Jiang Sui sat down at the table opposite him. Liang Qian’er was surprised and sat next to Jiang Sui.
Chi Yan said: “Bring some cakes here.”
Shui Yang followed his orders and quickly gave orders after hearing them. After a while, several exquisite pastries were placed on the table.
Neither of the two girls opposite moved. Jiang Sui’s eyes fell on the scar on Chi Yan’s cheek and she frowned slightly. She remembered that Chi Yan’s cheek had no scar before. After all, many things had really changed.
Chi Yan noticed her gaze. He paused and said, “I’m sorry for asking you to come here today. We won’t buy the house by force. If you don’t want to sell it, just say it.”
His tone was cold and without any unnecessary emotion. Although his words were very polite, Liang Qian’er’s face turned pale in an instant.
“I’ll sell!” She thought Chi Yan was taking a step back and not buying her house. “My family agrees to sell it at the original price!”
Chi Yan glanced at her: “Okay, you go out and sign the contract later.” He was extremely indifferent and calm, which made Liang Qian’er tremble again. She used to bully Chi Yan secretly, but now she was on pins and needles and extremely scared in front of him.
But when she thought about his current status, she had a strange feeling in her heart. This man was really capable.
Jiang Sui was also a little surprised. She hesitated for a moment: “Sorry, my house doesn’t want to be sold.” She pursed her pretty lips, “I know this will cause a lot of trouble to you, but the house is something left by my mother.”
Chi Yan folded his fingers and placed them on the table, then turned his attention to Jiang Sui.
Jiang Sui was also looking at him. She apologized softly: “I’m sorry. If you have any projects to start in the compound in the future, our family will try our best to cooperate.”
She had really grown up, and her speech no longer had the milky sound of her childhood, but instead sounded like a little hook.
Chi Yan said, “Okay.” He saw her relieved, and then asked, “Would you like to try the cake?”
After all, they had agreed, and they couldn’t live without eating. Jiang Sui picked up her fork and ate a small piece of cream cake. The creamy, milky flavor melted in her mouth. She couldn’t help but blink. It was delicious.
Liang Qian’er’s face turned pale and she forced a smile: “Chi Yan, I used to…”
Chi Yan raised his hand and interrupted her: “I have something else to do, so I’ll leave first.”
He picked up the coat on the chair and glanced at Jiang Sui. She stood up, saw him looking at her, and smiled hesitantly. It was shaky and delicate, it looked good, but it was extremely stiff.
It seemed that she was really afraid that her house would not be saved.
Shui Yang couldn’t help but glance at Jiang Sui several times.
The woman who was responsible for the previous negotiations respectfully invited the two girls out.
Shui Yang noticed that although Chi Yan’s expression did not change, in just ten minutes, the boss looked at the girl in the light cyan skirt more than ten times.
Chi Yan probably didn’t even know it himself.
Shui Yang clicked his tongue, she was beautiful, but she was a little too small. She looked young and delicate, and she won’t even sell her house, so why would he… ahem.
When he thought that Chi Yan was also at a young age, his mind suddenly became more active. The boss also had physical needs!
Chi Yan sat for a while and looked at the cake Jiang Sui had eaten. He wanted to walk to the hotel opposite, but suddenly said: “Shui Yang, when was the original time to visit Mr. Chen?”
Shui Yang glanced at the schedule: “The day after tomorrow.”
“Let’s change it to this afternoon.”
Shui Yang was stunned for a moment, then said: “Are you going now?”
Chi Yan said expressionlessly: “Yeah.”
….
Jiang Sui opened her umbrella and walked home. She didn’t expect that the boss would be Chi Yan, and the matter was actually resolved like this.
This meal was originally the Hongmen Banquet[1], so once the house matter was settled, she would obviously not stay to eat.
When a black car passed in front of her, the driver pressed down the window and showed a friendly smile: “Miss Jiang, would you like me to give you a ride? It’s on the way.”
