Oh, speaking of which, not everyone was love-struck. At least Brother Lin was pretty normal; he didn’t constantly talk about liking people.

Because Brother Lin had always been “upright,” no matter what others said, Yan Han had never entertained such thoughts.

First of all, he didn’t even know if Lin Jianlu liked men.

Their conversations were almost always about studying and missions, and Yan Han didn’t think Lin Jianlu was the type to talk about love and romance.

His intelligence was different from others… because there had never been any hint of that, sometimes Yan Han even wondered if he was incapable of having feelings.

Secondly, Brother Lin wasn’t some old man who couldn’t find a partner and had to settle for just anyone.

This body of his wasn’t even eighteen yet.

…There’s plenty of time after the mission is completed; he could think about this later.

As Yan Han was contemplating life, the whistle blew for preparation.

The surroundings suddenly became extremely quiet, as if everyone was holding their breath before the referee served the ball.

Yan Han also looked up to see what was happening. Another whistle blew, the referee inbounded the ball, and the instant the ball was served, Lin Jianlu sprang up like a spring, his long arm outstretched, his wrist snapping to hook the ball. He then landed on his feet and began a sprint!

Before the game started, both players were glaring at each other, seemingly provoking each other.

When the referee inbounded the ball, Wei Ningxin didn’t seem to expect Lin Jianlu to be so quick to react.

So he was beaten to the punch, and by the time he reacted, Lin Jianlu had already dribbled past him. Seeing that Lin Jianlu was about to reach the backboard, Wei Ningxin couldn’t catch up in time!

Lin Jianlu’s hand was steady; just before reaching the backboard, he jumped high again, assuming a shooting stance. The movement was fluid and powerful; the basketball slammed through the rim with a “thud,” and Lin Jianlu won the game right from the start!

Cheers erupted from the crowd!

Unexpectedly, Lin Jianlu launched a sudden attack, but the rules of 1v1 are different from those of a formal match, and taking the lead doesn’t mean anything.

Despite being outscored early, Wei Ningxin didn’t get angry; instead, he nonchalantly returned to the center court, getting into position for the next round. In the second round, Wei Ningxin was on guard, and Lin Jianlu’s attempt to repeat his trick failed. After the ball was thrown, both players jumped to grab it, with Wei Ningxin getting to it first.

But before he could even smile in victory, just as he landed and was about to dribble, Lin Jianlu, who had landed earlier and stabilized himself, suddenly snatched the ball away and dribbled towards the basket.

A gasp rippled through the crowd. Although the ball was stolen, Wei Ningxin reacted incredibly quickly, chasing after Lin Jianlu.

The two were only a step apart, and Lin Jianlu’s speed was clearly no match for Wei Ningxin’s; he was slowly being overtaken and might even have the ball stolen again near the basket.

This moment made everyone watching the game incredibly tense. All the experienced players hesitated between attempting a dunk and temporarily changing direction to shake off Wei Ningxin. But Lin Jianlu had already made his choice. He didn’t change direction; instead, he accelerated past the three-point line and ran to the basket, immediately assuming a dunking stance.

Wei Ningxin, only half a step away, leaped to steal the ball, but Lin Jianlu only made a fake move, drawing Wei Ningxin’s shot before changing direction while Wei Ningxin was still in mid-air. He jumped and slammed the ball towards the basket again!

Despite this, Wei Ningxin’s reaction was extraordinary. He reacted swiftly upon realizing the feint, jumping again after landing. The ball, about to slam into the basket, was still stolen, and due to the force, it flew through the air in an arc, crashing directly into the opposite half of the court.

The next instant, both players simultaneously chased after the ball.

A best-of-three match, which should have ended quickly, was dragged out for over ten minutes by the two players fighting tooth and nail.

Although Wei Ningxin ultimately won with two consecutive victories, even Yan Han, who knew Wei Ningxin’s skill level, was deeply astonished.

Not to mention Lin Jianlu scoring a basket, his performance in the following two close games was truly astonishing!

…Lin Jianlu wasn’t this good when he participated in basketball competitions last semester.

Furthermore, Wei Ningxin’s basketball skills had improved recently. For Lin Jianlu to fight for so long over two baskets under such a significant skill gap… even though he lost, it was a valiant defeat!

Even Wei Ningxin himself was speechless with a serious expression. He had disdained watching basketball competitions last semester, so he never imagined that the university’s top student, known for his high intelligence, could actually play basketball!

The first basket was taken by an opponent who caught him off guard; winning was fine, Wei Ningxin didn’t care.

But his subsequent performance…

Now, the opponent’s skills and performance were clearly on display, there was no faking it.

Although he couldn’t beat him, such strength was definitely enough to compete in the upcoming first and second year basketball games.

Wei Ningxin was speechless. Even if he was in a bad mood, he couldn’t act arrogantly in front of Lin Jianlu at this moment. He only left with the words, “You can participate in the game,” and then left.

Immediately afterward, amidst the cheers and jeers of the crowd, the students of Class 14 swarmed forward, surrounding Lin Jianlu and praising him as awesome!

Even those who didn’t understand basketball could see how awesome Lin Jianlu was, having been able to go toe-to-toe with Wei Ningxin for so long. Besides his natural and cool posture, Lin Jianlu had “snatched food from the tiger’s mouth” several times, running around the court with Wei Ningxin. His judgment and the fluidity of his movements far exceeded expectations. Most importantly, how long had their Lin Jianlu been playing basketball?!

Amidst the praise and the enthusiastic declarations of love, Lin Jianlu remained calm… and headed straight for the restroom.

He was drenched in sweat, and the best thing to do at a time like this was to go upstairs and take a shower, but he had to wash his hands first.

Yan Han, without exception, was also called to wash his hands with him.

The onlookers were puzzled, but fortunately, everyone in Class 14 knew the rules and simply accepted it, indicating that everyone should leave.
