The parking lot was empty; the car they had arrived in was gone.

Li Yuebai’s mind was in turmoil.

Ye Qing had left; where would he go? How could he satisfy his thirst for blood? Would he lose control and do something irreversible?

Recalling his series of reactions just now, he had to admit that he had made numerous mistakes.

Why hadn’t he taken precautions before opening the black coffin?

Why hadn’t he knocked Ye Qing unconscious in time?

Li Yuebai always prided himself on being calm, rational, and composed in the face of danger, but this time he was truly in a state of utter chaos.

He subconsciously took out his phone, instinctively wanting to dial Ye Qing’s number, only to suddenly realize that he had pulled out Ye Qing’s walkie-talkie. He hadn’t brought his own phone with him; it was left in the car.

In the underground parking lot, the black Mercedes-Benz quietly came to a stop.

Ye Qing didn’t go to any unfamiliar places but drove directly back to the old community where they lived together.

After the car stopped, Ye Qing felt dizzy again.

He held his forehead with his right hand, and his left hand instinctively reached for the car door handle, but he didn’t open it.

He couldn’t just get off the car like that; he needed time to calm down.

Everything was black, his body was wracked with pain, every cell screaming in agony, his mind a chaotic mess.

The instant he was possessed by the dormant entity, he awoke, clearly feeling the pain in his chest, feeling his muscles and blood vessels slowly recovering, and feeling the person kneeling beside him, repeating those three words over and over again, “I’m sorry.”

He wanted to ask why he was apologizing, but he couldn’t utter a word.

His newborn heart pounded violently, his brain racing with countless thoughts, but he was completely out of control.

The moment he opened his eyes and saw Li Yuebai, every cell in his body screamed the same thing: Eat him! Eat him! Eat him!

Ye Qing was indifferent to many things and had never lacked anything. He had never known that vampires could possess such intense desires, especially for the person before him… He wanted to bite off his neck, to drain his blood, to break his bones one by one, to tear off all his flesh and swallow it whole…

When he pinned Li Yuebai to the ground, he used all his self-control to hold back for a minute, refraining from immediately biting off the other’s neck.

But for some reason, after leaving the museum, he subconsciously returned here.

As long as Li Yuebai didn’t come home.

The other self in his mind was quiet, never uttering any strange laughter or shouts, showing no signs of a split personality… The dormant body seemed to have merged with him, inseparably.

Ye Qing looked at his hands in the dim light of the underground parking lot; pale, slender, with distinct knuckles, and veins of an eerie color.

Perhaps soon, these hands would be able to uncontrollably snap Li Yuebai’s neck.

Ye Qing didn’t have any special feelings for Li Yuebai, but besides Li Yuebai, it seemed there was no one else in the world; everyone else was less than dust.

A wave of emptiness and boredom washed over him, and the original owner’s depression seemed to manifest even more strongly in this body. Li Yuebai’s repeated words echoed again: “I’m sorry… I’m so sorry for making this decision for you without my consent…. But what’s the big deal about ‘without consent’? Isn’t there another chance to choose again?”

Ye Qing drew a small, exquisite pistol from his waist, loaded with six 9mm pure silver bullets. If one wasn’t enough, there was a Type 92 pistol under the car seat.

One shot to the heart, one to the brain, and he’d be free.

Ye Qing turned the gun towards himself, silently placing his finger on the trigger in the darkness, but hesitated to pull it.

The community was as deserted as ever, the underground parking lot quiet in the night.

Suddenly, a sharp melody blared in the car. A cell phone on the passenger seat lit up, illuminating the interior and ringing. Ye Qing instinctively shielded his eyes from the light, then realized vampires weren’t afraid of such electronic lights.

It was Li Yuebai’s phone, left in the car, displaying an unfamiliar number.

Could it be Li Yuebai calling from another phone? Ye Qing frowned, then answered almost unconsciously.

“…” He immediately realized his voice was hoarse and unintelligible.

The voice on the other end wasn’t Li Yuebai’s, but a little girl’s.

“…Brother? Officer brother?” The little girl sounded no more than five or six years old, her voice very childish, yet somewhat familiar.

Ye Qing usually had a good memory, but he didn’t have the energy to recall and planned to hang up.

But fate was unpredictable; he glanced up and saw the girl who had called him.

“Officer, please help me, Xiao Wan is so scared…” The girl, clutching a teddy bear, huddled in a corner of the underground parking lot, sobbing uncontrollably while holding her phone.

Ye Qing suddenly remembered everything.

