonder they’re Guoguo’s brothers!”

Everyone: …

Jiang Shining gently stroked the girl’s soft hair, revealing a dangerous yet kind smile.

“You two have such a good relationship,” she said. “You really weren’t lying to me.”

“No, no, no.” The two started sweating profusely. Chu Jingyuan said, “We were just full of energy and had a little sparring session.”

Chen Tanliang nodded vigorously and said sincerely, “It’s just a friendly exchange.”

“Oh.” Jiang Shining nodded in sudden understanding. Just as the two were about to breathe a sigh of relief, she said, “Since you two have so much energy, how about starting tomorrow morning, you two run ten laps around the villa area every morning?”

The two were stunned.

Jiang Shining smiled gently, “Is there a problem?”

“……No!”

Her two eldest sons immediately became withdrawn.

The author has something to say:

The sexy eldest sons were left instantly speechless.

Guoguo: My brothers fight so fiercely! >u<
