Xie Changyi was the third most powerful superhuman after Zhang Zhongmin and Qin Long, so after he was removed from the team, it was impossible to convince anyone to take his place.

After discussing it, Liu Guo’an and Lu Xun decided that Lu Xun would step down as squad leader and become the team’s captain.

At this point, Lu Xun was the most suitable candidate.

“Boss, you’re wrong. If what that person in the white coat said is true, then she should be called a female corpse, not a woman,” Xiang Jiuming said with a grin.

Xie Changyi looked at Xiang Jiuming: “Alright, stop fooling around. Go back and rest. Tomorrow, we’ll meet this Fu Ke. If she really is a zombie, things will be much easier.”

Xie Changyi, Deng Yunfei, Xiang Jiuming, and Mao Xinhua shared a dormitory. The other two seemed to follow Xie Changyi’s lead.

The former captain was now their undisputed leader. Moreover, everyone in this dormitory was ambitious and wanted to find an opportunity to bring down Liu Guo’an and replace him with Xie Changyi.

Zhang Zhongmin left, and Fu Ke returned. This originally harmonious base gradually began to experience various disharmonies, and Fu Ke, who was not going to hide her identity, was bound to stir up a storm in the base.

The next day, before dawn, Fu Ke opened her eyes.

Her blood-red eyes were very clear in the dim light. She pushed open the window, squinted at the outside, and thought of what Qiu Yi had said.

Fu Ke’s mental power could now cover the entire D City and surrounding cities because she deliberately used her mental power to look down on this vast land, and many dense images were all absorbed into her mind.

This was the first time she had used her mental power in this way, and she felt uncomfortable and her head was a little sore.

Fu Ke frowned. There was a mental pull in the small villa in the suburbs. It was the zombie she had left to guard the villa. Fu Ke hadn’t fed it for a long time, but it had stayed in the villa and hadn’t gone out.

No, it should have gone out, but returned to the villa immediately after finding food, without any delay.

Perhaps influenced by the trace of spiritual energy Fu Ke left on it, this zombie didn’t hunt humans, but instead took the crystal core from the zombie’s head.

If this zombie disappeared, Fu Ke could find it anywhere, provided it wasn’t dead.

“It seems I should leave my spiritual energy on them from now on.” Fu Ke endured the throbbing pain in her head and searched carefully.

Finally, after processing a dense array of images and sounds, Fu Ke found Lin Yiyi in a corner outside D City. Her face was deathly pale, and her bloodshot eyes held a violent aura.

Clearly, she had eaten someone.

Lin Yiyi was kind-hearted, but not a blind saint. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have protected so many children, and she wouldn’t have thought Fu Ke was a good person when he asked for a crystal core before helping her during the rain.

But, if she knew she had eaten someone, she would probably be very upset.

Within the range of Fu Ke’s mental power, she easily ordered Lin Yiyi to travel alone to D City. However, fearing she might be killed along the way, she kept a portion of her mental power focused on her.

Finding Lin Yiyi alive was obviously a relief. Fu Ke had a good impression of her; she didn’t annoy him.

Stretching, she was happiest about being able to eat human food. She wanted to eat everything she’d never tasted before!

Getting out of bed, Fu Ke opened the door and went out.

The moment she opened the door, Lan Zhi opened his eyes and looked at her, making a hoarse sound.

“Don’t make a sound, let them sleep a little longer,” Fu Ke said, looking at Qiu Yi and Ya Ya.

Ya Ya had clearly suffered a lot before meeting her; otherwise, how could such a young child be so well-behaved? As for Qiu Yi, the death of 707 and the matter of Lin Yiyi were heavy burdens on his heart.

Even though he understood it was irreversible, he was still a child, and his ability to accept things wasn’t as strong as an adult’s.

He seemed to have accepted the reality, but in reality… all Fu Ke could do now was find Lin Yiyi and help her level up so she could regain her memories. After all, she had promised 70 to take good care of Qiu Yi.

707 had also helped her a lot, and Fu Ke wasn’t an ungrateful person.

Lan Zhi nodded, his bloodshot eyes fixed on Fu Ke.

