Lan Zhi glanced at Fu Ke. She possessed an aura that instilled fear in him; her blood-red eyes indicated that she and he were now of the same kind.

Strangely, however, when she smiled, Lan Zhi noticed that her teeth were human-like, unlike his. His teeth had gradually mutated, growing shallow, sharp fangs.

They could easily tear a large chunk of flesh from a human, though he hadn’t tried it himself.

Moreover, her aura was clean, not the aura of a zombie.

Lan Zhi stood up, instinctively standing behind Fu Ke, as if in submission, as if following, not daring to step in front of her.

“Song Fei, move aside.” Lan Sheng and the others hadn’t noticed the commotion on Fu Ke’s side.

Lan Sheng saw Song Fei and the others tightly guarding the power switch, their fists clenched, the veins on the back of their hands bulging. It seemed as if they would immediately attack if they didn’t move aside.

“Lan Sheng, are you crazy?” Song Fei looked at Lan Sheng incredulously. “We’re heartbroken and distressed that Lan Zhi has become a zombie. But no one can change the fact that Lan Zhi has become a zombie!”

Chen Yue glanced at Fu Ke. “Did you hear what this woman said? Lan Sheng, those who are not of our kind are bound to have different hearts. I don’t know why she’s helping us, but I think she must have her reasons. Her motives are definitely not pure.”

“Lan Sheng, now is not the time to act on emotion. Even if you release Lan Zhi, he won’t recognize you. He’s already a zombie, a living dead. You have to accept this fact,” Song Jing said sadly.

“I don’t want to explain too much to you. I believe Fu Ke. Whatever her purpose, if she wanted to harm us, we would have been wiped out long ago,” Lan Sheng glared. “I’ll say it again, get out of the way!”

“What the hell are you yelling about? Lan Sheng, have you been brainwashed by this female zombie? You can’t reason with her!” Lin Lizhong’s tone became impatient. No one would believe that someone who had become a zombie could still maintain their sanity. As for Fu Ke, her seemingly normal appearance made them quite suspicious, yet they still couldn’t believe Lan Zhi was different from the other zombies.

Fu Ke couldn’t help but look at Lan Zhi: “You have a good older brother.”

As she spoke, the power switch suddenly went off.

Fu Ke reached through the gap in the cage and unlocked the iron bolt securing the door.

Opening the door, Fu Ke walked out with a smile: “This thing can’t hold me.”

Behind her, Lan Zhi followed Fu Ke, slowly walking out step by step. His gait wasn’t as relaxed and simple as Fu Ke’s; it was more like that of the other zombies.

The moment Fu Ke stepped out, Song Fei and the others, weapons in hand, warily watched her. They had taken quite a few guns from the area.

“Lan Zhi.” Lan Sheng saw Fu Ke and the others come out and immediately breathed a sigh of relief. His eyes reddened when he saw Lan Zhi, and he was about to come over, but Song Fei grabbed him tightly.

“Lan Sheng! Calm down!”

They felt that Lan Sheng was affected by Fu Ke or by the fact that Lan Zhi had become a zombie. So, they tacitly shielded Lan Sheng behind them.

“I can easily wipe out this entire abandoned factory. Do you think what you have will be of any use to me?”

Fu Ke looked at their wary and fearful expressions with amusement, especially Wei Yu, whose hand trembled as he held the gun. Fu Ke wondered if he would actually pull the trigger and injure himself.

Lan Zhi looked at his companions standing opposite him, a fleeting sadness in his eyes, and smiled bitterly. They looked like ghosts, worse off dead.

“Stop trying to seduce us,” Song Fei said fiercely. “Tell me, what are you trying to do by deliberately approaching us and pretending to help us?”

“What a nuisance,” Fu Ke said impatiently.

She blinked, her blood-red eyes seeming to flow with something beautiful, and the group opposite Fu Ke froze, their gazes uncontrollably fixed on Fu Ke’s eyes.

