Li Yuebai’s pupils contracted, and he leaped up, finding a fleeting opening amidst the countless blades to dodge.

Fortunately, due to his earlier words, some vampires were a little slower and hesitant, their weapons not thrown with the same speed, thus giving him a sliver of a chance to escape.

However, the attacks were too dense, and a pure silver dagger still pierced Li Yuebai’s shoulder, splattering blood.

The vampires held their breath, waiting.

Vampires feared pure silver most of all; since this Vila had become a vampire, the pure silver weapon would surely burn charred wounds on his body, wounds that would take a long time to heal.

However, this did not happen.

Li Yuebai smiled, then he reached out and pulled out the pure silver dagger, holding it in his hand and weighing it.

His wound bled, but there were no burn marks, and the pure silver dagger remained unresponsive in his hand.

“This… how could this be…” The vampires were stunned.

Even the Impaler King feared pure silver; it was impossible for him to be immune. Every vampire had to abide by the most basic vampire principle: pure silver was the nemesis of vampires, without a doubt.

“Let me explain. Just as the pure silver dagger was about to pierce me, I transformed myself back into Vila.” Li Yuebai deliberately lowered his voice, but his words still drove the vampires into a frenzy.

Vila, it was Vila! Vila was back!

An intoxicating aura emanated from the blood flowing from the wound, and the circle of vampires immediately wanted to rush forward and devour the person in front of them.

Not long after waking up, Li Yuebai had asked the system what he had become.

….

“System, have I become a vampire?” Li Yuebai had asked at the time.

“Yes,” the judge replied, “During the brief period when you were unconscious, the dormant entity invaded your body.”

“Do I still possess Vila’s characteristics?” Li Yuebai asked, still uneasy.

“Not at all now,” the judge answered. “However, you now possess a constitution that can change at will.”

“Change at will?” Li Yuebai was startled, feeling as if heaven was finally beginning to favor him.

“Yes, because you have both vila and vampire within you,” the Judge said, “to avoid conflict between the two, your body has chosen a switching mode. You can choose your constitution and switch at any time.”

….

Sensing the vampires’ restless movements, Li Yuebai immediately snapped his fingers, threw away the pure silver dagger, and switched back to vampire mode.

The wound from before immediately began to heal slowly. After all, the pure silver dagger was no longer in contact with the wound; to a vampire’s body, it was just an ordinary wound.

“See? You can’t defeat me like this.” Li Yuebai listened quietly to the vampires’ gasps: “Those willing to die, come at me; those who want to save their lives, you’d better run away now.”

As soon as he finished speaking, wisps of black smoke appeared from the dark mass of vampires, and several gaps appeared in the previously complete encirclement— as expected, some vampires had escaped. They had already harbored rebellious intentions and were no longer willing to follow the Impaler King. Now that the opportunity was so perfect, if they didn’t escape now, when would they?

The remaining vampires, perhaps intimidated by the Impaler King’s power, or perhaps not believing that someone with both vampire and Vila traits could be that formidable, gripped their weapons again and attacked Li Yuebai.

So what if he possessed two traits? What was there to fear? Besides, since he could switch back to Vila, they still had a chance to drink his blood… No vampire could resist such temptation.

Li Yuebai sneered, switched back to Vila mode, and picked up the pure silver dagger from the ground.

The vampire closest to him, smelling the alluring Vila scent first, immediately rushed forward recklessly. The intense temptation caused him to lose his composure, his movements becoming stumbling and chaotic. Li Yuebai easily plunged the dagger into his heart.

The vampires further away had also caught the scent of Vila and swarmed towards Li Yuebai. But just as they were about to touch him, they lost their target once more— Li Yuebai switched back to vampire form, leaped into the air, and used their heads as footholds to jump out of the circle. He then kicked several vampires in the back, causing the entire encirclement to crumble.

Even more terrifying was that Li Yuebai, as Vila, had shed a considerable amount of blood in the coffin, some of which had dripped onto the ground. Now, this blood had once again attracted the vampires’ attention— they frantically pounced, dipping their long fingernails in the blood and licking it without a care, some even lying on the ground to drink it. Although reason told them that their true target was behind them, their instincts made them unable to resist.

