Bai Ju was a little dazed by the way the several bureau chiefs were trying so hard to promote themselves. He subconsciously glanced at his phone screen. His friend request to Qu Lang had been accepted in an instant, and a chat box called “Turtle Island Barbecue Part-time Job Group” had been pushed to the top, with about a dozen chat messages hanging up, and the number in the red circle was still rising rapidly. It was obviously not a legitimate work group.

A strange warmth welled up in his heart, and Bai Ju’s fingers tightened around his phone. He couldn’t help but glance at the computer screen a few more times.

As if he had eyes through the screen, Director Deng accurately guessed Bai Ju’s little action even though she couldn’t see Bai Ju’s face. So she raised her chin and smiled, “Bai Wang, how about it? A congratulatory gift… do you want it?”

What congratulatory gift… Bai Ju swallowed, his Adam’s apple bobbing, and his heart was beating more intensely than usual. His throat was a little hoarse, and Bai Ju moved his lips. After a while, he let out a soft laugh: “…Thank you.”

After a pause, Bai Ju continued, “It’s good that Yao Yao has a family like you.”

Director Deng’s eyes dimmed slightly.

Family… even though they were close enough to Xiao Yao, they couldn’t fill the missing piece in his life. After all, things didn’t always match; no matter how close the relationship, acquired family could never be as special as innate family.

Only Bai Wang, who accurately jumped into the lover’s category, might have the potential to fill that missing piece of the puzzle. Director Deng’s slightly lingering smile returned to its perfect form, her voice languid and relaxed, a stark contrast to her work tone: “Don’t be so formal… We wouldn’t dare presume to hear ‘uncle’ or ‘aunt’ by Bai Wang, but we’d like to shamelessly try to get closer to you, since we’re all family from now on.”

Bai Ju smiled, not denying her initial “I wouldn’t dare.”

After all, he was a demon king, and his relationship with Xiao Yao had gradually evolved to its current state; he didn’t care about seniority at all. But this was an exception. Even if he was willing to lower himself to be a junior in front of these people for Xiao Yao’s sake, he couldn’t truly be indifferent; at most, he could only tolerate it.

Director Deng saw things clearly and spoke the truth, both bringing them closer without going too far, and also perfectly hitting Bai Ju’s acceptable line.

Xiao Yao naturally wouldn’t make any extra demands in this regard. In fact, he would only feel uncomfortable if Bai Ju took the initiative to lower himself and call her “aunt.” Bai Ju was still proud at heart, and he didn’t intend to use his status as Xiao Yao’s lover to lower Bai Ju’s head.

“Yao Yao, add me.” Bai Ju handed his phone to Xiao Yao, his gaze fixed on the stray hairs behind his ear. “I want to receive a red envelope.”

Xiao Yao: “…” Even though he was the one who came out first, hearing Bai Ju’s confident “I want to receive a red envelope” still made his face flush.

Trying to ignore the heat on his face, Xiao Yao took Bai Ju’s phone, tapping away while trying to distract him: “Don’t just look at me, show your face so Director Deng and the others can recognize you.”

Bai Ju responded softly, “Okay.”

Then, he deftly bent down, bringing his head close to Xiao Yao’s, his entire face appearing within the camera’s field of view.

His eyes were lowered, his gaze lingering on the stray hairs behind Xiao Yao’s ears, noticing that his once white earlobes had turned a beautiful red, and he couldn’t help but purse his lips and let out a soft laugh.

It was obvious to everyone that he wanted to kiss him.

But the screen was filled with Xiao Yao’s family; such an action, while intimate, carried a subtle implication and wasn’t suitable for others to see.

Bai Ju restrained himself, glancing at him again before raising his eyes to look at the camera, his dark pupils deep and calm: “Greetings, everyone.”

Three gasps came simultaneously from the other end of the screen. A silence lasted two or three seconds, and just as Bai Ju was starting to feel uneasy, Director Deng reacted first; her eyes scanned Bai Ju’s face twice, and she coughed lightly: “Hmm…it seems there’s a reason Director Xiao likes you.”

He’s so damn good-looking, she’d gladly give a red envelope to such a dog.

A pure doubt flashed in Bai Ju’s eyes; he could see his own face in the small window on the screen. He raised his hand to touch the lines at the corner of his eye, smiled, glanced down at Xiao Yao, and his tone softened involuntarily: “Thank you for liking me, Yao Yao…this scar is still a bit scary.”

