In Cao Xun’s view, he, as the commander, was currently in the most danger. The situation in the middle lane was unknown. If those two enemies were indeed heading this way, they would probably arrive soon.

At that point, whether they take him down or not, destroying the crystal will be a piece of cake.

Bai Yue: “It’s alright.”

Cao Xun: “What?”

Bai Yue looked at the person not far away. The person had stood up after taking down Xu Chengdong and met his gaze. But he just stood there and didn’t come over.

Two other people came out from the middle lane, probably the enemies who had just taken down the bearded man.

Bai Yue: “Now all three of them will stay in the camp.”

It seems the enemy wants to wipe them all out.

This put the blue team in a very awkward position.

Cao Xun’s brain was working at high speed.

Although he admired S+ level, he also knew that the biggest advantage of gene level was pheromone suppression. And now, this ability was restricted by the rules. It would be difficult for Bai Yue to fight three against one in hand-to-hand combat. But if he wanted to retreat, no matter which way he went, there would inevitably be an open path.

The enemy now had three people free to move. If they randomly pick one to go down the empty lane, they could immediately reach their camp and destroy the crystal.

This would guarantee their defeat.

Should they leave Bai Yue behind to hold off Mu Sihan until he arrived?

Cao Xun hesitated, unable to decide.

Bai Yue: “Our target this time doesn’t necessarily have to be the crystal.”

Hearing this, Cao Xun was slightly taken aback.

Bai Yue touched his earpiece and lowered his voice: “Do you remember the rules we discussed before entering the arena?”

The rules before entering the arena?

Reminded, Cao Xun suddenly remembered what Captain Fu Cheng had said— if more than half of the team’s members died, the entire team was considered eliminated.

“I remember, but…” Cao Xun said, “That’s a rule for us. These are virtual enemies; they shouldn’t have this restriction.”

Bai Yue smiled: “Preconceived notions are dangerous.”

Cao Xun was stunned. The other party had said that before.

Bai Yue: “You weren’t there, so you might not be able to make an accurate judgment. But these enemies’ behavior is indeed a bit strange.”

They resembled virtual enemies in appearance and didn’t wear headsets to communicate like they did. But even without any communication, they seemed to know about everyone’s situation and make corresponding judgments.

What Bai Yue found most suspicious was their act of sabotaging the communicators.

In any case, if his guess was correct, then they actually had two strategies.

One was to destroy the crystal; the other was to reduce the number of enemies to less than half.

Although Bai Yue was communicating with Cao Xun, he was actually paying attention to his surroundings. Apart from the person who killed Xu Chengdong who was still guarding the spot, the other two were slowly walking towards him.

They didn’t attack immediately, seemingly observing the situation.

But they should be here soon.

Bai Yue’s gaze fell on one of them. The other person was wearing a uniform and came from the Pheromones Research Institute.

But he only glanced at him before turning to face the other enemy.

“I’ll take care of this guy as soon as possible.”

Cao Xun finally came to his senses. “But… even so, including this guy, there are only two, not even half.”

Bai Yue suddenly said, “Mu Sihan has another one.”

Cao Xun: “Huh?”

Bai Yue: “He’s very strong, he can definitely defeat that guy.”

All five of them had their communicators connected, so Bai Yue’s words were clearly heard by Mu Sihan.

He withdrew his foot and coldly stared at the tall enemy in front of him.

This person was almost two meters tall and muscular. Although he had a slight advantage in technique, the difference in weight meant that his attacks didn’t have much effect.

However, after so many rounds, he had figured out the opponent’s attack habits.

Mu Sihan coldly said, “I’ll finish this in half a minute.”

Hearing the reply, Bai Yue smiled and put his arms in front of him. He pushed off with his back foot and charged straight at the enemy.

The enemy was obviously flustered for a few seconds by his sudden aggression, which slowed his movements down.

This reaction made Bai Yue even more certain that these people were real.

Although he didn’t know what methods they had used to disguise their appearance.

However, that wasn’t the point.

All he needed to do now was take this guy down as quickly as possible!

Just as he was about to kick the guy’s chin, his enemy comrade stepped in to block. Bai Yue noticed the killing intent out of the corner of his eye and dodged it in time.

Sure enough, they were coming.

The opponent was coming aggressively. Although they were from the Pheromones Research Institute, their skills were not weak.

But in Bai Yue’s eyes, they were not enough.

After dodging the attack, he retreated. The opponent immediately pressed his advantage. Then, as if hearing some command, they suddenly stopped. They then turned their heads and looked behind them.

Bai Yue followed their gaze. He found that the opponent was looking at the person standing in front of the red crystal.

Was that person their commander?

The thought flashed through his mind. The enemy only paused for a moment and then continued to charge.

Bai Yue stopped and attacked backhand.

It was exactly what he wanted.

Because from the beginning, his target was this person from the Pheromones Research Institute.

Another enemy also reacted quickly and came to help, attacking Bai Yue’s side directly.

Bai Yue neither dodged nor avoided, and took the blow head-on. Without pausing, he grabbed the pheromone researcher’s shoulder and slammed him to the ground—!

