Bai Yue remembered that today was the first day of school for the senior students. He planned to change out of his sports uniform and go to the Comprehensive Military Academy to find someone.
However, as soon as he stepped out of the combat center, he was stunned.
There were people coming and going, like some kind of celebration, with shouts everywhere.
In the past two days, due to the successive start of school, there were more and more students, and it was getting more and more lively. But it was never like today, with people crowding everywhere.
When he came here in the morning, everything was normal.
Mu Sihan was nowhere to be seen. Bai Yue withdrew his gaze and walked towards the dormitory.
The further he walked, the more people there were.
When he passed the central square, he could even see several stages and stalls. Students in uniforms were handing out flyers to passersby.
“Shooting Club is recruiting! No need for military merits, just join and we’ll take you to the shooting range for free! What are you waiting for? Become one of us!”
“Free Fighting Club. No experience required! Experienced members will teach you step-by-step, don’t miss out!”
….
A noisy scene unfolded.
Bai Yue was handed a handful of flyers along the way.
He hadn’t paid much attention to the school forum these past few days due to his busy schedule with classes and training. But a quick glance would have revealed that today was recruitment day for various clubs at the Imperial Military Academy.
To recruit even one more freshman, the upperclassmen were pulling out all the stops.
The Art Club was drawing portraits on the spot; the Drama Club was setting up a stage for a skit performance; the Shooting Club had applied for and received air rifles for passing students to try out.
It was a veritable battle of wits.
Soon, Bai Yue spotted Mu Sihan in the crowd.
He seemed to be being pestered.
“Junior, you absolutely have to join our club!” a beta student exclaimed excitedly. “With you here, our Drama Club will definitely regain its glory and be reborn!”
Mu Sihan ignored him and was about to leave when someone grabbed his wrist: “Junior, think it over. You’re so good-looking, don’t waste your talent.”
Mu Sihan frowned, about to make a move. But someone spoke first: “Sorry, we’ve already joined a club.”
The beta student turned around. When he saw the person’s face, his mouth gaped open.
What a lucky day! Two such good-looking newcomers had arrived in a row?
Bai Yue, seeing that the student seemed to want to say something, interrupted first: “We’re not freshmen.”
Hearing this, the student suddenly realized. There were so many students at the Imperial First Military Academy, and he didn’t know everyone. He just felt it was a real pity that he hadn’t discovered such a promising talent last year.
The drama club members clicked their tongues and left regretfully.
Bai Yue looked at Mu Sihan and smiled: “There’s no need to make a scene; it’ll only escalate things.”
The club members’ target audience was first-year students. If they didn’t want to be stopped, claiming to be upperclassmen was the best way.
Just then, the previously noisy central square suddenly fell silent. The crowd parted like a tide, creating a wide path.
Bai Yue looked up and saw a line of people walking at the end of the road.
Everyone was dressed in uniform, with weapons at their waists. Their arms were covered with identical armbands.
They were exactly the same as the crowd Bai Yue had seen the night before the exam.
“My God, the disciplinary committee…” someone in the crowd exclaimed softly.
The students in that line of people were all very smart and spirited. Even though they were all students of the Imperial First Military Academy, their temperament was completely different from the surrounding crowd.
Their faces were expressionless and very serious. Their eyes were sharp. Just one glance from them was enough to make you feel like you had been stung by bees.
During that time, apart from the sound of their footsteps, the other students did not make a sound. Only after they left did they regain some of their energy.
“My God, I didn’t expect to see them today. Did something happen?”
“Such a strong aura, I didn’t even dare to breathe just now.”
A bewildered freshman asked, “Senior, who are they?”
“The disciplinary committee.” The senior looked on with longing, “The official disciplinary committee of the Imperial First Military Academy.”
Although the main members were students, their status was no lower than that of the school’s management. The requirements for joining the disciplinary squad were stringent; members were the best of the students, thus commanding immense prestige among ordinary students.
The benefits of joining included not only gaining certain power but also military merit rewards. Furthermore, the Imperial Military Headquarters gave disciplinary squad members more attention and support.
If students at the Imperial First Comprehensive Military Academy were already ahead of other military academy students, then joining the disciplinary squad gave them a significant head start.
