Everyone around him wore a quizzical expression, as if they’d seen a ghost.

Gu Wuji quickly understood. After all, while this young master might appear arrogant, his two bodyguards were nowhere to be found, and he must be terrified.

Driven by the desire to do good, Gu Wuji quickly put his mobile game aside and agreed to Yang Shao’s request.

Yang Shao finally breathed a sigh of relief. He didn’t want to see someone like Gu Wuji regain his memory; who knew what would happen then? It would be best if everyone thought they were just ordinary people.

As it was getting late, the group quickly prepared for bed.

Still preoccupied with the dungeon, Yang Shao turned around to find Gu Wuji sound asleep, seemingly at home in this environment.

Yang Shao: “…”

He was now certain this man truly had no memories!

….

In his sleep, Gu Wuji suddenly heard someone calling him from outside the window.

He opened his eyes and looked out the window. It was already late at night, yet he could strangely see the view outside clearly. In the hazy mist, a figure was approaching.

Gu Wuji could tell it was the young man holding the umbrella from before, but he couldn’t see his face. He could only vaguely make out the lower half of his face. He must have been handsome, and the clothes he was wearing looked like the kind of wedding attire someone would have worn long ago.

He had clearly never seen this person before, but Gu Wuji felt a sense of familiarity, as if they had met before, long ago…

The other person spoke slowly, his voice soft, yet it echoed in Gu Wuji’s mind.

“You’re finally here.”

“What did you say?” Gu Wuji abruptly stood up, his mind a blur, barely able to think. He simply wanted to get the answer he wanted from the other person. “Who are you?”

The other person didn’t answer his question, only whispering, “This time, you can’t leave. Even if he helps you, it won’t help.”

Gu Wuji’s forehead ached. He wanted to suspect that the man had mistaken him, but something in his subconscious told him that all this was truly about him.

As the words fell, the man’s figure slowly walked away into the mist. As he was about to disappear, Gu Wuji stood up and hurriedly tried to chase him. The others in the room were fast asleep at this time. Even those accidentally kicked by Gu Wuji remained motionless, their stiff bodies unsettling.

Yang Shao lay on the ground, seemingly asleep, but in reality, he took in everything, his heart filled with fear.

The strange man who had appeared at first appeared handsome to Gu Wuji, but in Yang Shao’s eyes… he frightened him to the point of freezing him. He’d assumed Gu Wuji was about to die, and then the ghost actually left? If Yang Shao knew what lewd words the ghost had exchanged with Gu Wuji, his entire world would have been shattered.

The moment Gu Wuji leaned out the window, he felt a sudden chill, as if emerging from a protective shield. It instantly sobered him up, and he saw clearly that two burly figures stood nearby.

They were Yang Shao’s bodyguards, but now they looked strange, their bodies stiff, their faces pale, as if they were dead.

If Gu Wuji hadn’t lost his memory, he would have immediately recognized that they were indeed dead, and likely the type that would be difficult to deal with. But he still believed in science and simply assumed that the bodyguards had been frozen to death in the village.

“Are you all right?” Gu Wuji looked at them in surprise. “Since you’re back, why are you standing outside?”

Gu Wuji wondered if Yang Shao hadn’t paid them enough. Two such large men were frozen to this point. What kind of physical fitness did they have? They were simply too strong to be like this outside.

Before Yang Shao could recover, he was shocked again. He could clearly sense that the two bodyguards were as dead as dead could be. The resentment they carried was incredibly thick. Normally, only those who died with utter resentment would harbor such a strong sense of vengeance…

If anything, the two bodyguards had become one with the very atmosphere of the village. Yang Shao couldn’t imagine what had happened to them. But he still chose to play dead.

The two men didn’t respond. Instead, they stared at Gu Wuji, as if they had finally found a scapegoat. With a grim smile on their lips, they lunged towards him, grabbed Gu Wuji by the shirt, and tried to drag him out of the room—but they couldn’t.

The bodyguard pulling him paused, as if challenged. The other bodyguard impatiently came up to grab Gu Wuji.

Despite the incredible strength of the two men, Gu Wuji didn’t move at all.

