Luo Mi used divine magic to conjure water, intending to wash his body, but immediately sensed something was wrong— he smelled a strong stench of blood!

He immediately cast aside his shame and was about to spread his wings and fly back to Anos.

Just then, blood suddenly gushed out from the ground like a fountain!

The blood gushed out in eight directions centered on Luo Mi, leaping about three meters high before quickly converging in the middle, connecting with each other to form a grid, and finally solidifying into a huge cage!

Luo Mi reacted quickly, unleashing holy light from her hand and blasting it fiercely forward!

The holy light struck the blood-soaked birdcage, and a cloud of black mist rose from the blasted area, but nothing changed.

Luo Mi pursed his lips, and his body suddenly became transparent.

After he was upgraded to an angel, his abilities from the phantom were also greatly enhanced, and he could now become completely transparent, passing through all obstacles.

But when he touched the walls of the blood-stained birdcage, a sharp, corrosive pain shot through him, forcing him to retreat.

Luo Mi tried several methods in succession, but failed to escape from the birdcage, which surprised him greatly: although he only had half of Anos’s power, he was still an angelic being, and there should be very few people in this world who could trap him!

Luo Mi calmed himself down a bit and began to observe the blood-soaked birdcage.

The birdcage was bright red, as if the blood that made it up was still flowing. The latticework was also decorated with roses, making it look very exquisite.

Luo Mi pondered for a moment, then tentatively asked, “Rose Lord?”

Blood gushed forth again from the dark ground, coalescing into a crimson human figure— his features were handsome yet delicate, his prominent canines indicated his race, his attire resembled that of the most refined nobles in the capital, and he wore gloves.

But this figure was as thin as paper, as if it would break at the slightest touch.

The crimson figure smiled elegantly: “Your Majesty Saint Anos I, I am very sorry, but my true form has to exert all its strength to restrain a pope like you who possesses the rank of an angel, and therefore cannot formally meet with you. I hope you can forgive my rudeness.”

Luo Mi’s lips twitched, puzzled by the Rose Lord’s attitude: “Is this cage your true form? What do you want to do?”

The Rose Lord smiled politely and said, “Don’t worry, what I want to do has nothing to do with the Holy See for the time being. It’s just that I don’t want you to disturb me because of your relationship with Blackwing.”

Luo Mi frowned immediately: “What do you want to do to him?”

While questioning him, he manipulated his holy light to try to purify the ground, but he still couldn’t find a way to break through the all-out effort of a demon lord.

He could roughly tell that although the Crimson Cage was the Rose Lord, when he attacked with holy light, the power surged into the ground like an electric current attracted by a lightning rod, causing very little damage to the Rose Lord himself.

This was not a matter of strength, but a matter of technique.

“Nothing, just wanted to ask some questions.” The Rose Lord glanced to the side. “If Blackwing is willing to cooperate, then nothing will happen.”

Luo Mi narrowed her eyes: “What if he doesn’t want to?”

The Rose Lord smiled slightly but did not answer.

Luo Mi calmly pointed out: “Since your main body is trapping me here, your subordinates probably can’t defeat them.”

“Indeed.” The Rose Lord nodded in agreement. “That’s why I found some help.”

Helpers? Who? Other demon lords?

Luo Mi quickly considered the options in her mind, but before he could choose between the Red Horn Lord and the Lone Shadow Lord, he heard a roar from the sky that sounded like a thunderclap!

That was the roar of a dragon!

….

Sulfur flames rained down from the sky, as dense as a summer downpour.

These flames carried terrible acid and poison, forcing the fallen angels to spread their jet-black wings to completely cover themselves— though stained with the color of corruption, the angels’ wings still possessed a status second only to God, and would not be harmed by ordinary things.

He heard the roar of a dragon.

There was only one pure-blooded dragon in this world.

The Holy Son Anos tilted his head slightly, flapped his wings violently, and suddenly retreated, dodging the dragon’s claw that was slamming down!

A massive dragon descended before him, its crimson horns gleaming with a cold, metallic light, and its reptilian vertical pupils revealing undisguised savagery and chilling intent.

The Holy Son Anos hovered in mid-air, gazing fearlessly at the dragon.

His shadow suddenly moved, solidifying into the form of the Blackwing Lord beside him. A magic circle bloomed beneath his feet, helping the demon, who had lost the ability to fly, to float in mid-air.

The demon Anos narrowed his blood-red eyes slightly: “Red Horn, what are you doing here?”

A speck of crimson light floated above the Red Horn Lord’s head, quickly stretching into a tiny bat that emanated a gentle and polite voice: “Red Horn is someone I invited to help me.”

The demon Anos stared at the blood-red bat: “Rose, what do you want?”

The bat didn’t hesitate: “We want to make a deal with you— tell us how to break through the ‘limit,’ and we won’t stop you; we’ll send you to your territory immediately.”

The demon Anos almost sneered: “What if I don’t agree?”

The bat chuckled softly: “That’s why I invited Red Horn to help me.”

“Rose, I thought you were a bit smarter than the other lords, but it turns out you’re not much better,” the demon Anos said slowly. “You don’t actually think I’d accept this kind of threat, do you?”

“You’ve lost half your physical strength, your magic is depleted, and you can’t trust anyone around you. Opportunities to weaken to this extent are rare.” The bat flapped its wings, its tone still polite and calm, even tinged with regret. “Blackwing, we have no conflict of interest. Why are you unwilling to give us more trust?”

At this point, the color of the blood bat suddenly dimmed, like a faded black and white photograph, slowly corroded and weathered by time.