Several days ago, he and Li Yuebai had rescued a girl named Xiao Wan here. Her family lived upstairs, and her parents often argued and fought. That day, she had accidentally encountered the female vampire, Countess Karnstein… After rescuing her, he personally took her home and left his phone number— Li Yuebai’s.

By some twist of fate, Li Yuebai’s phone was left on the passenger seat, which was why he answered it.

The little girl in the corner wiped away her tears and looked up— then she saw him in the car.

The car lights were off, but the phone screen provided enough light to illuminate his face.

“Huh? Officer, you’re back?” Xiao Wan’s tears turned to smiles, feeling like she’d finally found a savior. Her parents had a terrible relationship, and she’d always lived in constant fear. Now, finally seeing someone she trusted, she was overjoyed. Without a second thought, she grabbed her teddy bear and ran towards Ye Qing’s car.

She was barefoot, still wearing her pajamas, her arms and legs exposed, covered in bruises and various injuries.

The last time Ye Qing took Xiao Wan home, he only sensed that her parents seemed to have bad tempers, so he didn’t stay long. He hadn’t expected things to escalate to this point.

Xiao Wan’s parents were business owners, but recently their business had been struggling, resulting in losses. Adding to their woes, both parents were having affairs, pushing their emotions to the brink of explosion; their home had thus become a powder keg. Xiao Wan’s previous encounter with the vampire had already greatly distressed her mother, who often suspected she was lying to gain affection. Moreover recently, her father even began to suspect that Xiao Wan wasn’t his biological daughter, but rather the product of his wife’s affair. Taking advantage of a drunken outburst, he struck Xiao Wan several times. Although he didn’t hit her hard, the injury was severe enough for such a young child.

Fortunately, Xiao Wan’s father was quite drunk; after hitting her, he muttered curses and fell asleep on the sofa. Afraid to stay home, Xiao Wan secretly took her phone and teddy bear and ran away alone.

Ever since her encounter with the vampire in the underground parking lot, she had been traumatized and terrified of its reappearance. Yet now, she rushed to the underground parking lot without hesitation— because she clearly remembered that the two police officers had appeared there last time. They lived there, and whenever they went home, they would definitely drive over.

So, she huddled in a corner, clutching her teddy bear and phone, waiting for the two people she remembered who could save her to appear. Although young, the phone was very familiar to her; she had already memorized her brother’s number and knew how to call. Unexpectedly, the moment she dialled, they arrived.

Xiao Wan ran to the car, timidly wanting to get closer, yet hesitant. She hugged her teddy bear tightly and cautiously looked at Ye Qing through the glass: “Police officers…”

Her voice trailed off.

Inside the car, Ye Qing was pale, his expression cold, with strange patterns under his eyes, radiating the same aura as the vampire from that day.

Xiao Wan was stunned, completely bewildered by what had happened. He was the most trustworthy person in the world, so why…?

She stood frozen, unable to escape, wanting to scream—

Ye Qing tossed his phone back onto the car seat, opened the door, and calmly carried her inside.

Xiao Wan was so frightened she almost fainted. In her panic, she bit Ye Qing’s hand hard.

It was as cold as stone, devoid of warmth.

Just like the female vampire in the red dress from that day.

Actually, Ye Qing was only one step away from a breakdown.

He followed his instincts, carrying Xiao Wan into the car, but he hadn’t expected this action to be irreversible— a sweet scent filled the car, exuding a maddening allure. The desire he had barely suppressed with Li Yuebai had now returned a thousandfold, like someone starving for seven days and nights suddenly seeing food and water… utterly irresistible.

“Brother…brother…” Xiao Wan trembled with fear, curling up in a ball on the seat.

She had scrapes and cuts on her body, emitting a deadly smell of blood.

The phone rang again; this time it was the museum’s landline, Li Yuebai calling.

Xiao Wan was terrified and rushed to answer, screaming, “Help…help!”

Before she could utter a second cry, Ye Qing had already grabbed her throat.

“Xiao Ye?” Li Yuebai’s voice was more panicked than ever before: “Please, calm down, it’s all my fault…”

Damn it.

Just hearing his voice was enough for Ye Qing to lose control.

He pulled the girl close, brought her fair, delicate neck to his mouth, and bit down.

The call was cut off as soon as it connected; Li Yuebai didn’t even know if it was Ye Qing on the other end. He heard the girl scream “help,” and some static, but he didn’t hear Ye Qing’s voice.

The more he thought about it, the more horrified he became.
