Perhaps it was a devil’s talent, but Luo Mi made very little noise when he walked or even ran. He quietly followed behind the mayor’s subordinates and watched them lock the girl in the dungeon.

It was called a dungeon, but it was actually just a sunken warehouse with a lot of wood piled at the door.

After locking the door, the men left without leaving anyone to guard it, as if they were very confident that the people inside would not escape.

Luo Mi quietly approached the door, looked at the heavy brass lock, estimated his own strength, gave up rationally, and found a small window instead.

The window was very small and the angle was awkward. Luo Mi thought he would never be able to get in, but after trying a bit, he actually managed to get in with his back bent almost 90 degrees.

Luo Mi held his waist, feeling very surprised: “This body is so flexible!”

[It’s a succubus after all.]

Luo Mi jumped down from the window, landed lightly, and looked at the girl who was chained to the pillar.

The girl sat on the ground hugging her knees, with bloodstains on her bare feet and calves, looking a little scary.

She stared at Luo Mi in a daze, as if she didn’t expect that someone could get in through such a small window.

This time Luo Mi finally saw her face clearly, and it actually felt familiar to him. He quickly remembered – wasn’t this the girl in the photo in the wooden house where he stole the clothes from?

Luo Mi coughed and smiled kindly: “Vivian Moon?”

The girl stared at Luo Mi, her expression gradually becoming dazed, as she murmured, “Are you the angel who came to pick me up?”

Luo Mi felt a little strange that he was mistaken for an angel despite being a demon.

If the occasion wasn’t right, he would have wanted to reply, “I’m not an angel, I’m a devil.”

But Luo Mi remembered that the girl was only eight years old. So, he slowly approached and said in a slow voice, “Vivian, do you want to escape?”

A certain word seemed to touch Vivian Moon’s exposed nerve, and a trace of panic appeared on her freckled face: “Escape? I can’t escape!”

Luo Mi thought for a moment and asked tentatively: “Is it because of your father?”

Vivian’s expression became dazed again: “Are you really an angel? If I run away, the mayor will beat my father to death, so I can’t run away.”

She suddenly woke up and knelt down hurriedly, “Angel, can you save my father? He has a fever and can’t get up from the bed. He will die without a doctor!”

Luo Mi didn’t see Vivian’s father in the cabin. He frowned slightly but didn’t show it. He just asked Vivian: “I’m not an angel. I just want to ask you, do you want to escape?”

Vivian was stunned for a moment, and suddenly covered her eyes: “They said that I killed my mother and made my father and Anna sick…”

As she spoke, she buried her face between her knees and sobbed.

Luo Mi sighed silently and asked the system: “Vivian shouldn’t be a witch, right?”

[There is no magic power, and no smell of contact with the devil.]

Luo Mi originally wanted to touch Vivian’s head to comfort her, but then he remembered that the Vatican was able to detect people who had come into contact with the devil, so he did not do it as he did not wish to implicate Vivian.

He searched the warehouse to see if he could find tools to help Vivian unlock the shackles and door locks.

Unfortunately, the mayor was not one to make such a mistake.

Luo Mi couldn’t find the tools, and Vivian herself refused to leave, so he could only help Vivian clean up the nearby ground to make Vivian’s environment more comfortable.

Before leaving, Luo Mi solemnly promised Vivian: “A real angel will come to save you.”

….

After Luo Mi climbed out of the window, he looked around and began to consider where to find Anos.

Before he could decide which way to go, he felt the collar around his neck tighten, as if someone was pulling it in a certain direction.

Luo Mi seemed to realize something and ran in that direction, turning several times and finally arriving in front of a house with walls painted gray.

Anos stood at the door, saw Luo Mi coming, and asked, “Where have you been?”

Luo Mi truthfully recounted what he had seen and heard, and at the end he said, “Vivian’s father should be the one who… sold me the clothes, but he is no longer there.”

He almost said the word “stole”, but fortunately he changed his mind at the last minute.

Anos nodded and pointed to the house next door: “Gulf Moon is here.”

Luo Mi was surprised: “How did your highness find him?”

Anos did not answer this question, but said: “I forgot to tell you, from now on, just call me by my name outside, don’t use honorifics.”

Luo Mi saw that Anos was serious and deliberately said, “No problem, Your Highness Saint Son Anos.”

Anos did not cooperate with his joke and turned to look at the gray-walled house.

A nun with frosted hair came out and bowed slightly to Anos: “Sir, old Moon has gone to bed.”

Anos nodded: “How is he doing?”

The old nun showed a trace of worry on her face: “Old Moon is not young. He caught a cold and his wound is infected. He may not be well. I have given him medicine, but it depends on whether his fever can go down tonight.”

Anos glanced into the house, pondered for a moment, put on a white glove on his left hand, and walked into the house.

Out of curiosity, Luo Mi followed him in and saw a white-haired man lying on the bed.

He remembered looking at the photos in the wooden house before. Vivian’s father looked no more than 40 years old and was in good spirits in them. However, the man on the bed now had gray hair and a thin body. At first glance, he looked like he was almost 60 years old.

Old Moon also had many scars on his body, which showed at first glance that he had been beaten by someone. The most serious ones on his arms and thighs had already begun to fester.

