Xiao Xu was taken aback. She subconsciously looked at Boss Zhou, who gave her a wink.

Jing Xuan immediately booked a private room, and only when he pressed the elevator button did he turn to look at the somewhat bewildered girl.

“How old are you this year?”

“…19,” Xiao Xu said softly.

The two entered the elevator, and Jing Xuan calculated their grades, “You’re a sophomore this year?”

Xiao Xu nodded.

“Who sent you to this kind of drinking party, Boss Zhou?”

Xiao Xu paused for a moment, then nodded.

“Why did you agree to his request?” Chu Jingxuan asked.

“…Because he’s the boss,” Xiao Xu said in a voice barely above a mosquito’s buzz. “I just signed the contract…President Zhou told me to get to know more people.”

“What’s there to know?” Chu Jingxuan frowned. “Girls need to be aware of protecting themselves, do you understand? You’re a student now, just focus on your acting studies, that’s enough.”

“But Mr. Zhou said…”

“He said if you’re obedient and perceptive, you’ll have more opportunities to shine, and other bosses will help you too?” Jing Xuan said. Seeing that Xiao Xu agreed, he added, “Just drinking with clients isn’t enough to get the opportunities you want.”

Xiao Xu didn’t understand at first, but when she realized it, her eyes welled up with tears.

“I didn’t…I…”

Jing Xuan sighed and then said, “Call your family and have them come pick you up.”

“They don’t know… my mom will scold me…”

“How could you drink with so many men alone at night? If something happens, your family won’t even know. Now you’re afraid your mother will scold you?” Jing Xuan frowned. “You clearly don’t like these kinds of drinking parties, so don’t force yourself. There are other paths to becoming an actor. Understand? Now, Jiayou. I’ll watch you do it.”

Xiao Xu pursed her lips, tears welling in her eyes, then took out her phone and dialed a number. The other party answered quickly, and Xiao Xu gave them the hotel’s address.

The elevator stopped on the first floor, and Jing Xuan asked her to sit on the sofa in the lobby. Then he stood to the side, and just then his phone rang. He took it out and saw it was his mother calling, and a smile appeared on Jing Xuan’s lips.

“Hello, Mom.”

“Are you coming back for dinner tonight?” Jiang Shining asked. “If you don’t come back soon, Jing Yuan will feed your portion to the stray cat in the neighborhood.”

Ah Huang was a little black cat that appeared and disappeared mysteriously. Jing Yuan insisted on calling it Ah Huang, supposedly hoping that this little guy would be confused about his identity when he grew up.

Jing Xuan couldn’t help but laugh. “I’ll be going back a little later today. There’s a lost college student here. Let him feed the cat first.”

After hanging up the phone, Jing Xuan looked down and saw that Xiao Xu was already crying.

Only then did he belatedly realize that she was a little scared.

“There’s nothing to cry about.” Jing Xuan softened his tone. “Don’t listen to him and come to drink with him next time. It’s better to break the contract than to sign with a company like that.”

“…I’m afraid my mom will scold me.” Xiao Xu said intermittently, wiping away her tears, “and I’m also afraid that Boss Zhou will blacklist me in the future… If I break the contract, I’ll have to pay compensation.”

Chu Jingxuan couldn’t help but sigh.

“Don’t worry, the world won’t fall. How much power can a company that produces web dramas have?” Jing Xuan said. “If you encounter problems, you must communicate with your family. Problems that can be solved with money, or things that will make your mother scold you, are all small matters.”

As Xiao Xu was wiping away her tears, Jing Xuan saw a middle-aged couple anxiously walk in through the door, looking around the hall. The mother immediately ran over when she saw Xiao Xu wiping her tears, with her husband following behind her.

“Xiao Yuan, who are you drinking with? What kind of boss is he?” Mother Xu squatted down as soon as she arrived, reaching out to touch Xiao Yuan’s cheek, her face pale with worry. “Why are you crying? Is it that Boss Zhou you mentioned who made you drink with him? Why didn’t you discuss it with us?”

“Were you bullied?” Mr. Xu asked more directly. “I’ll go up and beat them up. Which room are they in?”

“No, no, nothing happened… President Zhou asked me to drink with him, I was scared and didn’t dare to leave, it was President Wang who brought me down and told us to call you… Eh?” Xiao Xu turned around again, and the person who had been standing behind her was gone.

“What a lousy boss! We’ll terminate the contract as soon as we get back. How dare he make my daughter drink with him? What a piece of trash—” Mr. Xu was about to start cursing when her mother quickly stopped him and looked at her daughter.

“You mean that tall, handsome young man from earlier? Which company does he own?”

“Xuanyuan Video…”

Xu parents naturally knew about this video website, and they exchanged a glance.

“A good person, a good boss, this is what a good boss is!”

“From now on, we’ll be using Xuanyuan Video. Honey, when you get back, quickly subscribe to the TV and mobile versions and make sure it’s for several years.”

….

Jing Xuan was unaware that he had unintentionally taken on his own company’s sales targets. He returned to P City close to 10 PM.

He drove into the villa complex and saw someone wearing a turtleneck sweater and slippers squatting on the grass across from his house. When Jing Xuan parked the car and walked over, he saw that it was Jing Yuan squatting by the streetlight feeding the little black cat named Ah Huang.

While feeding it, Jing Yuan muttered to himself, “…Yes, eat it all. Now try my grilled chicken leg. Isn’t it delicious? This is called Royal Supper. Isn’t it classy?”

Jing Xuan couldn’t help but curl the corners of his mouth into a smile.

“Are you waiting for me?”

Jing Yuan turned his head and glared at him.

“You’re just being presumptuous,” Jing Yuan said. “Who’s waiting for you? I’m feeding the cat.”

Jing Xuan chuckled softly.

It feels so good to have someone at home.

The author has something to say:

I feel like this story will unfold while I’m urging all sorts of moths to come online…

Think of Jing Yuan and his brother, how pitiful they are! Can you bear to let them suffer the torment of other moths so soon? Save the moths!

The day after Jing Yuan was released, people were already urging me to write other moths (a type of Japanese insect). It’s really tough being an author… *sobs*

It’ll probably be around midnight by then. _(:з)_
