The Metis Film Company was one of the top ten film companies in Country M and a renowned international film company.
Metis’s major films were often seen in cinemas across Country Z. Seeing the Metis logo, one knew that even if the plot wasn’t impressive, the spectacle and production were guaranteed to be top-notch.
Ace Mephisto was a child star signed by the company, and at such a young age, she had already become one of its pillars.
Metis was located on the eighteenth floor of the eponymous Metis Building.
Louis led Si Huang and the others through the elevator, encountering several handsome Western men and women in the elevator. They clearly knew Louis and were very polite to him.
Si Huang had no impression of them, but judging by their demeanor, he guessed they were newcomers to Metis.
After exiting the elevator, they arrived at Metis headquarters.
A handsome, white man with a melancholic, weathered demeanor strode towards them.
“Louis, if you don’t come soon, little Ace’s going to go crazy!” The handsome white man looked troubled.
Louis glanced at his watch. “I don’t think I’m late.”
“Luckily you’re not late,” James said helplessly, frowning his dark brown brows. “Arthur’s here.”
“Why is he here?” Louis asked in surprise, glancing at Si Huang.
James had already noticed the people approaching with him. In fact, he first noticed Qin Fan, because Qin Fan’s appearance was more in line with his aesthetic, and his aura and age made him more convincing.
As for Si Huang? Due to the differences between the West and the East, he always looked a year or two younger.
In James’ eyes, he was just a very beautiful and delicate Oriental boy, not yet an adult.
Yu Xi and Yu Ling’s attire made it clear at a glance that they were not the people he was waiting for.
“To discuss a collaboration,” James answered Louis’ question. “Meaning, if Ace is willing, she can be the female lead in his new music video.”
Louis could probably guess Ace’s reaction to this, “Let’s go in and take a look.”
“Yeah.” James meant the same thing.
Just as he was about to leave, Louis turned to look at Si Huang and asked, “Do you need to wait outside first?”
He had originally wanted to give Si Huang and Ace a good way to meet, but plans couldn’t keep up with changes. In order to prevent Si Huang from not understanding the situation and reacting badly, it was better to let Si Huang temporarily isolate himself from the conflict.
Si Huang understood what he meant and shook his head slightly. “It’s a good opportunity for me to get a glimpse of my opponent.”
This confident statement made Louis smile. “Okay.”
James stared at Si Huang in surprise, then looked at Qin Fan. After walking a few steps, he lowered his voice and asked Louis, “Isn’t the big guy the one you brought?”
“His name is Arnold, and he’s here to accompany Si Huang,” Louis explained. “Si Huang is the one I chose.”
James glared at him. “A little boy only a few years older than Ace!?”
Louis glared back. “Don’t think I don’t understand you! And don’t look at me with such suspicion!” James huffed and couldn’t help but glance back at Si Huang, finding him smiling back at him.
For some reason, James felt a little guilty at the smile, and the words he had been about to say slipped away.
They then walked down the corridor and through several glass doors before reaching their destination.
A room enclosed by translucent tempered glass allowed a glimpse of the men facing each other from the outside.
Si Huang tilted his head and noticed the two most eye-catching figures in the glass room.
A girl in a warm white, long-sleeved dress with a knee-length hem was visible because she was facing away from him. Instead, the man across from her was facing Si Huang.
He leaned against the edge of the stage, his long legs flexing. Just looking at his legs, it was clear he was over 1.8 meters tall.
With brilliant golden hair, flawless white skin, and captivating violet eyes, he met Si Huang’s gaze. He was a man who could drive women wild without even doing anything. He possessed unparalleled good looks and a captivating aura that transcended both genders. His violet, gemstone-like eyes, unlike An Yiyuan’s ever-present, peach-blossom eyes, were a pure gemstone hue. Even without any emotion, they captivated one with their gorgeous beauty.
When their eyes rippled with the owner’s emotions, they resembled a sea of violets shrouded in mist at night, exuding an intoxicating fragrance. It was incredibly romantic, transporting one to the sweetest of dreams.
Si Huang’s breath hitched, and she suddenly understood what it felt like to be simply stunned by beauty.
This beauty had nothing to do with gender, nor was it about being delicate or masculine; it was simply beautiful.
Her heartbeat quickened with a touch of excitement and a thrill of meeting a worthy opponent.
If her opponent were this man, she would be even more motivated.
A figure blocked the intersection of their vision, casting a shadow over Si Huang.
She raised her eyelids and saw Qin Fan’s discontented expression. A moment’s thought dawned on her, and she reached out to shake the man’s arm with amusement.
By then, the glass door had been pushed open, and James greeted the people inside.
Ace Mephisto turned, and Si Huang finally saw her face clearly.
No wonder the people of Country M called her the Child Cherub. Her features were so three-dimensional and delicate, like a doll, or like an angel of light carved in a relief. Her platinum-blonde hair and azure eyes were like the warm sunshine and sky, evoking all that was clear and beautiful—that was, when she was in a good mood.
The young girl, already a household name in her home country, was clearly in a bad mood. Her eyes were cold and irritated, and her cherry lips were tightly pursed, as if she were suppressing a swear that was about to erupt.
Ace’s gaze swept across James, then fell on Louis, Si Huang, and Qin Fan.
“Arthur, my partner has arrived,” the girl’s voice was crisp and clear, and even with her tone of annoyance, it was hard to evoke disgust. “Your intelligence is truly outdated, and you still have the nerve to come to me and beg for cooperation. Has your brain been gnawed away by termites?”
The blond man with purple eyes flickered his gaze from Si Huang and the others to Ace, his blood-red lips gently parting.
“Are you sure he can be better than me, little Ace?” His voice was heart-pounding, as husky and lazy as someone just waking up. Its tone held a unique, mysterious melody, like a troubadour from ancient times. “Don’t let your emotions cloud your reason; that’s truly childish.”
Ace’s azure eyes glowed brighter with rage. “I’m still childish, Arthur Stoker! And you, on the other hand, are becoming increasingly retarded.”
“I’m not here to argue with you,” Arthur straightened. “If you’ve truly decided on a partner, then I look forward to fighting you.”
He’d thought he’d finished, but the young Westerner suddenly changed the subject, adding, “I hope you’ll make me feel a little threatened, and not be too boring.”
Ace gritted her teeth. She was being forced into this situation. To avoid losing face in front of Arthur, she had to choose this little-known celebrity from Country Z whom she had never really met.