Anos spread out his left hand, with a silver chain cross hanging from his palm. The cross emblem on the back of his hand lit up slightly, and he opened his lips slightly: “God loves the world…”

Just when Luo Mi thought that Anos was going to recite some prayers, he heard Anos continue to say in holy text: “Give the world antibiotics…”

Luo Mi: “…”

As Anos spoke, a shimmering light like water flowed from the silver cross, as if it was wrapped in an invisible ball of water.

Anos placed the cross on Old Moon’s body, and the ripples of light randomly spread to Old Moon’s entire body.

Covered by the shimmering light, the festering wounds began to heal slowly.

Luo Mi couldn’t help but ask: “Saint… Anos, what are antibiotics?”

“The medicine developed by the Vatican’s Medical Monastery can effectively cure wound infections and other diseases which has a very good effect on most patients.” Anos took off the white glove on his left hand and put it back in his arms. “Everything in the world was created by God, and antibiotics are no exception. Therefore, as God’s agent, I can use holy light to simulate the effects of antibiotics.”

The logic was very reasonable. So, Luo Mi sighed: “I thought you would use some magic to heal people completely.”

Anos shook his head: “Healing magic only stimulates vitality by force, which is not good for the body in the long run.”

Anos did not take back the silver chain cross. He turned and left the gray-walled house and said to the nun, “After Gulf Moon wakes up, prepare some light food for him and don’t let him move around.”

The nun agreed, then became a little uneasy: “If Old Moon insists on leaving, I can’t stop him.”

“No, I cast a spell, he has no strength.” Anos said gently, “If he is worried about Vivian Moon, tell him that his daughter will be released soon.”

The nun then nodded.

Anos turned and walked towards the church.

On the way, Luo Mi learned that when Anos went to perform magic to forge a miracle, he met old Moon who was unconscious behind the church. So seeing that Vivian was not in danger for the time being, he took old Moon to the clinic attached to the church and asked the nun to help take care of him.

Seeing that Anos was so calm about forging miracles, Luo Mi couldn’t help but ask, “You forged an angelic miracle in the sky… wasn’t it disrespectful to God?”

A trace of confusion appeared on Anos’s pretty face: “Why would it be disrespectful?”

“Well, doesn’t God require believers not to lie?”

“I’m not lying.” Anos turned his head, his eyes, bluer than the sky, clear and frank, “I am an angel walking on the earth, so what I showed was naturally an angel’s miracle.”

Luo Mi was speechless.

He was impressed by the self-confidence in Anos’ words.

“Everything about me was created by God, and my actions are naturally arranged by God.” Anos made a cross and looked up at the sky devoutly. “It’s not that I want to perform a miracle, but God wants to perform a miracle through my hand.”

Luo Mi finally understood the subtle contradictions in some of Anos’ behaviors: he sincerely believed that God had arranged everything, and everything he did was what God wanted him to do. Naturally, he had no psychological burden in using divine magic to hypnotize the Knights, forging angelic miracles, and so on.

“I think he’s a bit extreme.” Luo Mi said to the system, “A devout believer is too scary. Will such a person really rebel against the Church and become a villain?”

[According to the original plot, the Son of God should have already begun to fall, but no one has noticed it on the surface.]

Luo Mi thought for a moment and said, “That’s right. The more extreme a person is, the further they will deviate from the direction they were set on.”

As for how to make Anos deviate from the direction, that was what Luo Mi had to do. He believed that in this huge institution of the Holy See, there must be a lot of things that were completely contrary to Anos’s beliefs.

Wasn’t there one right now?

Luo Mi followed Anos’s steps and asked, “Your Highness the Holy Son seems to be against the Witch Trials?”

“Don’t call me Holy Son right now.” Anos corrected him before continuing, “The Church does not recognize any witch trials.”

This was a little beyond Luo Mi’s expectations: “Why?”

“According to the descriptions, in most witch trials, witches are humans bewitched by demons and granted the ability to curse or bring disaster. They please the demons through sacrifices and gain more powerful powers.”

Anos glanced at Luo Mi when he said this, “You are also a demon, can you grant abilities to others?”

Luo Mi muttered, “I don’t even know what I am capable of.”

The body he traveled through was that of a succubus, who knew some basic charm techniques, but after being sealed by the collar, he couldn’t even use them.

“That’s the problem – low-level demons can’t grant humans abilities, only very high-level demons can do that. But demons of this level can’t pass through the light domain barrier at all.

“To put it another way, even if a great demon somehow entered the Light Realm, he would not do such a thing as luring ordinary humans from a small border town. This is meaningless to a demon.

“Even if you want to seduce someone to fall, you should go to a high-ranking official of the Church or a great noble, at least a bishop or earl.”

Luo Mi couldn’t help but glance at Anos.

The current Son of God and future Pope beside him was probably the target that the demons were most eager to target.

“So, what you’re saying is… there are no real witches?”

Anos nodded: “In fact, up to now, the Church has not found any real witches or wizards. Even in the southern principality where raising little demons is a trend.”

Luo Mi touched his chin and said, “Then why are there so many witch trials?”

There was silence in Anos’s blue eyes: “This is what I want to investigate.”
