The class monitors of all sixteen classes gathered together.

Zhang Zhongmin didn’t waste any words and came straight to the point: “I’m going back to City B.”

“What?” Liu Guo’an was the first to ask in surprise: “Class monitor, you’re going back? What will happen to our base in City D?”

The others also exchanged glances. The base was developing more and more normally. It was even preparing for expansion because it had opened a primary school curriculum and collected a lot of books, making sure that the children wouldn’t lose their knowledge when they grew up.

Knowledge was important, so in addition to physical training and combat skills, the children now also needed to learn math and Chinese, which were currently the only two subjects.

However, just when the base was thriving, Zhang Zhongmin was actually leaving.

This was like dropping a bomb into a calm lake!

“The base will be handed over to you from now on. Liu Guo’an will take over my position, and Qin Long will assist Liu Guo’an in taking over his current position,” Zhang Zhongmin said.

Currently, Zhang Zhongmin was in charge of the base’s affairs, with Liu Guo’an assisting him.

Zhang Zhongmin was not comfortable handing the base over to Qin Long, and he felt that the others were not suitable. However, while Liu Guo’an was suitable, he wasn’t likely to control certain unsavory characters.

After only a brief consideration, Zhang Zhongmin appointed Liu Guo’an to replace him, and Qin Long to replace Liu Guo’an.

Actually, for a long time, Zhang Zhongmin felt Qin Long was more suitable to take his place. But even now, Zhang Zhongmin hadn’t fully figured out Qin Long and didn’t dare to easily entrust the position to him.

After all, this involved the entire base, nearly ten thousand people.

This was no joke.

Qin Long heard his name called and looked up at Zhang Zhongmin. Their eyes met briefly before looking away.

Lu Xun looked at Qin Long, then at Liu Guo’an. He felt that once Zhang Zhongmin left, the base would gradually begin to change.

Everyone respected Zhang Zhongmin, but not Liu Guo’an.

Liu Guo’an couldn’t control everyone, even with Qin Long added. Qin Long’s assistance meant he couldn’t surpass Liu Guo’an; no matter how capable Qin Long was, he probably couldn’t help Liu Guo’an control the crowd. Lu Xun couldn’t believe Zhang Zhongmin hadn’t thought of this. But he still decided to leave.

Indeed, Zhang Zhongmin had originally decided not to leave until a suitable replacement was found. However, he hadn’t expected people from City B to come.

He had single-handedly led everyone to build the base into what it was now. He considered himself very responsible towards everyone; things weren’t like before, where a phone call could easily reach someone.

Although he couldn’t bear to leave the base, he couldn’t bear to leave his parents even more. It had been over a year since the apocalypse, and he hadn’t been back.

Even knowing his parents were safe, he still wanted to go back and see them. Only by seeing them safe and well could he feel at ease.

As for whether he could return, Zhang Zhongmin wasn’t sure.

For now, handing the base over to Liu Guo’an and having Qin Long assist seemed to be the best choice. After all, Qin Long was a peak fourth-tier lightning-type ability user.

Lightning-type abilities were far more offensive than other abilities; even against abilities of the same tier, lightning-type abilities had the upper hand.

Anyone with ulterior motives would have to consider their own combat strength before acting.

….

Lan Sheng, carrying a large pile of crystal cores in a tattered garment, hurriedly opened the door and saw Fu Ke sitting in a chair holding a child, while Lan Zhi stood beside her like a knight from a comic book.

However, this knight looked dishevelled, his clothes tattered and his skin deathly pale.

“Roar—” After turning into a zombie, Lan Zhi couldn’t control himself and let out a zombie roar. Seeing Lan Sheng enter, he unconsciously howled.

Lan Sheng, whether oblivious or not, wasn’t frightened at all.

Instead, he walked in happily: “I dug up a lot, Lan Zhi, see if it’s enough. If not, have something to eat first, and we’ll dig more for you when we kill the zombies later.”

Song Jing and the others: “…”

They were so startled and frightened that they didn’t know what to say, nor did they have the energy to say anything. They could only stare blankly as Lan Sheng handed the cleaned crystal cores to Lan Zhi.

Lan Zhi subconsciously glanced at Fu Ke.

Fu Ke patted the little girl’s head: “Why are you looking at me? Eat.”

Lan Zhi reached out and grabbed one of the crystal cores from Lan Sheng’s hand, but he was extra careful when taking it, afraid that his sharp nails would cut Lan Sheng’s hand.

Not to mention Lan Zhi, the group of people who were tied up were all on tenterhooks, afraid that Lan Zhi would suddenly become beastly and pounce on them.

Only Fu Ke and Lan Sheng remained calm.

Seeing that Lan Zhi had only taken the crystal core and hadn’t hurt Lan Sheng, Song Jing and the others breathed a sigh of relief, while Wei Yu, who witnessed this scene, looked at Lan Zhi curiously.

Lan Zhi threw the crystal core into her mouth and crunched it.

Hearing the crisp sound, Wei Yu couldn’t help but swallow his saliva; he was hungry. Watching Lan Zhi eat the crystal core, it looked delicious…

Lan Sheng took out a crystal core and gave it to Fu Ke: “You should have some too.”

Fu Ke looked at Lan Sheng in surprise: “Thanks.”

He took the crystal core and bit into it, then frowned.

The little girl looked at Fu Ke’s expression, then at Lan Zhi, and finally her gaze returned to Fu Ke: “Sister, is it not good?”

She licked her lips as she spoke.