Dust billowed up. The soft earth beneath his feet kicked up a cloud of dust.

Bai Yue pinned his enemy down, his knees braced against the shoulders, his hands supporting the back of the head, ready to snap the neck.

But even with his life in danger, the enemy’s expression remained unchanged. Like a puppet, he was terrifyingly calm.

Suddenly, even though no one was approaching, Bai Yue’s arms were gripped and twisted backward with force.

His hands began to tremble almost imperceptibly, and he smelled the scent of grass.

Bai Yue looked at the enemy beneath him.

A pheromone attack?

So far, Bai Yue had tasted the pheromones of other alphas. But apart from the female leader’s, no one’s pheromones had ever affected him.

This enemy’s gene level was probably A-grade, but his methods were incredibly flexible.

If an untrained ordinary person releasing pheromones was like a heavy rain, it was an indiscriminate attack, but the effect varied from person to person.

After training, one could condense the torrential rain into two streams, forcefully piercing through the rocks!

However, even with skilful use, the vast difference in levels left Bai Yue feeling nothing.

He clenched his fingers, about to twist them 90 degrees.

“Defeated the enemy on the top lane,” Mu Sihan’s cold voice came through the earpiece.

So as long as Bai Yue could deal with this enemy, they could pass the final round of assessment.

Du Qin looked at everything before him, somewhat exasperated.

He was so close to dealing with that eyesore.

He had clearly warned the students of the Pheromones Research Institute not to get close easily. But that person, having won two rounds, seemed to have a misunderstanding of his own abilities.

He had won so far thanks to his command, yet he couldn’t see reality at all. He was easily captured by Bai Yue.

Originally, Du Qin didn’t want to get involved with this person. Besides being skilled in using pheromones, he was completely useless.

But now victory was within reach; as long as they defeated Bai Yue, they would win, so he had no choice but to intervene.

Currently, the blue team had three members remaining. Bai Yue was here, another was in the top lane, and the whereabouts of the last one were unknown.

He was guarding the crystal to prevent any traps. He thought that with Bai Yue’s skills, two people could easily take him down.

However, the reality was quite different.

The current Bai Yue was almost completely different from the one he had seen at Luohua Academy.

Although his appearance hadn’t changed much, his temperament was worlds apart.

After controlling the other team member, he didn’t hesitate to take him down.

Du Qin pulled out the pistol from his waist.

Originally, he didn’t want to use this weapon in the preliminary assessment. It was a military supply he exchanged for with military merits, and it only had 5 bullets.

Even if he were to use it, he should wait until the final assessment.

But now, he had no choice but to use this trump card.

Suddenly, a scream came through the earpiece. It seemed that the top laner had been killed.

But Du Qin had no time to care. Now, all his attention was focused on Bai Yue.

Even if it was just a fake, he had to take him down with his own hands.

Gun barrel pointed.

At that moment, the other person seemed to sense something and looked up.

When Du Qin met the man’s light gray eyes, he felt as if his entire body was being seen through.

He’d been discovered; the man would probably dodge.

Although filled with doubt, the die was cast. Du Qin pulled the trigger.

“Bang!”

The bullet tore through the air, flying out and piercing the enemy’s temple.

The enemy stiffened and fell to the side.

Du Qin slowly lowered his pistol.

Now, the enemy’s numbers were reduced to less than half. They had won.

He had finally defeated Bai Yue.

A smile involuntarily crept onto Du Qin’s face.

“Wait, Li Hao is dead too!”

Li Hao was from the Pheromones Research Institute. The last remaining team member checked his breathing and immediately came to this conclusion.

Hearing this, Du Qin’s smile vanished.

Bai Yue had clearly noticed his actions but deliberately didn’t dodge, just to kill this man?

So what did this mean? Had he killed Bai Yue first? Did Bai Yue kill Li Hao first?

This time, the mechanical female voice didn’t appear.

Du Qin stepped forward, wanting to investigate. However, he had only gone halfway when the surrounding scenery darkened.

Whether it was the dense forest, the soft soil, or his teammates not far ahead, everything merged into darkness.

Visibility suddenly dimmed.

After a while, the lights slowly came on. Bai Yue found himself back inside the cylinder.

A circle of cold walls surrounded him, and pale lights shone overhead. Beside him stood his four teammates.

They all seemed to have just returned, looking at each other blankly.

“I lost consciousness.” The bearded man scratched the back of his head. “What happened next? Did we win?”

However, no one could answer his question.

Cao Xun’s face was somewhat grim.

In the last second before returning, he heard gunshots. No one in his team had such a weapon, so it was an attack from the enemy?

To prepare for the assessment, he had also bought a knife as a self-defense weapon. But firearms were high-grade items and could only be exchanged for military merits. His accumulated military merits were far from enough.

Mu Sihan looked towards the hatch: “Someone’s here.”

Hearing this, everyone looked over at the same time.

Sure enough, a moment later the hatch opened to both sides. Standing outside were members of the disciplinary team.

The man had his hands behind his back, expressionless: “The preliminary selection assessment is over. Please follow me.”