Seeing Fu Ke go downstairs, Lan Zhi followed. After going downstairs, he made a hoarse sound, but quieter than usual.

Clearly, he had heard Fu Ke’s words and didn’t want to wake the two children upstairs.

“Why can I eat human food?” Fu Ke looked at Lan Zhi. Lan Zhi wasn’t the naive novice from her previous life, so he knew he couldn’t eat it just from the unpleasant smell, instead of curiously trying it like a novice.

When she came back yesterday, Lan Zhi saw Fu Ke eating hot pot, and he felt very strange about it. There was no time to ask last night, but seeing Fu Ke get up, he wanted to ask.

Lan Zhi nodded stiffly, the movement not smooth.

“I don’t know either,” Fu Ke shrugged and said, “I couldn’t eat before, but yesterday I was getting hungrier watching them eat, so I took a bite, and who knew it felt different than before, I could taste the food.”

As she spoke, Fu Ke also felt very strange.

Because now, apart from her blood-red eyes, there was no other part of her that was the same as a zombie. After all, she had no problem eating now.

If she wanted to say that she was human, unless her blood and skin tissue were tested, no one would be able to find out her true identity.

Lan Zhi stood to the side, watching Fu Ke humming an off-key song as she prepared breakfast.

Fu Ke made rice noodle rolls[1] according to the recipe, but after arranging five portions of rice noodle rolls, she paused.

Qiu Yi, Ya Ya, her, and the skinny guy. There were clearly four people… but she subconsciously included Brother Long as well.

Fu Ke divided the rice noodle rolls into four plates, setting aside the extra plate.

Lan Zhi, who had been watching Fu Ke the whole time, glanced at the empty plate, his bloodshot eyes flickering slightly.

“Eat more crystal cores to heal your voice as soon as possible, then you’ll be able to speak again.” Fu Ke placed the rice noodle rolls on the table outside, glancing at Lan Zhi, who had been following her like a long tail.

“Heh heh.”

Fu Ke shrugged, glancing at Lan Zhi, and went upstairs to call the two children to eat.

It was already light when Qiu Yi and Ya Ya came downstairs. Then Skinny also arrived.

Looking at the rice noodle rolls on the table, translucent and filled with various colorful fillings, they looked especially appealing: “Xiao Bai, did you make this?”

Yesterday was hot pot; anyone who could cook could make hot pot, and with hot pot ingredients, it was a simple matter.

Although Fu Ke had told him she opened a restaurant, the skinny man didn’t take it seriously at all; he still preferred to think of Fu Ke as the Xiao Bai from before.

“Hmm, give it a try.” Fu Ke also sat down and picked up her chopsticks to eat.

Lan Zhi watched Fu Ke eat, feeling somewhat envious. But despite his envy, he still didn’t dare to eat. He munched on a crystal core while watching Fu Ke and the others eat.

“Sister, it’s delicious!” Ya Ya picked up a piece of rice noodle roll, dipped it in the sauce, and took a small bite, her eyes crinkling with happiness as she ate.

“If it’s good, eat more,” Fu Ke said with a smile. After spending some time with Ya Ya, Fu Ke knew exactly how much she needed for three meals a day. The rice noodle roll in Ya Ya’s bowl was enough to fill her up without making her feel stuffed.

Qiu Yi ate his rice noodle roll while looking at Fu Ke, his expression hesitant. Fu Ke knew what he wanted to say; he was still thinking about Lin Yiyi.

“Don’t worry, I’ve found her. She’ll be here soon.” Fu Ke rubbed his head. “Eat your food properly.”

Hearing this, Qiu Yi immediately smiled brightly and nodded vigorously. “Yes! Thank you, Sister Fu!”

Skinny sitting opposite Qiu Yi said sarcastically, “Oh, I told you not to call me ‘Master’ before, but you kept calling me ‘Master, Master’ all the time. Why aren’t you calling me that now?”

Qiu Yi glanced at the skinny guy and grinned. “Didn’t you say you weren’t my Master?”

“…” The skinny guy suddenly felt that the rice noodle roll was a bit dry.

After breakfast, Liu Guo’an and Lu Xun left the base together. On the way, he briefly told Lu Xun about Fu Ke, but Lu Xun didn’t believe him.