Yang Shao: “…”

The two bodyguards: “…”

The expressions of the two bodyguards, who were already very pale, became even uglier and more ferocious. They looked at Gu Wuji with surprise.

What’s going on? This guy looks like an ordinary student who is powerless. Why is he so indifferent to their strength!

Gu Wuji didn’t feel anything at all. He just felt that the two men didn’t use much strength after grabbing his collar. He felt more and more that the two bodyguards were liars! Are there bodyguards with such weak bodies?

Coupled with the various strange things he encountered in this village, Gu Wuji suddenly thought in his heart.

Logically speaking, how could two grown men go out and get lost in this village… Coupled with such strange behavior, could it be that these two bodyguards were not good people from the beginning! After all, Yang Shao was a young master, and it was said that his relationship with his family was strained because of his stepmother. Wasn’t this a typical melodramatic story of a wealthy family’s feud? Maybe the weirdness in the village was part of a family feud, and it was all faked by someone!

The more Gu Wuji thought about it, the more he felt that this was the case, and he immediately grabbed the hand of the bodyguard in front of him, ready to verify it.

The bodyguard immediately felt as if his hand was about to break, and the look in his eyes when he looked at Gu Wuji was already terrified.

No matter how you look at it, it was obvious that this Gu Wuji was more like a ghost than them!!

Their mission was originally just to come to this place to find two people to be scapegoats. They originally thought that these people were obviously ordinary people, and there would be no problem anyway… But what’s the matter with this Gu Wuji!

The bodyguard looked at his colleague for help, but the other bodyguard had already run away when he saw that the situation was not right. The situation suddenly became tense and exciting.

Gu Wuji said, “Although I don’t know who sent you, I can’t stand seeing you doing something illegal like this!”

The bodyguard’s face turned pale when he heard the first half of the sentence. He didn’t notice that Gu Wuji was talking about something illegal afterwards. After all, it was too inappropriate for this occasion.

Gu Wuji took out his cell phone to call the police but found that there was no signal at all. He frowned, “Why is there no signal at this time…”

At that moment, the bodyguard twisted his body in a strange manner, suddenly breaking free from Gu Wuji’s grasp and disappearing into the mist.

Gu Wuji was somewhat surprised. “It seems these bodyguards still have some skills, even if they’re a little weak. It seems Yang Shao isn’t such a fool after all.”

Gu Wuji returned to the house but didn’t chase after them. After all, who knew what was waiting outside? He thought it would be better to wait until daybreak to discuss the situation.

He hadn’t expected a visit to a remote village to involve such a feud between wealthy families.

Lying on the ground, Yang Shao felt exhausted, his mind and body filled with mixed emotions. Who on earth was this Gu Wuji? He had lost his memory, yet he was still so ruthless! Why was he so completely different from what he had previously known in the system space…

At daybreak, before Gu Wuji could share his findings with the others, he heard screams from outside.

Several people hurried out of the room, only to find the couple, both deceased, hanging inside. Their deaths were horrific, their bodies shrouded in terror, as if they had suffered some horrific event.

The girl, devastated, lay weeping on the ground nearby.

The players were stunned by the sight. While ordinary students would undoubtedly be traumatized by the sight, they had subconsciously experienced so many dungeons, so they were simply overwhelmed. But honestly, aside from Gu Wuji and Yang Shao, the other three had never seen such a sight before.

“What’s going on…”

“How could this happen?! Why are they dead all of a sudden?”

“What happened while we were sleeping?”

Meanwhile, the other villagers had hurriedly gathered, gazing at the couple’s bodies with horror, but no one dared to go and lower them.

“This is exactly as the rumors said.”

“I said before that we can’t do it! Sure enough, the grave was dug up and the seal loosened! Now we will all die!”

“And these outsiders, their arrival must have disturbed the adults…”

The villagers looked at Gu Wuji and the others with very unfriendly eyes.

Gu Wuji and the others were simply complaining. Even if they explained, it was useless. These people wanted to kill them directly but considering that it was still a society ruled by law, they reluctantly forced Gu Wuji and the others to go to the village chief’s house.

After everyone left, the expression of the girl kneeling on the ground and crying suddenly changed. She looked at the bodies of her parents and a smile appeared on her face.

“Sister, they have all paid the price now…”