She recognized this was Shui Yang, the man who had been following Chi Yan just now. Jiang Sui said quickly: “Thank you, no need.”
Shui Yang glanced at the dull-faced boss in the rearview mirror and coughed: “Come up first. I have some future construction projects to tell you.”
Jiang Sui closed the umbrella hesitantly: “Okay.”
After all, her family was the only one holding them back, which was really embarrassing. The back door opened and she saw Chi Yan sitting upright: “…”
Chi Yan said: “Get in the car, the rain is coming in.”
Jiang Sui quickly got into the car.
The hem of her skirt was a little wet, so she was careful not to touch him.
The air conditioner was on in the car and there was a light aroma, which made Jiang Sui feel extremely uncomfortable. She completely regained the feeling she had when she first faced Chi Yan. Fear and slight embarrassment.
Chi Yan turned to look at her.
Jiang Sui didn’t squint her eyes but stammered as she asked Shui Yang, “What projects will be built here in the future?”
Shui Yang was talking casually. He didn’t know what kind of project would be built, so he continued to talk nonsense: “Maybe we can raise shallow water clams. Don’t you have a stream over there? The water quality is good. You can also do other things.”
Jiang Sui said: “Yeah.” As long as they didn’t build a polluting factory.
When Shui Yang saw that his boss remained silent, he sighed softly and drove into the largest puddle.
The car was driving smoothly, but with a sudden bump, Jiang Sui fell over, and her tender fingers happened to press Chi Yan’s leg.
The muscles under her palms were warm and tight, and she immediately retracted her hands. The tips of her ears turned red, and she couldn’t help but apologize: “Yes, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”
This unexpected incident made Chi Yan stiffen. He pursed his lips and gave Shui Yang a warning look in the rearview mirror.
He said calmly to Jiang Sui: “It’s okay.”
Jiang Sui wanted to chop her hands off.
This time she held on to the car tightly, not daring to tip over to Chi Yan’s side even if the car overturned.
The autumn scenery this year was deserted, and the yellow fallen leaves outside the window were blown up by the wind. Chi Yan said: “Jiang Sui, I’m not that scary. Is Uncle Jiang in good health? I am thankful for his previous kindness, I will visit him another day.”
Jiang Sui was extremely embarrassed: “Fortunately, thank you, there is no need to visit, you are so busy.”
Chi Yan fell silent. After they were almost at the courtyard, he finally spoke: “If you need anything in the future, you can ask me for help. If you need it, I can do it.”
Jiang Sui was stunned. Chi Yan often said this when she was young, but she never took it seriously. The only time she took it seriously was when she used him as a shield for Chi Yiming, and the other party found out.
She was extremely embarrassed and angry when she thought about this. How could she dare to ask him for help?
Arriving at the gate of the compound, she hurriedly got out of the car.
Shui Yang couldn’t help laughing: “Boss, is she afraid of you?”
Chi Yan said: “Drive your car.”
Shui Yang really didn’t want to laugh, but even though Jiang Sui didn’t see it, he did. When the girl pressed her hand, the boss’ whole body stiffened, tighter than when he was hit by a bullet.
Shui Yang: “She didn’t even take an umbrella.”
Chi Yan glanced at the light green umbrella next to the seat and understood that Shui Yang was right, she was indeed a little afraid of him.
Chi Yan frowned and looked at the umbrella.
Shui Yang thought he felt it was too dirty, so he quickly said: “Don’t worry about it, I’ll have someone send it back later.”
Chi Yan’s eyes went dark and he said nothing.

[1] Hongmen was a banquet that took place in 206 BC. It’s a long story, and one that everyone in China knows, but the short version is a rebel leader called Xiang Yu tried to have his rival Liu Bang killed at a feast. Liu Bang escaped, however, and eventually defeated Xiang Yu in battle to become the first emperor of the Han Dynasty.
Now the phrase has come to mean a ruse intended to trap a guest. If a rival or someone you don’t like or trust invites you out to dinner, for example, you could joke, “Is this a Hongmen Banquet?”