Zombies were all a bunch of mindless creatures. How could Fu Ke be a zombie? Even if zombies could evolve, they hadn’t found any zombies that were like humans yet.

Moreover, they had known Fu Ke since the early days of the apocalypse. How could she be a zombie?

Not to mention Lu Xun, even Liu Guo’an didn’t believe it. Regardless of whether Fu Ke was a zombie or not, they all had to go and discuss it with him, hoping that the agreement between Zhang Zhongmin and her was still valid.

Actually, Liu Guo’an should have come with Qin Long, but Qin Long seemed a bit off, so Liu Guo’an told Qin Long to rest and came with Lu Xun instead.

When they arrived at the Exclusive Restaurant, before Fu Ke could even make a move, Qiu Yi deftly stacked several plates and carried them inside.

“I want to help too! I want to help too!” Ya Ya followed Qiu Yi into the kitchen like a little shadow. After Fu Ke prepared water for them, she let them do their thing, not caring if the plates broke.

“Squad Leader Zhang?” Skinny sitting in the Exclusive Restaurant noticed Liu Guo’an immediately.

Liu Guo’an’s gaze, however, bypassed the skinny guy and landed on Lan Zhi.

Skinny attacked Lan Zhi the first time he saw him. Qin Long also attacked Lan Zhi the first time he saw him. Now, seeing Liu Guo’an’s gaze, Lan Zhi’s blood-red pupils were extremely wary.

“Roar—” Startled, he couldn’t help but roar.

Liu Guo’an drew his long sword from behind him, staring at Lan Zhi, showing no fear even without superpowers.

Lu Xun thoughtfully watched the skinny man sitting there leisurely, seemingly watching a good show, his eyes flashing, but he showed no intention of attacking Lan Zhi.

“Fu Ke, how come there are zombies here?” Although Liu Guo’an had heard that Fu Ke had zombies, he hadn’t really believed it. He hadn’t expected it to actually be true!

So, Fu Ke being a zombie, was also  very likely true?

Fu Ke came out after filling the water tank: “Squad Leader Liu, long time no see.”

Liu Guo’an’s eyes widened in shock, looking at Fu Ke’s blood-red eyes: “Indeed, long time no see. Fu Ke, can you explain why your eyes are red? And why are you with zombies?”

His serious and cautious expression bore a resemblance to Zhang Zhongmin.

“I’m bringing my kind, is there a problem?” Fu Ke smiled adorably, her eyes crinkling into deep dimples. Just like before, seemingly unchanged.

But Liu Guo’an felt a chill run down his spine. Fu Ke had truly become a zombie, and a zombie capable of thought and speech at that!

“What do you want here?” Liu Guo’an dared not think about Fu Ke’s agreement with Zhang Zhongmin anymore; his mind was now filled with the thought that Fu Ke was a zombie!

Fu Ke crossed her arms and looked at Liu Guo’an: “What can I do? Let Zhang Zhongmin say what he wants.”

“The squad leader left a long time ago; he went back to D City. I’m in charge of this place now. Fu Ke, considering your past contributions to the base, you can leave.” Liu Guo’an said coldly, “And I’ll let you go this time. If you do anything heinous, our D City base, no matter the difficulties, will eliminate you.”

His expression changed instantly, but Fu Ke noticed: “Zhang Zhongmin left?”

This was troublesome.

Fu Ke hadn’t expected Zhang Zhongmin to leave the D City base. It was over. Zhang Zhongmin’s departure meant the chances of peaceful coexistence with this base were extremely low.

“Fine, I’ll leave. But not now. I’m waiting here for someone. When he arrives, we’ll leave immediately.” Fu Ke wasn’t angry at Liu Guo’an’s words.

After all, zombies and humans were natural enemies, and she could understand Liu Guo’an’s reaction. But it was precisely because she cared about Qin Long that she couldn’t understand his reaction.

“I hope you can leave here immediately.” Liu Guo’an looked at Fu Ke, his grip on the sword tightening.

Fu Ke sat in her chair, propping her head up, and said to the skinny man, “Skinny, what do we do? Someone’s trying to kick us out.”