Joining the disciplinary squad was a good choice for those who wanted to rise to prominence as early as possible.
The student, eager to try, shoved the leaflet back into his hand: “Um, senior, I…”
The senior glanced at him and shook her head: “The selection process isn’t open to just anyone; it requires a recommendation. I think you,” she said sympathetically, “have a slim chance.”
The student was deeply disappointed: “Senior!!!”
In the southwest corner building of the Imperial First Comprehensive Military Academy,
Shang Yufei changed into his uniform. When he saw the Imperial First school emblem on his chest, he touched it with his fingers. He then exerted a little force, as if to tear it off. But then he relaxed his grip, lowered his hand, and walked out expressionlessly.
Students were already waiting outside. Several people wore identical armbands. Upon seeing Shang Yufei, they escorted him like a prisoner to another room.
Shang Yufei pushed open the door and, upon seeing who was standing inside, raised an eyebrow: “You came all this way just to see me get out of prison?”
The room was a conference room. There a long table was set up, with several soft chairs on either side.
A young man in a student uniform stood with his hands behind his back. He had a handsome face and slightly long hair tied back.
He replied, “This isn’t a ‘prison,’ but a place for students who have broken the rules to reflect.”
He paused, then continued, “Besides, I came at the teacher’s request. It’s the first day of school, and I hope I don’t set a bad example for the younger students.”
Shang Yufei scoffed and casually pulled up a chair: “Where are my things?”
Faced with this extremely rude attitude, the young man only managed a restrained frown. He glanced at the students beside him, and someone immediately understood, carrying a box and placing it on the table.
The box contained Shang Yufei’s personal belongings.
He’d been apprehended by this group of disciplinary officers the moment he disembarked from the airship. His phone and wallet had also been confiscated. He’d been locked up for days, only to be released now.
He didn’t care about the other things; he immediately picked up his phone.
Black screen, no response.
It must be out of battery.
Shang Yufei clicked his tongue.
Before being locked up, he’d always handed his phone to his underlings first, then had someone secretly return it to him.
This time, however, he had no time at all; so even his phone had been confiscated. After being out of contact for so many days, he wondered if Bai Yue would be suspicious.
Shang Yufei stood up, stuffed his things into his backpack, and turned to leave.
The young man called out, “Wait.”
Shang Yufei ignored him, opened the door, and strode away.
The young man was speechless. While a student nearby couldn’t help but complain, “Captain, what’s wrong with this guy? He’s completely disrespectful to us, and after so many detentions, he shows no signs of changing. Why hasn’t the school expelled him yet?”
The young man remained silent for a long time before speaking, “It’s not that simple.”
Shang Yufei was talented. In just one year since entering the school, he had risen from A-level to A+, and recently even showed signs of breaking into S-level.
The military academy wouldn’t easily let go of such a talented student.
And whether intentionally or unintentionally, everything Shang Yufei had done so far had just barely crossed the line. Although it was against the rules, it wasn’t unforgivable.
Unless, he could uncover Shang Yufei’s true colors.
He had always suspected that the leader of that group of masked, mischievous students was Shang Yufei. He just hadn’t found any evidence.
If he could prove this, even with his talent, the Imperial Military Academy would probably have to consider the other students’ opinions and expel Shang Yufei.
The young man narrowed his eyes and looked out the window.
The sky was just beginning to brighten, shrouded in the morning mist. A leaf drifted down, swaying gently as it landed on the windowsill.
For soldiers, rules were everything.
Those who break the rules are unfit to be soldiers.
As soon as Shang Yufei stepped out the door, a familiar figure rushed towards him.
“Boss!”
Shang Yufei deftly dodged to the side, easily avoiding the bear hug.
Wu Zihao, though his hug failed, didn’t seem to care and quickly followed.
“You’re finally out. Just missing a tutoring session cost you so many days. That Fu Cheng kid went too far.”
Shang Yufei glanced at him out of the corner of his eye. “They’re following us.”
Wu Zihao snorted, “I said it on purpose for them to hear! Fu Cheng is a complete idiot!”
The building was hidden in the jungle, surrounded by dense woods; students usually wouldn’t venture this way.
As soon as Wu Zihao spoke, the leaves rustled. It sounded like someone was about to burst out but was being held back by their comrades.