Lan Sheng struggled again and easily emerged from the crowd. He suddenly felt something was wrong, turned around, and was shocked to see a group of people frozen in place.

A pang of anxiety shot through him: “Fu Ke…they…”

“They’re alright. I just wove them a beautiful dream; it won’t hurt them.” Fu Ke smiled. “Go find some rope and tie them up first. They’re really in the way. I don’t like wasting my breath explaining.”

Lan Sheng hesitated, but then looked at Lan Zhi. He immediately went to find some rope and tied everyone up tightly.

Now, no one stopped him. After tying up the last person, Lan Sheng stood up, looking at Lan Zhi with a complicated expression.

“Lan Zhi, I’m sorry. It’s my fault for not protecting you.” His voice choked with emotion. Seeing the pain in Lan Zhi’s eyes, Lan Sheng wished he could take his place.

He took a step forward to protect Lan Zhi, but Fu Ke stopped him.

Lan Sheng looked at Fu Ke, confused.

“These people were experimenting on him, but they haven’t given him anything to eat. In other words, he’s starving. Even if he’s trying his best to control himself, if you just walk right up to him like this, he might just bite you.”

Fu Ke glanced at Lan Zhi, his throat making a gurgling sound. If Lan Zhi hadn’t been restraining himself, he would have pounced on him already.

For the hungry Lan Zhi, these people would be a delicious feast.

What Fu Ke didn’t know was that for Lan Zhi, Fu Ke’s scent was more attractive, but the terrifying aura made him hesitate.

Lan Sheng was stunned for a moment before hurriedly asking, “Then, what does Lan Zhi want to eat now? I’ll go find him something to eat; he’s been hungry for so long.”

“…” Shouldn’t his focus be on the possibility that Lan Zhi might eat him? Why was he only noticing that Lan Zhi had been hungry for so long?

Fu Ke’s lips curled slightly: “He eats human flesh. Since these people want to kill Lan Zhi, you can give them to Lan Zhi as his food.”

“After all, zombies become increasingly sluggish and eventually die from hunger.”

“Zombies can starve to death?” Lan Sheng asked in shock, but after glancing at Song Jing, Song Fei, and the others he had tied up, he refused without hesitation: “They are Lan Zhi’s and my partners. I won’t let Lan Zhi eat them.”

“Wasn’t there a lab that held a lot of people? You can grab one of them. Judging from Lan Zhi’s appearance, he’s almost starving.” Fu Ke pointed to the door.

Lan Sheng froze.

Lan Zhi, who was originally suffering from intense hunger, was suddenly drawn to Fu Ke’s words. His eyes were strange, and he made a hoarse, unpleasant sound.

Why did he feel like Fu Ke was teasing his brother?

“No, can’t he not eat people?” Lan Sheng couldn’t bring himself to grab people to feed his younger brother. He wasn’t a saint, nor was he a villain.

But his younger brother had turned into a zombie, and he couldn’t bring himself to kill him. Yet, asking him to capture humans to feed his brother was also something Lan Sheng couldn’t do.

“Sure, then let Lan Zhi starve to death,” Fu Ke blinked innocently.

Lan Sheng stared at Fu Ke in shock. He pursed his lips, taking a while to calm himself down. He drew his dagger and was about to slash his arm.

“Roar—” Lan Zhi saw Lan Sheng’s action and roared excitedly, trying to stop him. But he was afraid that her fingernails would cut Lan Sheng’s skin, and he would also be infected with the virus and turn into a zombie.

Fu Ke reached out and caught the dagger. The blade cut her wound, but her hand was completely unharmed.

“What are you doing?” Fu Ke asked, his eyes flashing slightly.

“I… if Lan Zhi really wants to eat meat, I’ll use my own flesh to feed him,” Lan Sheng said seriously.

“…” Fu Ke had thought Lan Sheng was very smart before, but now he thought he was stupid. He reached out and took Lan Sheng’s dagger.

