“Are you alright?” Sheng Ziyou frowned as she looked at Ji Ran.

Ji Ran nodded haphazardly, then said with a hopeful look, “My grandma…”

“She’s still in surgery, please sit down first.” Gu Yuzheng helped Ji Ran sit down on the other side of Sheng Ziyou, and Lu Jiangyuan’s face became even colder.

Ji Ran’s face was extremely pale, almost bloodless.

He was already thin, and looking at him like this, he had an even more sickly beauty.

Lu Jiangyuan’s face was so cold it was unbearable to look at, but no one cared about him now.

Ji Ran was completely focused on the operating room, while Sheng Ziyou was talking to Yang Yun: “What’s the situation now?”

“Everything has been taken care of. The reporters have mostly left. They all thought Ji Ran was still in the hospital. Nobody knew we were here,” Yang Yun said.

Sheng Ziyou nodded.

Yang Yun’s expression was somewhat complicated. She glanced at Ji Ran, then at Lu Jiangyuan.

“What’s wrong?” Sheng Ziyou asked.

Yang Yun gritted her teeth and said bluntly, “Sister You, Sister Zhao scolded you for being ignorant and meddling in other people’s business.”

She would say frankly that there was a reason for it. Her own artist was working so hard for Ji Ran, and she was actually a little unhappy about it, so she couldn’t help but feel a little resentful towards Ji Ran.

Sheng Ziyou glared at her, while Lu Jiangyuan gave the assistant an appreciative look.

Ji Ran’s face paled, and he turned to look at Sheng Ziyou, his pale face filled with gratitude: “Thank you… Teacher Sheng, thank you…”

Before Sheng Ziyou could say anything, the operating room door opened. So Ji Ran immediately turned around, struggled to get up, and stumbled toward the operating room. Gu Yuzheng stepped forward to help him.

“Doctor, how is she?!”

The surgery took quite a while, and even in the dead of winter, Professor Tang was sweating profusely. “It’s alright now. She’ll have to stay in the hospital for observation for a while longer. A doctor will come and tell you about the precautions then.”

Professor Tang glanced at Ji Ran’s troubled expression and couldn’t help but say, “Young man, you should rest for a bit too. Don’t worry, she’ll be fine.”

“Okay… thank you, thank you.” Ji Ran said, bowing his weak body to Professor Tang.

Professor Tang accepted the greeting, then shook his head helplessly, said goodbye to Lu Jiangyuan, and left.

The nurses wheeled Grandma Ji out and took her to her ward to get an IV drip.

Ji Ran and the others followed, but not wanting to disturb the patient, they all stood at the door.

Ji Ran looked at his grandmother for a long time before turning to Sheng Ziyou with tears streaming down his face.

“You…” She had just opened her mouth when Ji Ran bowed to her in return.

Sheng Ziyou fell silent.

He looked up, his face full of sincerity: “Teacher Sheng, thank you so much. From now on, even if you want my life, I’ll give it to you!”

His eyes were still a little red, yet he made such a promise.

He knew, of course, that Sheng Ziyou had gone to great lengths to save his grandmother’s life, transferring her from another hospital to this private one and successfully saving her life. He knew the doctor from before; he had known this professor since his grandmother’s first illness.

However, inviting this professor was no easy feat…

He couldn’t do it, at least not on his own.

“What would I do with your life?” Sheng Ziyou smiled helplessly and said, “Ji Ran, after this incident, you need to know that you can’t act impulsively. You must think carefully about the consequences. Don’t you think about what would happen if something happened to you today, or if something happened to your grandmother?”

Ji Ran bit his lower lip, nodded, and looked full of regret.

He overestimated his physical abilities, which resulted in such a commotion.

“Um… I won’t do it again, thank you, Teacher Sheng…” Ji Ran thanked her again.

He deeply regretted it. After this incident, he realized that he was still immature and his thinking was not comprehensive enough.

Ji Ran simply couldn’t imagine what would happen if he woke up this time, and his grandmother…

He would go crazy.

“Ji Ran, this is Lu Jiangyuan. He’s the one who found Professor Tang and arranged the surgery,” Sheng Ziyou introduced the person next to her to Ji Ran.

Ji Ran had seen this person before, so he naturally knew that this person was Sheng Ziyou’s boss.

“Thank you…” His eyes were full of gratitude.

Lu Jiangyuan looked at him calmly: “Yes, I used my name to handle the procedures for your grandmother. I will send you the bill later.”

Ji Ran was still full of gratitude, even though he knew it would be a considerable expense, he still smiled.

Nothing was more important than his grandmother’s life. Lu Jiangyuan only asked him to provide the expenses, when arranging the surgery, inviting Professor Tang, and having a big boss like himself come over… These were the real favors.

Ji Ran knew that Lu Jiangyuan was invited by Sheng Ziyou. He was grateful to Lu Jiangyuan, and even more grateful to Sheng Ziyou.

“Of course,” Ji Ran said sincerely.

Lu Jiangyuan remained silent.

Although this kid caused trouble for Sheng Ziyou, it was clear he was still a responsible person…

“Where are Fu Jiahuan and the others?” Sheng Ziyou asked Gu Yu Zheng, who was supporting Ji Ran.