Shang Yufei: “Stop talking nonsense, let’s go.”
Wu Zihao nodded and pulled out his military supplies.
“Look, boss, the latest modified item! I spent so many military merits to get it!”
For easy carrying, military supplies could be shrunk, easily fitting into a pocket. When needed, they could be folded and raised.
The latest “modified item” Wu Zihao mentioned was a large sphere. The hatch opened, revealing a space that could accommodate two or three people.
Wu Zihao exclaimed in admiration, “It can reach speeds of 130 km/h, it can go anywhere, from the sky to the ground, it’s capable of anything!”
Shang Yufei asked, “Can it charge?”
Wu Zihao replied, “Huh?”
Wu Zihao looked around the inside of the sphere, “Well, it seems there are no ports.”
Shang Yufei immediately lost interest, “Tsk, useless.”
Wu Zihao: ???
Boss, military supplies aren’t for charging your phone!
A few minutes later, the sphere rose up and flew towards the campus.
Because the Imperial First University campus was so vast, without military supplies for transportation, it would probably take a whole day to walk from the front gate to the back gate.
Therefore, despite the high price, students still tried their best to accumulate military merits to buy them.
Transportation was one aspect, but most importantly— it was a way to show off.
Wu Zihao sat in the driver’s seat, rambling on, “Boss, the disciplinary team pulled this on purpose, it’s definitely intentional. We can’t let them get away with this. The disciplinary team selection is coming up soon, we have to make a scene, so they don’t think we’re easy to bully…”
He talked for a long time, his mouth almost dry, but he didn’t hear a single response. Looking back, he saw his boss with his eyes closed and arms crossed, not listening to him at all.
Wu Zihao: Boss, ahhh!
The cabin quieted down slightly.
Soon, Wu Zihao slowed down and said to the person behind him, “Boss, are you awake? We can’t get through this, let’s walk.”
After being locked up in the solitary confinement cell for so many days, Shang Yufei had long since slept enough, so he was naturally awake.
Hearing this, he looked up ahead.
Ahead was the central square, and there was some kind of event going on, with people packed everywhere.
Wu Zihao smacked his forehead: “There was a club recruitment today, I forgot!”
However, neither of them had joined any clubs, so it was none of their business.
“Alright, let’s go.”
Shang Yufei was too lazy to waste words and touched the inner wall with his palm. The hatch opened automatically, and he jumped down.
Wu Zihao scrambled to catch up: “Boss, wait for me!”
He put away the ball and hurriedly followed.
Shang Yufei wasn’t one to wait for others. Wu Zihao thought he would be left behind, but after chasing for a short while, he saw his boss standing still, as if waiting for him.
He was very touched, but when he caught up, he realized something was wrong. The other guy wasn’t even looking at him but staring straight ahead.
Wu Zihao followed his gaze and saw students coming and going not far away. But even so, two omegas still attracted a lot of attention.
Wu Zihao immediately recognized one of them as the student he had met that night when he stole the exam answers. It seemed that he had passed the exam smoothly and become his junior.
He originally thought that his boss was indifferent to women, but judging from his current reaction, had he finally come to his senses?
He let out a long breath, straightened up, and wanted to put his arm around his boss’s shoulder.
“Boss, did you see that? That gray-haired one is the omega I told you about. Pretty, right? Hey, do you think he’d even talk to me if I went over dressed like this…”
But his elbow met empty air.
He suddenly felt something was wrong, turned his head, and saw his boss glaring at him with an unfriendly expression.
Shang Yufei smiled faintly: “Go ahead and flirt?”
Wu Zihao panicked immediately.
Although he didn’t know what had happened, his long experience told him that his boss was very angry, and the consequences would be serious.
He quickly made a “please” gesture: “Please, please go first!”
Shang Yufei ignored him and walked forward.
Wu Zihao stood there, stunned.
What was going on? This was the first time he had seen his boss so interested in omegas.
Although his boss had a bad reputation in the Imperial University, he was actually quite popular among omegas in private. However, when faced with omegas who confessed their love, his boss invariably made them cry and looked impatient.
This boss was actually actively going to flirt with omegas?
He rubbed his eyes.
Is this some kind of gender reassignment after solitary confinement?
