To improve the host’s mission completion rate, the system automatically initialized the host’s emotions when entering a new world.

Thus, You Xu’s feelings for Duan Min in this world were like a glass dome, yet the mere mention of his name still stirred her emotions.

You Xu lowered her eyelashes and pursed her lips.

The medicine she had previously applied to her face had long since worn off, and her skin had returned to its original smoothness. Shen Jue had been watching over her, seeing her eyelashes wet with tears, her voice as weak as a kitten’s as she called out Duan Min’s name.

For no apparent reason, a sharp, inexplicable pain shot through his heart, a feeling he had never experienced before.

And seeing her like this now, it was clear how much weight the name Duan Min held in her heart. Shen Jue looked down at her, silently tightening his grip on her wrist.

You Xu knew she had let something slip while delirious from her illness, but she didn’t know how to explain it.

Just then, she heard a faint sob. Looking up, she saw a white-haired doctor, tears streaming down his face, his voice trembling, “Thank goodness, you’re finally awake… If you hadn’t woken up, I would have been dead too.”

You Xu was about to thank the doctor and Shen Jue to change the subject when Shen Jue raised his hand, and a gust of wind sent the doctor and his medicine box flying. She vaguely heard the sound of the doctor hitting the wall.

Silence fell again, the atmosphere unsettling.

You Xu looked down and noticed the large red demonic markings at the end of his fox tail, like fire and flowers. She couldn’t resist the urge to touch it and asked, “When did you color your tail?” She remembered seeing him completely white in Medicine Spirit Valley last time. Then she thought, maybe foxes were just very vain, like girls getting manicures.

Seeing her eager expression, Shen Jue regained some of his energy and retracted his tail, saying calmly, “The unique demonic markings of the Heart-Eating Fox Clan.”

The powerful demon clans of this world possessed unique colors and markings, innate and a symbol of strength.

You Xu instantly understood. Last time, he had transformed into an ordinary fox demon to protect himself. After all, the hearts of Heart-Eating Foxes were coveted, and he had been seriously injured on someone else’s territory. It was always wise to be cautious, just like her long journey disguised as an old woman.

She wasn’t too bothered by the matter, but seeing the disappearing fox tail, she sighed with regret. Seeing that Shen Jue didn’t pursue the previous question further, she secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Shen Jue got out of bed and walked steadily outside, his expression completely indifferent, but he ordered his subordinates, “Whether human or demon, capture everyone named Duan Min, even those who have ever called themselves that before. Don’t let a single one escape.”

….

You Xu’s illness had been lingering for a long time, fluctuating between improvement and relapse. Several times she seemed to be getting better, only to worsen again the next day, her body returning to its previous frail state.

Shen Jue sent demons to search for edible things for her and used the dark fire of Black Rock Mountain to brew medicine and boil water for her to drink, but she continued to lose weight, her cheeks becoming sunken, and her wrists reduced to thin skin.

She was sickly, and sometimes her coughs made him shudder.

Tsk, how could a human’s body be so weak?

The demons serving on the rocky mountain clearly felt the king’s oppressive aura and saw his gloomy, unyielding face.

The demons thought to themselves: “It must be that the king wanted to eat her heart, but she fell ill, and the king became irritable because he lost his appetite.”

Shen Jue stared intently at the doctor before him and asked, “Why hasn’t she recovered yet, even though we did as you said?”

The doctor, his sparse white hair almost falling out from worry, replied, “It must be a problem with the feng shui of this place.”

Shen Jue asked coldly, “What problem?”

The doctor wiped away a cold sweat: “Black Rock Mountain is scorching hot during the day and bitterly cold at night. Smoldering embers and polluted air make it truly unsuitable for human habitation, let alone for those with weak constitutions to linger.”

The demons didn’t think much of it, but the old doctor himself was already feeling the strain. However, he dared not say anything. Who would dare tell the ruthless demon king, “This godforsaken place is unsuitable for human habitation”? Although he didn’t have many years left to live, he was willing to live as many years as he could. Who would complain about living too long? After the doctor finished speaking, he couldn’t help but shiver. He dared not look up at Shen Jue’s expression, feeling as if the air around him had frozen, and he suddenly felt that his life was about to end.

Unexpectedly, Shen Jue said, “Why didn’t you say so earlier?” His voice was icy and chilling, piercing to the bone, and the doctor trembled like a leaf. Shen Jue ignored him and summoned a tiger demon. The tiger demon clan was fierce and domineering, possessing powerful attacks and excelling in close combat. Other demons were terrified by Shen Jue and thus submitted to him, but the tiger demons had come to him willingly. Now, the demon race was fragmented, each ruling its own territory, the strong swallowing the weak, or the strong forming alliances, or the weak forming unions. The tiger demons had seen how well Shen Jue had slaughtered the Dianwei Prefecture and the bear demon clan and thus wanted to join him to make a name for themselves and achieve great things. Most importantly, Shen Jue was incredibly arrogant. He even gave advance notice of the massacre of the Demon Slayer’s Mansion and the demon race, specifying the time, place, and method— the unspoken message being, “You better prepare to face my wrath.” This ostentatious display pleased the tiger demon, but unfortunately, Shen Jue always acted alone, without any backup. They couldn’t join him for the spectacle, not even to watch.

Three months ago, Shen Jue issued a massacre notice to Qi Long Mansion, setting the date for today. Shen Jue summoned him here…could it be that he wanted him to come and assist? The tiger demon’s face lit up with joy, and he knelt, clasping his hands in a fist salute: “Your Majesty!” He couldn’t contain his excitement, hoping Shen Jue would immediately order the troops to attack Qi Long Mansion.

