After he finished speaking, Sheng Ziyou was slightly taken aback.

Twice……

It had indeed happened twice, once with Feng Yuanxuan and once with Ji Ran.

Feng Yuanxuan’s introduction to the company that time was somewhat acceptable, and the contract went through the proper channels, so it couldn’t really be considered a favor. But this time, Ji Ran… truly owed Lu Jiangyuan a favor.

Before he arrived, Sheng Ziyou realized that she owed him a favor.

However, hearing these words coming from this person’s mouth still felt a little awkward to her…

For another man…

Something about this didn’t sound quite right…

“Thank you…” After a long while, Sheng Ziyou finally managed to utter these two words dryly.

She owed this favor and couldn’t think of a way to repay it in the short term.

She suddenly missed the Lu Jiangyuan from the other world. If it were him, she wouldn’t need to be so polite, wouldn’t need to feel so guilty, and wouldn’t feel indebted to him…

Lu Jiangyuan looked at her without saying a word.

Sheng Ziyou took a deep breath, calming her somewhat chaotic mind, and her thoughts gradually became clear.

Then she calmly said, “Mr. Lu, I owe you a favor this time, and I will repay it when I have the chance.”

Lu Jiangyuan closed his eyes slightly; he disliked Sheng Ziyou saying such things.

The implication was almost explicitly that he was an outsider.

But what could be done? To Sheng Ziyou, he was indeed an outsider now.

Lu Jiangyuan opened his mouth, but in the end only said, “Just call me by my name…”

Sheng Ziyou glanced at him, nodded, and did not object.

“I…” He opened his mouth again, wanting to say something caring and considerate.

But just then, Sheng Ziyou’s phone rang.

She answered, “Hello, what’s up?”

After hearing something said on the other end of the phone, Sheng Ziyou smiled, as if relieved: “That’s great, is Ji Ran awake yet?”

As she listened to the conversation on the other end of the phone, her expression relaxed even more.

“Don’t tell him about his grandmother yet. Wait until he’s recovered a bit before telling him,” Sheng Ziyou continued.

Her attention was now focused on the phone call. It was clear that Ji Ran was alright, so she was very happy. She was in much better spirits than before, and her tone was more relaxed.

Lu Jiangyuan’s breath hitched, and his heart felt as if it had been ripped out, the pain unbearable.

Does she care about Ji Ran that much?

In both worlds, Ji Ran was always the man who posed the greatest threat to him.

Even though he looks so weak, even though I could easily crush him.

But he was the kind of man Sheng Ziyou liked, and just for that reason alone, Lu Jiangyuan lost miserably.

He had once carefully considered whether he possessed anything that satisfied Sheng Ziyou’s aesthetic sense, and the final conclusion was… nothing.

Not a single one.

But Ji Ran was different; he was born almost exactly according to Sheng Ziyou’s aesthetic standards.

In the other world, Ji Ran and Sheng Ziyou had little interaction and almost no connection. Apart from the occasional contact like ordinary friends, they had no deeper interaction.

But this world was different. Ji Ran in this world was weaker than himself in the other world, but he was more in line with the type of “young and handsome man” that Sheng Ziyou wanted to raise.

Moreover, they had had quite a bit of contact in this world!

Sheng Ziyou cares about him so much… does that mean she likes him?

Thinking of this, Lu Jiangyuan subconsciously raised his hand and covered his chest.

Even though he had a different body, it seemed like he had brought his heart palpitations from the car accident with him.

“Okay, I’ll hang up now.” Sheng Ziyou closed her phone and let out a long sigh.

“You care about him so much…” Lu Jiangyuan’s voice was hoarse and soft, even tinged with sadness.

They both came to the other world, but it didn’t seem to be to bring them together…

Could it be… because of her and Ji Ran?

Sheng Ziyou was taken aback. She turned to look at Lu Jiangyuan and met a pair of eyes filled with grievance and pain.

Even in high heels, she was still not as tall as Lu Jiangyuan, but at this moment, she felt as if he was looking up at her, waiting for her to bow her head.

Sheng Ziyou shook her head to clear her mind.

“His hospitalization this time is related to me, so I hope he’s okay.”

Sheng Ziyou didn’t understand why, when she looked into his eyes, she actually gave a few simple explanations.

Lu Jiangyuan’s eyes lit up slightly. He was usually expressionless, but it was still clear that he was in a better mood now.

Sheng Ziyou lowered her head, looking at her high heels, and remained silent.

There was a minute of silence between them before Lu Jiangyuan spoke: “Are you going to stay here and keep watch?”

“Well, we need to get a result first.” Ji Ran didn’t know about this yet, and if she didn’t stay and keep an eye on things, there was no one to make a decision.

Lu Jiangyuan’s eyes darkened again…

Sure enough, she still cared about him.

Just then, Sheng Ziyou’s phone rang again; it was Yang Yun calling.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

After hearing what was said on the other end of the phone, Sheng Ziyou frowned: “He already knows?! What kind of nanny did Ji Ran hire…”

She originally intended to keep it from Ji Ran, but Ji Ran’s nanny saw the news online, saying that he was alright and had even regained consciousness. So the nanny immediately called the agent again, found Ji Ran, and told him everything about his grandmother.

Ji Ran was coming over now.

“Never mind, let him come if he wants to.” Sheng Ziyou was a little helpless but considering that his only relative was in critical condition, it was understandable that he wanted to come.

After hanging up the phone, Sheng Ziyou sent Yang Yun the address and location.

Then she sighed and looked at the closed operating room door.

I just hope everyone is alright.

“He’s coming over?” Lu Jiangyuan frowned.

Sheng Ziyou nodded, while Lu Jiangyuan remained silent, lost in thought.

“Sit down for a while.” Sheng Ziyou sat down in the chair and patted the seat next to her.

Her movement was casual, but Lu Jiangyuan pursed his lips and sat stiffly beside her.

He stood stiffly, staring straight ahead without moving, his whole body rigid.

Sheng Ziyou closed her eyes slightly and leaned back in her chair to rest. Lu Jiangyuan looked ahead, but his eyes were fixed on Sheng Ziyou out of the corner of his eye.

The two remained in that position for almost half an hour when the elevator beeped and a familiar voice came through.

Sheng Ziyou stood up and looked over. Sure enough, Ji Ran and the others had arrived.

The only people accompanying them were Gu Yuzheng, Yang Yun, and Ji Ran’s agent.
