“Thank you, Your Highness.” Chen Buyu bowed in thanks.

As he led Wei Ling out, the two bumped into a kind-looking old man at the door.

The man was dressed as a servant in blue robes, carrying a square brocade box in his arms. Upon seeing them, he repeatedly bowed respectfully.

Chen Buyu and Wei Ling did not know who the man was and dared not accept his courtesy, so they hurriedly avoided him and followed the guards out.

“Your Highness, the steward of the Liang Wang residence is here again.”

The servant hurried in to report, only to be glared at by Mu Feng, who was sitting to the side playing with his birds. “Didn’t you see my elder brother is discussing the disaster relief supplies with Lord Lu? Who dares to try and see my elder brother? Is he too busy to come over?”

The servant shrank back. “I’ll go and tell him right away…”

“Never mind, let him in to talk.”

The steward of the Liang Wang residence was extremely polite to everyone, bowing repeatedly to the servant, and stepped into the room with a smile, speaking loudly, “Liang Quan greets Your Highness.”

From the first day he arrived in Weizhou City, the Liang Wang residence had been sending people to deliver gifts and inquire about his well-being, inviting him to their residence for a gathering.

However, who didn’t know that Liang Wang was disliked by the current emperor, and what powerful family would want to get close to the Liang Wang residence?

Speaking of which, Liang Wang was the current emperor’s uncle.

Years ago, however, he was sent to Weizhou because of a power struggle.

Mu Zhao only wanted to complete his mission and didn’t want to cause trouble, but the Liang Wang Mansion kept sending people to bother him, and he didn’t know what their intentions were.

Mu Zhao looked at Liang Quan with a deep gaze, “How is Liang Wang’s health?”

“Thanks to the young master for asking, the old prince is in very good health.” The steward of the Liang Wang Mansion smiled with a simple and honest look, bowing respectfully. “My old prince was overjoyed to learn that the young master was coming to Weizhou on business and has been wanting to invite the young master to the mansion for a gathering, but unfortunately, the young master is extremely busy with official duties.”

“Knowing that my elder brother is busy with official duties, then don’t bother him. Your old prince is in good health, but my elder brother is forcing himself to handle various matters despite his illness. He’s very busy, how can he have time to see you and him every now and then?” Mu Feng said sarcastically.

“Xiao Feng.” Mu Zhao scolded in a low voice, “Don’t be rude.”

Mu Feng pouted, hugged the birdcage and turned his head away.

“Yes, yes, young master is right.” Liang Quan smiled kindly. “I didn’t want to bother the young master, and my old master also said that if the young master is busy with official duties, don’t force him to come.”

*You think you can force him?* Mu Feng wanted to turn around and retort, but glancing at his silent elder brother, he reluctantly held back.

“Even if I can’t invite the young master, the gift must still be sent.” Liang Quan held up the brocade box he was carrying.

At Mu Zhao’s signal, Chang Qing went over and took the gift box.

Liang Quan immediately grinned from ear to ear.

“Knowing the young master is busy, the incense in this box will help you achieve twice the results with half the effort. If you feel tired, light this incense and wait a moment; it will surely refresh you.”

“Your old master has gone to great lengths.” The young master smiled faintly.

His silver-white hair, like snow, accentuated his jade-carved face, making him extremely handsome and elegant.

Liang Quan’s heart stirred slightly, and he secretly thought it was a pity.

Such a handsome and unparalleled young master, yet at such a young age, he had contracted a chronic illness and was nearing the end of his life.

“Our Liang Wang residence has a physician with exceptional medical skills. Over the years, he has greatly improved the old prince’s health. If the young master feels it is appropriate, we can have the physician examine you and take your pulse.”

“No need for that,” the young master Mu declined calmly. “I know my own body; this is not an illness that ordinary doctors can treat.”

“Ah, in that case, I have indeed heard that the Xuanping Marquis’s residence has been inquiring about the whereabouts of the Heavenly Sound Master of the Xuanyin Sect for the past few years.” Liang Quan smiled honestly. “Our residence will certainly help the young master inquire as well.”

Mu Zhao remained noncommittal.

He didn’t want to discuss the elusive Heavenly Sound Master any further.

“Our old prince said that the young master is a rare talent in this era, and he should take good care of his health.”

“Mu Zhao thanks the old prince for his concern. If there’s nothing else, steward, please leave.”

“Yes, yes, then I’ll take my leave.”

After Liang Quan left, Mu Feng ran to his elder brother’s side and snorted at the door, “They’re always coming to see you, brother. Are they trying to win over our Xuanping Marquis’s mansion? Brother, you can’t fall for their tricks. I want to see what they’re bringing.”

Mu Zhao grabbed his younger brother’s restless hand and slapped it down, “Alright, enough with your childish talk. Go out and play. Your brother Lu and I have something to discuss.”

As Mu Feng was being chased away by his elder brother, his eyes kept glancing at the brocade box, and he kept saying, “Brother, don’t use that incense indiscriminately. We don’t know what it is, and I wonder if there’s a trap in it!”

“Young Master, the Heir Apparent knows! Someone will check carefully later.” Chang Qing said helplessly, pulling Mu Feng outside.

Mu Feng hurriedly said, “Hey, bring that birdcage out for me! Big Brother, why don’t you take a nap this afternoon? If you keep disobeying, I’ll write to Mother to complain.”

Lu Qian couldn’t help but chuckle, turning to look at Mu Zhao, “The moment you entered the city, the Liang Wang Mansion started watching you.”

Mu Zhao’s voice was indifferent, “Ignore them, let’s just do our jobs.”

Chang Qing led a young physician in, not interrupting the two of them, but simply moved the brocade box to a small table to examine it.

Mu Zhao casually glanced at it.

Seeing the brocade box open, revealing rows of incense sticks as thick as a little finger inside. As soon as the box was opened, a pleasant fragrance could be smelled, even Lu Qian couldn’t help but turn her head to look.

Physician Fang Mingli was one of the physicians of the Xuanping Marquis’s Mansion, and had been by the Heir Apparent’s side for the past few years, providing medical consultations and medicine.

Even he couldn’t help but take a deep sniff of the delicate fragrance, picking up one of the sticks to examine it closely. “It looks like ordinary incense, but it smells quite unusual.”

Fang Mingli turned to the Crown Prince, his face serious. “This subordinate suggests that Your Highness should not use it.”

The Crown Prince had always been averse to such things.

A former soldier, he was extremely strict in his military discipline and loathed the appearance of such flashy items in the army, which he believed corrupted their minds and disrupted morale.

He himself was also reluctant to use it, and had Fang Mingli examine it just to see if there was anything fishy about the incense.

Hearing Fang Mingli’s words, he nodded casually and had the incense thrown into the storeroom.

Lu Qian looked puzzled. “Did Liang Wang send these incense sticks just to make the young master’s business run more smoothly? If so, it would be more practical and beneficial to send him a hundred bushels of rice.”

“Or are the incense sticks themselves worth more than a hundred bushels of rice?”

Mu Zhao frowned slightly and beckoned Chang Qing. “Have Chang Zhi arrange for someone to secretly investigate the origin of these incense sticks.”

Lu Qian took the remaining account books from his hand and smiled faintly. “Huaizhi, you rest this afternoon. I’ll look after these. Don’t worry about them.”
