Hypnotic states could be classified into three levels: mild, moderate, and deep.

When entering a mild hypnotic state, the subject would experience muscle weakness throughout their body, difficulty opening their eyelids, relaxation of mind and body, a feeling of comfort, and a lazy, unwilling-to-move state while lying on the bed.

When entering a moderate hypnotic state, the subject’s perception changed significantly, memory was lost, the body became paralyzed, and pain was no longer felt. Although their consciousness remained conscious, its scope was greatly narrowed, and their cognitive and critical abilities were significantly reduced. Under the hypnotist’s suggestion, they may experience illusions and hallucinations.

When entering a deep hypnotic state, the subject would experience numbness throughout their body, muscle rigidity, inhibition of bodily functions, highly concentrated attention, extremely narrowed consciousness, and almost absolute obedience to the hypnotist’s instructions. They would be completely immersed in a highly subjective personal world and are highly likely to experience hallucinations and changes in age and personality.

Moreover, even after waking up, deeply hypnotized subjects can faithfully carry out posthypnotic suggestions.

What was post-hypnotic suggestion? It means that after waking up, the subject can still remember the instructions given to them by the hypnotist in the dream and strictly follow them in life.

For example, if a patient wants to lose weight, the hypnotist might suggest during hypnosis that they should eat less, otherwise they will feel nauseous. Upon waking, the patient will experience nausea and vomiting if they eat too much, gradually achieving their weight loss goal.

To completely cure Ms. Zhou’s emotional distress, Zhuang Li must put her into a deep hypnotic state and ensure that she continued to be influenced by post-hypnotic suggestions even after waking up.

In this way, the treatment effect could last a lifetime, rather than just a temporary improvement.

Now, Ms. Zhou, who appeared to be sleeping soundly, was actually only in a mild hypnotic state. Waking up from this state would not improve her hysteria at all.

Zhuang Li turned around, raised his index finger, and made a shushing gesture.

Knowing that the prince was right next door, Master Zhou didn’t dare to even breathe. He remained silent, and Madam Zhou and the two maids naturally held their breath as well.

Zhuang Jiuge was very obedient and covered his mouth with his hand without his brother’s permission.

The private room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. The only sound was the dripping of water from the teapot into the copper basin, one drop after another, intermittently, gently tapping on everyone’s eardrums.

Zhuang Li said in a low, slow voice, “Did you hear the sound of water droplets?”

Ms. Zhou’s tightly furrowed brows slowly relaxed, and the monotonous sound made her slightly struggling consciousness drift into a daze.

Zhuang Li continued, “A cave appears before you, and the water droplets are falling from above the cave. Candles are lit on the cave walls, illuminating the path ahead. Before you is a spiraling stone staircase leading downwards, and I want you to go down these staircases.”

Miss Zhou frowned. She resisted the road that seemed to have no end and was afraid that evil spirits might lurk in the darkness.

“Don’t be afraid. Raise your right hand and hold mine. I’ll lead you.” Zhuang Li gave the instruction, then looked at Madam Zhou and mouthed, “Hold her hand.”

He still understood the principle that men and women should not touch each other.

Madam Zhou quickly walked to the chaise lounge, gently took her daughter’s hand, and tears welled up in her eyes again.

Three years ago, this hand was round, fair, smooth and lovely; when adorned with a green bracelet, it looked like a work of art. However, three years later, this hand was rough, thin, and as cold as ice.

What on earth has tormented her daughter to this state? She must find out!

Thinking of this, Madam Zhou tightened her grip on her hand.

The force seemed to greatly soothe Miss Zhou, and the struggle in her eyes subsided, revealing a peaceful expression once again.

Zhuang Li slowly said, “Now, I will walk down with you. Pay attention to counting the steps. When you count to ten, we will reach the end of this road, and I will let go of your hand.”

“When I let go of you, your arms will naturally fall down, which is a sign that you are becoming more and more relaxed.”