“Cough cough cough… not scary, not scary!” Director Liu from Xiangcheng choked on his saliva, coughing until his old face turned red, and quickly waved his hands loudly, “Good-looking! Especially popular with young people!”

Bai Ju: “…”

As far as he knew, even on the relatively open internet, a considerable number of people didn’t accept tattoos, and thought that his overly flamboyant and bizarre scar on his face would likely be disliked by many.

However, he didn’t know that there was a kind of creature without any bottom line called a “face-con,” nor did he know that he had already become the star attraction in the live stream of the straight male streamer Barbecued Pork Bun, although he had been somewhat overshadowed by Captain Qu a couple of days ago.

Meng Du’s Director Sang opened and closed his mouth but couldn’t utter a word, as Director Deng and Director Liu quickly stole all his lines, so he could only dryly conclude amidst Director Liu’s cough: “You (look) very good, we wish you both well.”

Bai Ju liked to hear this.

He pinched Xiao Yao’s arm where the camera couldn’t see it and promised with a hint of solemnity: “We will be fine.”

After a few more pointless words, the three people on the other end accepted Bai Ju’s friend requests one after another, eagerly asking him to like their posts on WeChat Moments.

Bai Ju, being quite obedient this time, agreed to like the posts and immediately started fiddling with his phone, diligently liking every single post from the various “Demon Management Bureau” branches active on Moments, from square dance videos to drinking eight glasses of water a day. He even clumsily forwarded a few quick and easy recipes, receiving a like from Qu Lang within seconds. Then, on Xiao Yao’s end, Qu Lang’s chat window started flashing wildly:

“Brother Xiao! Brother Xiao! Something terrible has happened!”

“Is this ‘Bai Wang’ account fake? Or was it hacked?”

Xiao Yao: “…”

What a load of rubbish.

Holding his forehead, Xiao Yao tried to hold back for a moment but couldn’t help laughing.

His eyes filled with a soft, sweet warmth, Xiao Yao sent Qu Lang a hammer emoji, then quickly typed an explanation: “Go check Aunt Deng’s and the others’ WeChat Moments.”

Qu Lang was silent for about ten seconds.

Then he sent a series of ellipses, finally ending with a Buddhist-like emoji.

Looking up, he said a few more words to the people on the other side of the screen to keep in touch, and then Xiao Yao and Bai Ju ended the video conference.

Bai Ju had already liked all the posts of the branch chiefs for a month and was about to put his phone away when a floating window popped up at the top of the screen.

It was a friend request from Ji Yun.

Bai Ju remembered that this human’s theoretical research on metaphysics surpassed that of many sorcerers, so he raised an eyebrow, clicked “accept,” and simultaneously informed Xiao Yao, “Ji Yun added me.”

Xiao Yao, naturally aware of this person’s abilities, nodded and replied, “His research on metaphysics is quite interesting. Brother Bai, remember to chat with him more often in the future; it might benefit you too.”

Bai Ju hummed in agreement, thought for a moment, and then sent a message to Ji Yun, telling him that he wanted to give him two cultivation manuals to study when they met that evening. After arranging the time, he turned off his phone.

Bai Ju reached into his pocket, pinched Xiao Yao’s neck, and massaged his long-sat-down boyfriend for a few moments. Then, he lowered his head and called out, “Yao Yao.”

Xiao Yao, squinting, took off his gold-rimmed glasses and placed them on the table, enjoying the moment. Hearing Bai Ju’s voice, he gave a soft hum in response and asked in a relaxed tone, “What’s wrong?”

Bai Ju’s hand moved to Xiao Yao’s shoulder, his head lowered even further, his nose brushing against Xiao Yao’s hair. His voice was muffled: “I want to kiss you.”

Then, before Xiao Yao could react, he turned his head and gently took Xiao Yao’s right earlobe into his mouth, along with a few fine black hairs behind it.

His tongue licked the hair, and Bai Ju gently bit it. His soft lips, warm with the heat of his mouth, sent a soft sigh into Xiao Yao’s ear: “…Just now, I really wanted to kiss here.”

Xiao Yao felt a boom in his head, and his whole body went limp.

Old White Dog, just kiss is you want to, why the dirty talk?