Fu Ke had only given her one sausage, which wasn’t enough to satisfy her. However, she knew that her sister had already been very kind by giving her food, so she didn’t tell Fu Ke that she wasn’t full.

“No.” Fu Ke calmly chewed the crystal core and swallowed it, the overwhelming fishy taste making her want to vomit.

So awful… how could it have turned out like this?

She was starving, but this crystal core was… utterly inedible for Fu Ke. She tried eating another crystal core, with the same result.

However, after swallowing one, that familiar feeling returned.

Fu Ke suppressed the surging heat and put the little girl aside: “Be good, wait for me here.”

“Where is sister going?” The little girl anxiously clung to Fu Ke’s hand.

“Be good, sister will be back soon.” With that, Fu Ke vanished.

The little girl stood there, stunned. Song Fei and Song Jing stared wide-eyed.

Liu Qi stared in astonishment at the spot where Fu Ke had just been: “Gone, vanished!”

Lan Sheng was also stunned. He looked at Lan Zhi, whose blood-red eyes flickered, and she didn’t put the crystal core in her hand into her mouth for a long time. Vanished into thin air, as if Fu Ke’s presence had been a hallucination.

If Song Jing and the others hadn’t been tied up, if Lan Zhi hadn’t been standing there, and if there hadn’t been a little girl present, they would have truly thought it was all an illusion.

The space recovered quickly, though not as vibrant as before, it was basically back to normal.

She had successfully advanced to the fourteenth rank.

When Fu Ke opened her eyes, the spatial vortex opened. She threw a crystal core she had been holding into the black hole, and a crystal-clear core quickly emerged.

Digging a hole in the soil, Fu Ke placed the crystal core inside and observed it with her spiritual power.

The buried core frantically absorbed the space’s energy, at a speed that caused the space to tremble. The space began to devour gold, but soon, green sprouts emerged from the core. Once the sprouts appeared, its energy absorption slowed down.

The space also stopped trembling, and the absorption rate was within its tolerance range.

Fu Ke thoughtfully looked at the sprout on the core; the sprout hadn’t yet broken through the soil. She wondered what it would grow into. She had a sudden feeling during her advancement— that the crystal core with the black dot absorbed by the space could be planted within the space.

So, after successfully advancing, Fu Ke decided to give it a try. However, she didn’t know what she would grow.

But, they say you reap what you sow, so could it be a crystal core?

Seeing that the sprout hadn’t broken through the soil, Fu Ke left her spatial dimension. From the outside, it seemed like Fu Ke had only disappeared for a few minutes before reappearing out of thin air.

Wei Yu looked at Fu Ke with sparkling eyes: “Spatial dimension? You have a spatial dimension, right?”

Fu Ke glanced at him: “So what if I do? So what if I don’t?”

Holding the little girl, she suddenly looked down at her: “What’s your name?” She still didn’t know the little girl’s name.

“My name is Ya Ya,” the little girl said.

Fu Ke took out instant noodles and a stainless steel bowl from her spatial dimension.

After putting water in the stainless steel bowl, she held it in her hand, and a flame suddenly appeared. Seeing the flame suddenly appear in Fu Ke’s hand, Lan Zhi couldn’t help but take several steps back.

Zombies were naturally afraid of fire.

“A… ability?” Song Fei exclaimed in astonishment, “Zombies actually have abilities!”

Fu Ke ignored him and poured the instant noodles into the boiling water. The aroma was irresistible, and Ya Ya’s eyes widened, swallowing hard.

Fu Ke smiled and said, “Alright, you can eat in a bit.”

She put Ya Ya down, but something felt off. The aroma of the instant noodles made her even hungrier. She looked at the crystal core and remembered the taste from before.

She didn’t want to eat anymore.

“How are you feeling?” When Fu Ke came out, Lan Zhi had already eaten quite a few crystal cores in just a few minutes. Even so, Lan Zhi still had a crystal core in his hand.

“Roar—”

Lan Sheng heard Lan Zhi roar and quickly looked at Fu Ke: “What did he say?”

Although he was also shocked that Fu Ke possessed both water and fire elemental abilities and was a zombie king, he was more concerned about what his brother had said.

He couldn’t understand the zombie language and could only ask Fu Ke, the zombie king.

“He said he’s full,” Fu Ke said to Lan Sheng.

Lan Sheng breathed a sigh of relief: “It’s good that you’re full, it’s good that you’re full. Fu Ke, you eat too, don’t go hungry.”

Song Jing: “…”

The others: “…”

Someone telling a zombie to eat quickly and not go hungry. The sense of conflict in this scene was really strong.

But after watching for so long, Song Jing and the others vaguely felt it. So Lan Zhi and Fu Ke didn’t intend to eat them, nor did they use them as reserve food.

Instead… they were deliberately scaring them?

Suddenly, the expressions of the group became subtle.

The instant noodles were ready, and Fu Ke gave the chopsticks to Ya Ya so she could eat by herself. The stainless steel bowl was no longer hot, and Ya Ya carefully touched the bowl and slurped her noodles.

She ate very slowly, taking a bite of noodles and a sip of soup.

Not to mention the nine people who were tied up, even Lan Sheng was attracted by the sound and movement of Ya Ya eating instant noodles.

Fu Ke found the sound even more torturous; she was hungrier than any of them. However, she didn’t want to eat the crystal core at all. However, since Lan Sheng had given it to her, Fu Ke accepted it without hesitation.

Maybe after the space absorbed the black speck, it wouldn’t taste so bad.