The other party quickly explained to her that Ji Ran insisted on coming here after learning about his grandmother’s situation. His manager naturally accompanied him, so there was no need for the production crew; so they were probably going back to report. Sheng Ziyou had brought quite a few trainees, and Sister Xu, fearing further accidents, took them all back, leaving only Gu Yuzheng with Ji Ran.

Ji Ran was alright, so Lin Yidong and the others naturally felt relieved and went back home.

Sheng Ziyou nodded after listening. Now that only “our own people” were left, she glanced at the time and looked at Ji Ran: “Ji Ran is fine now. We should respond online as soon as possible. You and your agent should discuss how to respond.”

Ji Ran nodded: “I understand.”

Everything he did this time was for his debut. Even though it almost caused a disaster, he still had to seize this opportunity, otherwise he would have gained nothing.

“There’s one more thing…” Sheng Ziyou hesitated for a moment.

Ji Ran looked puzzled, his pale lips moving slightly: “Is there anything else?”

“The production team probably doesn’t want you to go back…”

Ji Ran swayed, and if Gu Yuzheng hadn’t been supporting him, he might have collapsed.

But Sheng Ziyou couldn’t remain silent, otherwise, once the production team made their decision, Ji Ran might really be unable to return.

After the incident this morning, many reporters went to the program team, and netizens also asked the program team for an explanation. The program team certainly didn’t want Ji Ran to go back to continue participating in the competition, in case something else happened.

“Do you want to go back?” Sheng Ziyou asked.

Ji Ran nodded without hesitation. He was now even more in debt, and if he couldn’t debut, his life would probably be even more difficult.

“Then you should talk to the production team first and then respond to the online comments. You can avoid making the production team take any responsibility, but the production team must agree to your return.” Sheng Ziyou carefully analyzed for Ji Ran, and Gu Yuzheng listened attentively.

Ji Ran signed with a big company, but just by looking at this agent, you could tell he was not very useful.

Clearly, the agency didn’t value Ji Ran that much, and the agent might not be able to handle these matters well. Sheng Ziyou only felt at ease after analyzing everything for Ji Ran.

After listening, Ji Ran nodded and forced a smile: “Teacher Sheng… I don’t even know how many times I’ve thanked you…”

“Foolish.” Sheng Ziyou shook her head. “I also bear responsibility for this. It’s my duty.”

“No, it’s all my fault. I was too impulsive.” Grandma was still lying in bed, and Ji Ran knew very well where he had gone wrong.

This matter actually had nothing to do with Teacher Sheng. She gave him the idea for his own good, and she had asked him to fake his illness, all that happened later was a consequence of his own decision, so how could it be blamed on Teacher Sheng?

Sheng Ziyou didn’t argue with him about that, and instead asked, “Are you feeling alright? Are you sure you can go back to the show?”

“OK.” Ji Ran nodded.

Sheng Ziyou glanced at his face and realized that he was just putting on a brave face.

“Teacher Sheng, don’t worry,” Gu Yuzheng said. “I will take Ji Ran back to the hospital later, and I will let him go back only after I make sure he is alright.”

Sheng Ziyou nodded. Gu Yuzheng was always calm and composed, which reassured her somewhat.

“If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back now,” Sheng Ziyou said.

“Okay, take care, Teacher Sheng.” Ji Ran’s eyes showed guilt; he had really kept Teacher Sheng up for too long today.

Sheng Ziyou glanced at Ji Ran’s Grandma again before turning around. Then she noticed the man next to her who hadn’t left.

Sheng Ziyou: “…”

After a moment, she said, “Shall we go together?”

“Okay.” Lu Jiangyuan replied without hesitation.

Sheng Ziyou: “…Please.”

“President Lu—” Ji Ran called out again from behind.

Lu Jiangyuan turned around, his face expressionless.

Ji Ran forced a smile through her pale lips: “Thank you.”

“Hmm.” Lu Jiangyuan responded casually and left with Sheng Ziyou.

Neither of them spoke the rest of the way. When the elevator reached the parking garage, Sheng Ziyou forced herself to thank Lu Jiangyuan again.

“Lu…Lu Jiangyuan, thank you so much for today.”

She originally wanted to say “President Lu,” but then she remembered that Lu Jiangyuan had said to call him by his name.

In another world, she had called him “Lu Jiangyuan” most of the time, so she was very familiar with that name.

Lu Jiangyuan shook his head, his voice somewhat helpless: “You’re still so cold on the outside but warm on the inside, and so overly kind-hearted.”

The tone of those words was familiar; Lu Jiangyuan had said them more than once in another world.

Sheng Ziyou suddenly looked up and stared straight at Lu Jiangyuan.

The author has something to say:

Many people… don’t understand why Lu Jiangyuan is the male lead…

Actually…

He’s just someone who picks up bargains.

Because the boy band members, when choosing this one, I can’t bear to part with that one; when choosing that one, U can’t bear to part with this one…

So in the end, he got the bargain.

Lu Jiangyuan: ……………………………………Oh, hehe