The blood bat dissolved silently.

Another drop of blood welled up from between the Red Horn Lord’s dragon scales, transforming into a bat once more. The Rose Lord’s voice rang out again, “It seems you don’t want to make this deal.”

The demon Anos ignored him, turning his head to the holy son Anos beside him and saying, “His true form is over there, and Lian must be there too.”

The Holy Son Anos, who had remained silent, nodded slightly, spread his wings, and met the dragon’s pupils with his azure eyes.

“Roar!”

The dragon roared, signaling the start of the battle.

….

“Of the five demon lords now, Lone Shadow is mysterious and cannot be seen clearly, while I, Zixiang, and Black Wing were born in this era, and Red Horn survived from the previous era. Although that dragon is not very bright, its strength and the power of its dragon language magic are very good.”

As if chatting with a friend, the Rose Lord explained to Luo Mi, “In earlier eras, there were Demon Lords and Demon Emperors in the Demon Realm who were higher than Lords, but in our era, no matter how hard we try to improve ourselves, we can no longer reach a higher level.”

Luo Mi frowned: “This is the ‘upper limit’?”

He had heard Lord Zixiang mention it, but he hadn’t paid much attention at the time.

The Rose Lord smiled and nodded: “I tried to cultivate seven bloodlines, bringing them all to a level close to mine, and then draining their blood, but that only increased their ‘breadth’ and not their ‘height’.”

Luo Mi sniffed, provoked by the understated mention of bloodshed by the Rose Lord: “Perhaps it’s because the Holy See did something?”

The Rose Lord smiled and shook his head: “No, in fact, the Pope of the Light Realm is the same. The Pope of each era represents the highest limit of human power, basically on the same level as the demons in the Demon Realm, and also constantly declines with the passing of eras… In my understanding, it means that the ‘upper limit’ that this world allows us to reach is constantly decreasing, and this ‘upper limit’ treats humans and demons equally.”

Luo Mi paused, then said, “But… the Blackwing Lord is different?”

“Yes, he is the only demon capable of breaking through this ‘upper limit’.”

How did you know?

The Rose Lord suddenly laughed and said, “Why ‘again’? Did someone tell you? Let me guess… Zixiang? Or Lonely Shadow?”

Luo Mi did not answer: “I asked first.”

“Alright.” The Rose Lord said very easily, “More than ten years ago, when Blackwing first came to the Demon Realm, he fought with Lone Shadow. This was Lone Shadow’s evaluation.”

The missing Lone Shadow Lord… Luo Mi pondered the name for a moment: “You believe him just because he said it?”

“Lone Shadow is quite special. Moreover, we have been trying and observing over the years. Blackwing, who just arrived in the Demon Realm, was already on par with us. As time goes by, Blackwing has grown extremely fast and has already left us behind.”

At this point, the Rose Lord sighed, “If Blackwing hadn’t been so badly injured this time, even with Red Horn, I wouldn’t have been able to defeat him.”

Luo Mi pursed his lips, looked up at the battle in the distant sky, and felt a little anxious.

He believed both Anos were formidable fighters, but now was precisely their most vulnerable moment, battling a fully-fledged dragon skilled in magic and incredibly powerful, compounded by the interference of the Rose Lord…

But Luo Mi quickly suppressed his worries and continued speaking to the Rose Lord: “Perhaps his ability to break through the limit is merely due to his talent, which you cannot learn from.”

The Rose Lord slightly curled her lips, revealing a mysterious smile: “If it’s talent, then it’s simple— vampires are the demons who are best at manipulating bloodlines and talents. As long as I drain his blood or give him the Embrace, his talent becomes my talent.”

“….” Luo Mi twitched the corner of his mouth. “You’re quite the thinker.”

“I know you probably think I’m arrogant,” the Rose Lord said with a chuckle. “But with the end of the world approaching, we have to give it a try. It’s better to die on the way of trying than to do nothing at all.”

“Is there such a thing as the end of the world for the Demon Realm?”

“That’s natural. Every time there’s an apocalypse, the demons of the Demon Realm are wiped out, and only a few survive.”

Luo Mi pondered the meaning behind these words, then looked up to meet the handsome and beautiful face of the Rose Lord, and couldn’t help but ask, “I have another question…”

“Want to know why I’m so open with you?” The Rose Lord seemed to have anticipated this question and smiled, “Because you are the Pope.”

A vampire trying to curry favor with the Pope? Luo Mi didn’t believe it.

The Rose Lord explained, “In every sense, both the apocalypse and the ‘upper limit’ are related to the God who claims to have created everything. So, for years I have been trying to spread my bloodline so that they can enter the Holy See. To this end, I have deliberately suppressed the vampire traits of humans in the Light Domain who have my bloodline, so that they look no different from ordinary people.”

“Unfortunately, so far, only one archbishop has reached the highest position, and he was almost exposed.”

Luo Mi was stunned for a moment. The setting sounded familiar— he quickly realized: Isn’t this Archbishop Ellis?

The Rose Lord glanced at Luo Mi and sighed, “Zixiang is really lucky. She got a descendant of the Pope for nothing… It’s a pity that her ability to control her bloodline is far inferior to that of the vampires. Giving her a descendant is a waste.”

Upon hearing this, Luo Mi finally understood and blurted out, “You want to turn me into your bloodline?”

The Rose Lord smiled and said, “Yes, I can smell the scents of three demon races on you. I don’t know how you did it, but you wouldn’t mind having another one of the vampire, would you?”