He looked at it; the dagger wasn’t long, but it was very sharp, and the blade gleamed coldly. It was a very good dagger.

After watching for a while, Fu Ke tossed the dagger to Lan Sheng: “There are a lot of zombies outside. Dig out the crystal cores from their heads and feed them to them.”

Lan Sheng caught the dagger but was a little confused.

“You mean, Lan Zhi can not eat human flesh, but eat the crystal cores from zombie heads?” Lan Sheng looked at Fu Ke, seemingly doubting the truth of her words.

“Otherwise, do you think I eat human flesh every day?” She had run out of crystal cores in her space, and Fu Ke was also very hungry. But she was not affected by the human aura.

“…” Lan Sheng hadn’t thought about what Fu Ke ate before.

“Does this mean Lan Zhi can’t eat human food anymore?” Thinking back to when he tried to give Fu Ke cookies, she refused to eat them. He thought Fu Ke was embarrassed.

Now, could it be that she couldn’t eat zombies?

“Ah, right, he can’t eat them.” Fu Ke nodded.

Lan Sheng gripped his dagger and turned to walk outside.

Fu Ke looked at Lan Zhi: “Are you alright staying here alone? You won’t be unable to resist eating all these people, will you?”

Clearly, Fu Ke was about to leave.

Hearing Fu Ke’s words, Lan Zhi wanted to speak but couldn’t, only letting out a zombie-like howl.

However, Fu Ke understood what Lan Zhi was saying. She nodded: “Good, I’ll go out and check. You stay here obediently and don’t wander off.”

Lan Zhi: “…”

His blood-red eyes looked at Fu Ke strangely.

These were his brothers who had gone through thick and thin with him for so long; even if he was hungry, he wouldn’t harm his brothers, okay?

As Fu Ke left, Lan Zhi took a step, wanting to follow. But Fu Ke glanced back at him, and Lan Zhi remembered that Fu Ke had told him to stay.

Suddenly, he had a feeling of being abandoned…

Lan Zhi stood silently in place, feeling that this feeling was very strange. They had only met for the first time today…

After Fu Ke left, she closed the door, her red light flickering slightly. The group of people inside, who were dreaming, slowly woke up.

A slight smile played on her lips. Didn’t she disbelieve that Lan Zhi was conscious and hadn’t forgotten his human memories?

Then she’d have some quality time alone with Lan Zhi.

Fu Ke closed the door, clapped her hands, and turned to leave. Having observed the area with her mental power, she naturally knew where the researchers were tied up.

Lan Zhi was hungry, truly hungry.

He made constant hoarse sounds, his blood-red eyes flickering, yet he stood motionless, despite his best efforts to control himself. His gaze, however, involuntarily lingered on the nine people tied up in the laboratory.

The sweet aroma wafted over, and Lan Zhi was unaware that suspicious liquid was dripping from the corner of his mouth, his eyes flashing as if they might pounce at any moment.

Song Jing slowly opened her eyes: “Lan Zhi?”

She had just dreamt that the world hadn’t ended; it was just a dream. Now, suddenly awake, she was still somewhat confused about what was a dream and what was reality.

Then, one by one, everyone else woke up.

“Ah!” Lin Lizhong was the first to realize his position was wrong; they were tied up! He immediately began to struggle frantically.

“Who did this? Damn it!” Song Fei also struggled, but Lan Sheng had tied them up very tightly this time, so he couldn’t break free no matter how hard he tried.

Liu Qi moved, his hands and feet tightly bound: “Could it be… Lan Sheng?”

“Impossible! Why would Lan Sheng tie us up?” Song Jing retorted directly. However, after she said that, everyone fell silent, all looking at Lan Zhi.

Besides them, only Lan Zhi was there. And they were all tightly bound, their hands and feet bound, with a suspicious liquid hanging from the corner of Lan Zhi’s mouth, as if he had been drooling over them for a long time.