Having embarked on this transmigration journey for so long, Li Yuebai was finally experiencing the feeling of having a cheat code for the first time.

As long as he mastered the timing of switching forms, defeating this group of vampires would be a piece of cake.

….

Not far away, Ye Qing, who was struggling to hold on, couldn’t help but be distracted. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw countless vampires surrounding Li Yuebai, and alarm bells immediately went off in his mind. He wanted to rush over to help, but Gao Chengyu held him back.

Gao Chengyu’s face already showed a determined expression. He didn’t know what had happened to the Vila, but he trusted his men. With so many people, there was no way the Vila could escape.

However, when he looked back at the crystal coffin, he only saw charred vampire corpses all over the ground.

What happened? Had Gu Xisha defeated all his men?

Gao Chengyu rarely encountered something so unexpected, and he couldn’t help but gasp.

However, the scene before him forced him to believe it.

Li Yuebai wiped the blood splattered on his face, stepped over the charred bones, and walked step by step towards Gao Chengyu. “Gao Chengyu, you have lost.”

Li Yuebai’s voice was devoid of emotion.

After so many days, he finally dared to speak so frankly. It had been a long time since he had done so.

“Oh?” Gao Chengyu summoned a transparent barrier with magic to shield himself before turning back to look at Li Yuebai. What he saw there stunned him.

The Vila before him was clearly no longer Vila; he had become a vampire.

His skin color, his appearance… his aura, his voice… everything about him had lost all traces of Vila, instead radiating the aura of a vampire.

He had only known that Li Yuebai was playing some trick, that he had a backup plan, but he hadn’t expected it to be this.

This also explained why Li Yuebai had tried to bite his tongue and commit suicide… because he carried a dormant form within him, and his goal was to become a vampire.

The Vila Gao Chengyu had dreamed of had been switched right under his nose.

“I’m afraid you’ll have to think of a new way to save your rule.” Li Yuebai shook his head helplessly. “Using the Vila’s blood to rule your subordinates is a good idea, but unfortunately, I’m no longer the Vila.”

“So what if you’re no longer the Vila?” Gao Chengyu laughed angrily. “Gu Xisha, have you forgotten that we still have a score to settle?”

He prided himself on his ability to navigate both the underworld and the legitimate world, but he never expected to be defeated by this arrogant police officer. This grudge, of course, had to be avenged. Even if the other party was no longer the Vila, he would hold him in his hands and torture him bit by bit until the end of time to vent his hatred.

How could he forget?

Li Yuebai nodded coldly.

He remembered Liang Tian’s death in the morgue clearly, and he would never forget it for the rest of his life.

Moreover, if they were talking about settling scores, the original owner, Gu Xisha, remembered the names of all the victims who died at Gao Chengyu’s hands. The list was simply too long.

A familiar shadow flashed past, and Ye Qing swept over from a distance, steadily blocking Li Yuebai’s path.

Li Yuebai’s first reaction was to quickly retreat and dodge. Then, a thought struck him, and he realized again— he was no longer a Vila and wouldn’t have any negative impact on Ye Qing. Only then did he stop.

The recent harrowing events and bloodshed were nothing compared to what truly tormented him: being constantly isolated from Ye Qing, even communicating only through text via the system. This kind of partnership was truly rare, incredibly stifling.

So now, seeing Ye Qing standing so close, he felt only peace, utter peace.

“Are you alright?” he hurriedly asked Ye Qing through the system.

“I’m fine.” Ye Qing’s voice remained cold and indifferent, but to Li Yuebai, it sounded reassuring.

“Host, the countdown has two hours left,” the Judge promptly reminded him.

“That’s enough,” Li Yuebai replied.

Now that Gao Chengyu’s men were not around, if he fought to the death, he might be able to kill him within two hours…

Li Yuebai did not dare to underestimate Gao Chengyu at all. This person not only had enough magic power and combat strength, but was also cunning enough. Even if he went all out, he would inevitably be found to have a weakness. If he was not careful, he would be the one who was defeated.
