After the software was developed, Zhuang Li’s research on gene-modifying agents also accelerated.

It was precisely because of the software’s powerful computing capabilities that he was able to analyze every gene fragment of Si Ming and thus find the code to modify them.

More than a month later, Zhuang Li walked out of the laboratory, took off his goggles, and said to the researchers who were waiting for him, “It was a success.”

After a long moment of stunned silence, everyone burst into ecstatic cheers, “It worked?”

Is it true?

“Can we go in and see Tony?”

Zhuang Li pointed to the glass door behind him and nodded with a smile: “Go in, don’t scare Tony. This afternoon we’ll submit the application to our superiors and start human experiments. Have you found any volunteers?”

“We’ve found the right people! Many people have heard about our research project and have applied. I heard that some people have even spent tens of millions to buy a spot.” The researchers flocked into the lab, surrounding the monkey named Tony and staring at it intently, their faces beaming with joy.

Tony was so frightened that he paced around in the cage, one arm hanging limply at his side, while the other arm shook the iron bars with all his might, and he was making some kind of incoherent noises.

A young researcher, having nothing better to do, added a voiceover: “Let me out, let me out, you damned humans!”

Everyone burst into laughter. After checking Tony’s latest medical report, they sighed with a touch of melancholy, “Without us damn humans, Tony, you’d be dead! You have ALS!”

“Tony’s illness is cured, but unfortunately his hand is still paralyzed. He can no longer climb trees and can only pick fruit from the ground to eat.” A researcher bent down, stared at Tony’s arm hanging on the ground, and shook his head regretfully.

“The arm can also recover,” Zhuang Li, who was standing aside checking the experimental data, suddenly said.

“Really? Professor Zhuang, do you have a way to make its arm move again?” All the researchers looked at Zhuang Li with expectant expressions.

“Yes, this is my next research project: brain-computer interface technology. It integrates the brain, the human body, and machinery into a completely new life form. This life form possesses superhuman physical strength, intelligence, and lifespan, and can survive well in any environment.” Zhuang Li casually described the future while filling out the forms.

A group of researchers listened with rapt attention, murmuring, “Isn’t that a mechanical warrior?”

Zhuang Li thought for a moment and explained, “They are not mechanical warriors, but more accurately, a super race that is made of steel wrapped in flesh and blood, and flesh wrapped in steel, and can live for hundreds of years without aging.”

The researchers: “…” This is way cooler than a mechanical warrior!

….

Two months later, Zhuang Li was invited to attend Mr. Si’s 70th birthday celebration.

When he arrived, the Si family home was already brightly lit and filled with the sounds of clinking glasses and toasts.

Those who came to the banquet were all famous and important figures. They either gathered in twos and threes to drink, or a dozen or so people sat around a table chatting and laughing. Beautiful women with cloud-like hair walked around gracefully with wine glasses in hand, while gentlemen in suits sat in the corner taking a break with cigarettes in their hands. The scene inside and outside the venue was one of luxury and extravagance.

Si Ming, holding the little curly-haired boy’s hand, led him through the fragrant living room and up the spiral staircase with its crystal chandelier, searching for a private space.

Some people saw them, but they just smiled and nodded without approaching to say anything.

This young master Si was known for his eccentric temper. He never attended social events and lived like a ghost.

Xiu Zhaotian, on the other hand, often brought his illegitimate son to banquets and introduced him to prominent elders, as if paving the way for them. The old master Si was still alive, and he dared to overturn the Si family’s power; who gave him the audacity?

Now things were really messed up. Old Master Si was completely enraged by him. A while ago, he took back all the properties in his hands, including the luxurious villa that belonged to the Xiu family, and put a “For Sale” sign on it, effectively kicking them out.

The Xiu Zhaotian of today was no longer the powerful and influential CEO he once was; he was nothing more than a homeless and destitute man.

The Xiu family, to put it nicely, was one of the top wealthy families in B City; but to put it bluntly, it was just the dowry that Mrs. Si brought with her. How could Xiu Zhaotian, a gigolo who lived off a woman, have the nerve to keep a mistress and illegitimate child under Old Master Si’s nose? He must be out of his mind.

Thinking of this, the guests couldn’t help but chuckle to themselves, glancing at Xiu Zhaotian and Xiu Yue standing in the corner with obvious mockery in their eyes.

The Xiu family father and son raised their glasses and smiled in return, but inwardly they were suppressing their anger and embarrassment.

Xiu Yue stared at Si Ming and Zhuang Li as they slowly walked up to the second floor. His eyes darkened, and he said to his father, “Dad, I’m going to the restroom.”

“Come back quickly, I’ll take you to see your grandfather later,” Xiu Zhaotian instructed.

“Okay.” Xiu Yue nodded with a smile.

The father and son addressed Old Master Si as “Grandpa” without any formality, which seemed like politeness, but in reality, it was because they already considered the Si family as their own.

No sooner had Xiu Yue left than Old Master Si came out, accompanied by Zhong Xingyun, with Si Ming nowhere to be seen.

Everyone was already used to Si Ming’s absence, so they weren’t surprised and quickly surrounded him to offer their blessings.
