Bai Yue stepped back, holding his hand to the tip of his nose as if thinking: “An Yu, I think you may have misunderstood something.”

An Yu: “What?”

Bai Yue: “Our relationship is not good.”

An Yu was stunned.

Indeed, from the day he met Bai Yue, there was no peace between them. Or more often than not, it was he who unilaterally disliked Bai Yue.

But in An Yu’s view, it was just a minor friction caused by the fact that they were both Omegas. Besides, Bai Yue saved him that night, so couldn’t this be an opportunity to reconcile?

“But you saved me that night—”

“I didn’t say that,” Bai Yue interrupted An Yu, asking, “And you, believing that so naively, what are you trying to do?”

What?

An Yu didn’t think too much. He simply hoped to find his Prince Charming from that day, express his gratitude, and then, if possible… write a romantic and touching love story together.

And if that person was Bai Yue…

An Yu gritted his teeth. “Are you trying to say you’re dating Shang Yufei? But now you’ve differentiated into an Alpha. Between you two, it’s simply impossible!”

Bai Yue: “Why?”

This was so logical to An Yu that he was taken aback by the counter-question.

“Because… Alphas repel each other with their pheromones. Even if you still have feelings for each other from your past relationship, those feelings will inevitably fade over time. Breaking up is inevitable.”

The wind picked up, then died down. Bai Yue’s hair was ruffled. Nearby, a streetlight suddenly flickered, extinguishing and then lighting up again.

Bai Yue: “An Yu,” he whispered softly, “It doesn’t seem like it’s any of your business.”

This was the first time An Yu had seen Bai Yue with such an expression. His lips curled, but the smile was terrifying.

In a different sense, his heart pounded against his chest. “I, I’m just stating the truth!”

Truth?

To others, it made sense. Bai Yue understood why he felt that way. It was one of the reasons he initially avoided Shang Yufei after the Secondary Differentiation.

However, once he considered the ulterior motive behind his words, Bai Yue found it difficult to understand.

Why was he so confident? First toward Shang Yufei, then toward him.

Did he think that if he took the initiative, he would be reciprocated?

Bai Yue looked at An Yu: “I admit, I was the one who saved you that night. But so what?”

“I saved you out of personal morality. Even if you hadn’t been the one entangled that night, I would have done the same thing.”

He narrowed his eyes. “You don’t think your charm is enough to make anything possible between us?”

His words were merciless. It was as if several sharp blades were piercing his chest, and An Yu’s lips turned pale.

He was indeed delusional. As long as he set his eyes on something, he would fight for it at all costs.

Therefore, even though Shang Yufei had clearly rejected him at the time, he still pursued him stubbornly. Because he felt that Shang Yufei just didn’t think it through. He was better than Bai Yue in both appearance and family background.

As for Bai Yue, when he knew that the other party was the mysterious person who saved him. All the emotions and feelings he had accumulated before were poured into Bai Yue at once.

It was obviously his own idea, but when all of this was ruthlessly exposed. It made An Yu feel as if he was not wearing any clothes, and he was ashamed all over.

Bai Yue’s words continued, but his volume was not loud, and they floated lightly in the air.

“I’ve always felt you have an overpowering sense of superiority.”

“Your face is only average-looking, and your genetics are just average, B-grade. How can you think everyone should like you?”

“You,” he smiled, without a trace of malice, “are hopelessly narcissistic.”

These last words were like the straw that broke the camel’s back.

There hadn’t been any violence, but An Yu felt it was far more painful than when Fang Zhenren slapped him that day.

That day, he’d fought hard not to cry. But when Bai Yue said that to him, his vision blurred and tears streamed down his face like a broken string.

If any other Alpha had seen his pitiful expression, they would have rushed to offer comfort. But the culprit behind all this simply turned his head and gazed toward the distant platform.

Bai Yue: “Ah, the next bus is here.”

He looked at An Yu, tears welling in his eyes, his brows curved slightly. “Go home now, don’t get harassed by these hooligans anymore.”

That day, An Yu wept all night, clutching his broken heart.

Regardless, Bai Yue didn’t care what An Yu thought.

His words were a bit harsh, but as long as the other party stopped imagining things, he’d let them go.

But the next day at school, when he walked into the school gate and saw the bright red banner, he wondered: Is this retribution?

[Congratulations to our student Bai Yue on successfully enrolling at the Imperial Military Academy with an S+ rank!]

The white letters on a red background, when unfolded, stretched a full five meters long, and were blatantly hung in the middle of the outer wall of the teaching building—a spot visible upon entering the school.

He remembered that Shang Yufei had also received this kind of favor last year. At the time, Bai Yue had only found it amusing, but now that it was happening to him, even he felt a slight flush on his face.

Besides, he had just contacted General Lu last night to inform him of his enrolment; how could the school have rushed it out so quickly?

He looked away, forcing himself to divert his attention.

Walking through the school gate, he was bathed in scorching gazes and the lingering whispers of his soul.

And when he looked over, a group of Omega students were all holding their faces and screaming, while the Alpha students were dejected, wiping away the tears from the corners of their eyes.

“…”

Bai Yue looked up at the sky.

After entering the classroom, perhaps because it was still relatively early, not many people had arrived. But when the few students who had just arrived saw him, they immediately stood at attention and said in unison: “Welcome classmate Bai Yue!”

Standing in the front and leading the way was his good friend named “Li Ren”.

Bai Yue smiled and slammed the classroom door shut.

It must be because he opened the door in the wrong way.

Bai Yue was about to open it again, but he heard an impatient male voice behind him.

“Why are you blocking here? Go in quickly!”

He turned and saw the person who came was the younger brother who usually hung out with Fang Zhenren.

He hadn’t noticed who was in front of him. He’d just been released from the hospital after days of lying in bed for nothing, and he was already irritable. So, seeing someone blocking the door, he snapped without thinking. His expression however changed drastically when he saw who it was.

He recalled the fear he’d felt that evening, overwhelmed by the man’s terrifying pheromones. He thus staggered back a few steps as if he’d seen a ghost, then ran away, screaming, disappearing at the end of the corridor. He wondered how long it would take for the wounds in his heart to heal.

Bai Yue watched him leave.

Suddenly, the classroom door in front of him opened on its own. Li Ren stood inside, asking, “Why’s it closed? Are you dissatisfied with this welcome ceremony?”

Bai Yue turned back, looking at his bewildered friend, his smile faltering. “No need for a welcome ceremony.”

The days that followed were uneventful. Except for the excessive affection showered on him by the school, which was a little too much for him to bear.

For a long time, he was visited by several military academies, hoping to recruit Bai Yue. However, upon learning that he had already been poached, they could only regret and leave in frustration.

Time flew by. Soon, the day arrived for him to go to the Imperial First Comprehensive Military Academy.