Shen Jue leaned back in his golden chair, lazily saying, “Give the order to demolish Black Rock Mountain.”

“Yes, Your Majesty!” The tiger demon hurriedly replied, leaping to his feet. He took a few steps before realizing, wait, what did His Majesty say again? “Isn’t it ‘Give the order to depart in two hours?'”

The tiger demon hesitated for a moment, then turned and knelt back down. “Your Majesty, what do you mean…?”

Black Rock Mountain was easy to defend and difficult to attack. Shen Jue had conquered it and destroyed the Black Mountain Demon, wasn’t it all for his own kingship? Why demolish it now? But he dared not question Shen Jue’s decision, so he could only ask, “What about the rocks all over the mountain?”

Shen Jue succinctly replied, “Reclaim them from the sea.”

“…Yes.”

….

Human creativity is strong, but the destructive power of demons is even greater. The demons, large and small, worked together, and in three days they moved Black Rock Mountain to reclaim the sea.

The large demon said, “Your Majesty ordered the construction of a palace.”

The small demon said, “Perhaps the palace will be more beautiful.”

But they all knew who Shen Jue was doing this for, but they couldn’t understand the king’s kindness towards the food. Food is meant to be eaten sooner or later, why should they care about the food’s feelings? Make the food be happily devoured by them? But whatever the food’s feelings are, it still tastes the same after eating. However they dared not ask any questions, burying themselves in their work, moving mountains and filling seas to build the palace. Meanwhile, in Qi Long Mansion, they waited and waited, but not a single demon appeared, and could only painfully await their slaughter under the scythe of death.

The lord of the manor waved his sleeve and scoffed, “I knew this kind of monster was untrustworthy.”

His subordinate weakly added, “Do you really want him to be trustworthy?”

The lord of the manor: “…Shut up.”

While You Xu was still delirious from her illness, but when she felt a little better, she found herself living in a luxurious palace with white jade floors, crystal lamps, and pearl curtains.

The outside world’s affairs and noises didn’t bother her, so her understanding of the situation was— from survival to development.

Shen Jue had previously lived in such a harsh environment, undoubtedly to consolidate his power, leaving him no energy for anything else. Now, with money, people, and ability, he had naturally embarked on the road to development, incidentally learning to enjoy life.

Thinking of this, You Xu understandingly grasped his hand: “You’ve worked hard; the ordeal is finally over.”

Shen Jue: “???”

The environment did indeed affect her recovery. Because the environment had improved, You Xu, after more than half a month of recuperation, was already able to get out of bed and walk.

Seeing her still weak and haggard appearance, Shen Jue was not satisfied and asked the doctor, “Why is this?”

The doctor was on the verge of tears, almost driven mad, “I don’t know either…”

“Alright, go down.” Shen Jue then summoned others up.

You Xu just slowly strolled out, holding a hand warmer and standing at the bottom of the steps.

Seeing that she looked like she was about to be blown away by the wind, Shen Jue got up and carried her to his chair, wrapping her tightly in a blanket.

You Xu touched the blanket; it was warm enough, but the feel was much worse, so she silently looked at Shen Jue.

Ignoring her pleading eyes, Shen Jue briefly explained You Xu’s condition to the people coming down the steps, then asked, “What do you think should be done?”

You Xu also looked at the person down the steps; that person had an ordinary face, hair tied in a high braid, and kept twisting and turning, as if boneless and unsteady.

The man asked, “How is the Queen’s appetite?”

You Xu: Wait, the Queen? When did she become the Queen?

Then she remembered that she was currently sitting on the King’s lap, and the King sitting on the throne was equivalent to her sitting on the throne. Okay, that makes sense.

Speaking of this, Shen Jue frowned slightly, clearly very dissatisfied: “She eats very little and is very picky.”

You Xu: Get this straight, the things you demons bring out are mostly inedible, and they’re cold, hard, and unpalatable.

“Your Majesty,” the man sighed softly, “fresh fruits and vegetables, fatty beef, chicken, and duck are much better for health and well-being.”

You Xu added at the opportune moment, “I think he makes sense.”

“Understood.” Shen Jue gestured for the man to leave.

You Xu then asked with slight doubt, “Is he a demon?” But he seemed quite knowledgeable about humans.

“They’re earthworm spirits. They usually hide in human farms and villages, and they understand humans quite well,” Shen Jue explained to her. “They prefer to stay in their original form; they feel awkward in human form.”

You Xu was amazed; earthworms becoming spirits— the world is full of wonders.

After You Xu went for her afternoon nap, Shen Jue summoned the bull demon.

The bull demon clan was diligent and pragmatic, not highly regarded among demons, but they were extremely loyal to Shen Jue and eager to repay his kindness in taking them in.

They had waited for over a year, finally getting the chance to be summoned by Shen Jue.

The bull demon thought, “The king must want to entrust me with a great task. No matter what, it must be very important. I am willing to sacrifice my life for the king, to give my all until my dying breath.”

Thinking of this, his blood boiled with excitement, and he almost collapsed to his knees.

Shen Jue didn’t even lift his eyelids: “Send someone to the north to plow the land there.”

The bull demon: “…………Huh?”

Shen Jue’s expression was indifferent: “Then plant vegetables and fruits and raise chickens and ducks.”

“……..”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

The author has something to say:

Shen Jue: “You said it was a story about a male protagonist destroying the world, how did it turn into a story about infrastructure building and farming?”

You Xu: “But I really like it.”

The next second, Shen Jue said: “Okay, I like it too.”