“When your hands gently and slowly fall on your legs, you will be in a deeper, more complete state of relaxation.”

Zhuang Li paused for a moment, letting Miss Zhou prepare to walk down, and then began to slowly count: “Okay, let’s take a step together, and breathe deeply as we walk. Exhale with each lift of your leg and inhale with each step. Take a deep breath.”

“Count with me: One, we’ve descended the steps; two, we’re slowly walking down; three, candles will light up ahead of the dark steps to guide our way; four, we’re walking more steadily and deeper into the path; five, we’re halfway down, our bodies are falling, feeling light and airy; six…”

Zhuang Li’s voice remained steady and gentle, neither too fast nor too slow, yet deep and melodious, like a flowing hot spring, quietly enveloping everyone’s eardrums.

Not only did Miss Zhou appear calm and serene, but even Madam Zhou, who was sitting next to the chaise lounge, almost fell asleep with her head propped up on her hand.

The two maids staggered back and forth and fell asleep standing up.

Mr. Zhou rubbed his eyes repeatedly, then gulped down tea.

Zhuang Jiuge rested his head on his knees and quietly fell asleep.

The combination of Zhuang Li’s deep, slow voice and the monotonous sound of dripping water produced a hypnotic effect even stronger than that of a drug.

Meanwhile, Qi Wang, standing at the door, began to nod his head, swaying slightly, yet stubbornly keeping his eyelids open. He longed to sleep, but couldn’t suppress his curiosity, wanting to continue listening to the young master’s entire ghost-catching process.

Strangely enough, in the past, as soon as he could fall asleep, he would immediately put down what he was doing and find a safe place to sleep. But now, he was reluctant to fall into an unconscious state, simply because then he would no longer be able to hear the little master’s whispers.

Several guards wanted to help the prince lie down, but dared not interrupt his growing sleepiness, so they could only stand there stiffly.

In the next private room, Zhuang Li finally counted to ten, then emphasized, “Now, we’ve reached the end. A door appears before us. I want you to let go of my hand and push this door open. Remember, when your hand gently falls onto your leg, you will enter a state of complete relaxation, and you will enter your past through this door.”

Following his guidance, Mrs. Zhou reluctantly let go of her daughter’s hand.

Miss Zhou’s hand slowly returned to her lap, and then her expression became completely holy and pure, like a carefree angel flying in a hall filled with ethereal music.

This strange phenomenon occurred in everyone who entered a deep hypnotic state.

No matter how vulgar and cruel a person may be in reality, once he entered deep hypnosis, the filth in his soul would be cleansed, and he would reveal a nobility and elegance that was unimaginable to ordinary people.

The idea that every person was born noble may originate from this.

Zhuang Li waited a few seconds to give Miss Zhou time to open the door, then continued to guide her: “Now, you have returned to the time before everything happened, when you were very happy and very relaxed.”

“The sun in the sky is warm, the flowers on the ground are fragrant, and your heart is open and free. Even a gentle breeze that lifts a strand of your hair can make you laugh out loud. I want you to remember this feeling.”

He waited a few seconds, allowing Ms. Zhou to remember this moment of happiness.

As expected, Miss Zhou curled her lips into a smile, like an innocent child.

Having not seen her daughter smile for a long time, Mrs. Zhou let out a sob that was half joyful and half sorrowful. She then clenched her fist tightly, afraid of waking her daughter from her precious dream.

Even the hard-hearted Mr. Zhou had tears in his eyes, silently turning his head away to wipe the corners of his eyes.

In the next private room, Qi Wang had already lay back on the soft couch and was sound asleep, a serene smile on his lips.

Several guards stood like iron towers protecting him, their palms pressing firmly on the hilts of their swords, their faces full of vigilance.

They listened intently to the sounds from next door, utterly impressed by this young man who could control other people’s dreams at will.

Even divine intervention could not surpass this!
