Yu Qiuping’s marriage was indeed set for before the New Year.

Yu Linlang had already informed her of this, so Yu Qiuping remained remarkably calm upon receiving the news.

With only half a month left until the end of the year, the Yu family busied themselves with preparations for their eldest daughter’s marriage.

Seeing that Yu Qiuping was no longer causing trouble, the old lady felt a surge of affection for her and specifically instructed that the purchasing should be of the highest quality, ensuring that the eldest daughter was not mistreated.

Although born out of wedlock, she was still the old lady’s first granddaughter, and she felt some pity for her.

Both Huo Shi and Yu Pianpian were quite surprised by this; they had expected Yu Qiuping to throw a tantrum, but nothing happened.

She seemed to have been stunned, calmly accepting her fate.

Yu Pianpian found this strange and even lowered herself to visit Yu Qiuping in the courtyard.

When she emerged from the west wing, Yu Pianpian wore a hint of anger on her face.

“Has this young lady gone mad? How could she be so rude to our young lady? Not only did she refuse her a cup of tea, but she also kicked her out after only a few words!” Qing Ju shouted from the courtyard. “She’s truly lost her mind.”

“My young lady came to visit out of kindness, and this is how she tretas her? What kind of sister is this? Does she think she’s about to marry into a higher social class and looks down on everyone else?”

Yu Pianpian was uneasy.

Although Yu Qiuping was just a pawn she could discard at any time, now that pawn had collapsed against her will.

Yu Pianpian felt as if everything was quietly slipping away from her control, giving her a terrible premonition.

She glanced at the east wing across the way, her eyes filled with gloom.

Qing Ju had been shouting in this small courtyard for so long, but the woman across the way hadn’t moved an inch, clearly not taking her seriously at all!

“Qing Ju,” Yu Pianpian called out with a deep gaze, “Go knock on the door.”

Qing Ju glanced at the east wing opposite, put her hands on her hips, and strode over angrily, banging on the door. “Miss Yu, is Miss Yu home? Miss Yu!”

The moment the door opened, a basin of water was splashed at her.

Qing Ju stumbled backward but still got water all over her face and head. She slipped and almost fell to the ground, her face turning blue.

“I wondered which scoundrel was yelling at the door. It’s just that shameless fake heiress, bringing her dog for a visit!” Jiu Jin leaned against the door, holding a basin of water, looking around with a half-smile.

“What? Do you want to fight or kill me? Draw a line, and I’ll oblige.” She even gave a slight curtsy, her expression extremely disrespectful.

Yu Pianpian’s face darkened, her heart pounding with anger, but she still had to maintain a faint smile on her face.

“What are you doing, Linlang? I just came here to find a couple of books for myself. Have you gone mad with all this shouting and threatening?”

Yu Linlang walked leisurely to the door. “What books are you looking for? Your father and mother aren’t here. There’s no need for you to pretend to be diligent. And you don’t need to strive for fame or fortune. You don’t need to put on airs in front of us.”

The disheveled maid Qing Ju was furious. “How dare you insult our young lady?”

“My young lady is just telling the truth. Her words may be harsh, but they are all true. What’s wrong with that?” Ba Liang walked over from the side, rolling his eyes. “What else does this fake young lady want to say? If you’re done, hurry up and leave. Our little temple can’t hold a Buddha like you.”

Qing Ju was so angry she felt like her chest was about to explode. These people kept calling her “fake young lady,” were they out of their minds, daring to belittle their young lady like this?

Yu Pianpian stared coldly at Yu Linlang and the others blocking the door. “I remember when you first returned, Mother told you that I didn’t have time to move all the books in the east wing, and you weren’t allowed to touch them. Do you not understand Mother’s words, or are you pretending not to know?”

“You’re trying to use the Huo Shi to pressure me? She doesn’t deserve it!” Yu Linlang smiled faintly, but her eyes were filled with frost.

“Ba Liang, fetch the books for the governor’s daughter, bring a few more.”

“Yes, miss.” Ba Liang immediately went into the room and came out with a stack of books.

Yu Pianpian was annoyed but didn’t show it on her face. “Linlang, do you really not understand what I’m saying? I said I want to go in and choose for myself!”

“Choose for yourself? My young lady is currently living in this room, and no one is allowed to enter without permission. If you want books, here are your books, stop talking nonsense!” Ba Liang picked up a book and threw it at Yu Pianpian’s head.

“Ah!” Yu Pianpian hadn’t expected the other party to be so barbaric and rude. She barely dodged one book before being hit on the head by another thick book that flew at her.

The hairpin on her head flew to the ground and shattered with a “crack”.

Yu Pianpian’s head was buzzing from the impact, and she didn’t understand what had happened for a moment.

However, the third, fourth, and fifth books flew one after another at her head, body, and face, terrifying the maid Qing Ju. She rushed over to protect her mistress, screaming repeatedly, “Help! Help! Miss Yu has gone mad! Where has everyone gone? Help! Come quickly and save my young lady, ah…”

“Bang!” A thick history book slammed into Qing Ju’s face, causing her to bleed from her mouth and nose, leaving her completely bewildered.

Yu Pianpian stared wide-eyed in terror.

This was the first time she had directly witnessed the fighting prowess of Yu Linlang’s fierce maid.

Although she had been present before, watching someone else be beaten was a completely different experience from being beaten herself.

Supported by Qing Ju, Yu Pianpian stumbled backward, retreating until she reached the stone table in the courtyard. Yu Pianpian’s hair was disheveled, and she nearly fainted.

“Go and complain quickly,” Yu Linlang said, her eyes icy as she stared at her. “Go complain to Huo Shi, and make sure they expel me from the clan as soon as possible.” Yu Pianpian was terrified by her chilling gaze and shrank behind Qing Ju, tugging hard at her sleeve.

The two, disheveled and terrified, fled towards the courtyard, only to be stopped at the gate by the ghostly figure of Jiu Jin.

“What? Didn’t you come to get the books? We gave them to you, but you won’t take them? Are you trying to make fun of my young lady?”

Yu Pianpian trembled like a leaf, pushing the maid away forcefully.

Qing Ju hurriedly ran back to pick up the books from the ground, dropping them as she went, drawing disdain from Ba Liang.

Finally managing to lift the stack of more than ten books, Qing Ju’s body trembled uncontrollably.

She staggered to the gate, and as soon as she and Yu Pianpian stepped out of the courtyard, they tripped and fell flat on their faces.

Yu Pianpian burst into tears, her voice trembling as she grabbed Qing Ju’s arm, “Find, find Mother, go find Mother now!”

“Second Miss, what happened to you?” Mama Hu, who had rushed over, was startled by the two women’s pitiful state.

“Mama, find Mother, I’m looking for Mother, where is Mother?”

Mama Hu’s heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively glanced towards the Yulan courtyard.

“Madam went to the gate. Some rude old hag is causing a scene at our gate, and she’s disturbed Madam.”

“Second Miss, perhaps you should go back to your room and freshen up?”

Mama Hu felt a chill run down her spine, sensing an impending storm…
