Fu Ke looked at Lan Sheng with amusement. This seemingly cold and hard man was so verbose.
He couldn’t help but roll his eyes: “I said I would rescue everyone inside safely.”
But those were zombies. You could lure them here. Could you completely drive them away? Lan Sheng was internally trembling with fear.
At this moment, the zombie horde was almost at the entrance of the abandoned factory, and the people inside were preparing to throw explosives.
They were using a tool that looked somewhat like a catapult. Fu Ke narrowed her eyes.
As they lit the explosive charge and prepared to throw it out, the charge suddenly moved and fell directly from above.
“Get down!”
A group of people immediately threw themselves to the side, but many were still blown to pieces.
Everyone was still in shock.
The deafening explosion temporarily deafened those who were closer and not so seriously injured. A man not far away roared with a dark face, “How did you place the explosives? Didn’t you see they weren’t placed properly?”
Fu Ke curled her lips into a smile. They had placed them properly, but… She only tampered with it a little.
“…” Song Jing looked towards the abandoned factory: “Are these people scared out of their wits by the zombie horde? Are they blowing themselves up?”
Fu Ke smiled but remained silent.
The abandoned factory’s gate was an iron gate, and zombies kept surging in, making the iron gate sway precariously.
Fu Ke controlled the zombies, and as they squeezed in, they grabbed the iron gate and started climbing up.
The people inside turned pale instantly, staring in horror at the zombies that had actually managed to climb in!
“What are you all standing there for? Throw grenades! Where’s the explosives? Are you all just standing there waiting to die?” the man roared angrily, as zombies began to climb in one by one.
The man froze, watching helplessly as someone was pounced on by a zombie, letting out a pitiful scream.
Hearing the sounds outside— explosions, screams, and the roars of zombies— the bearded man called the boss frowned and opened the door. His face darkened upon seeing the chaotic scene outside.
He hadn’t expected that with so many heavy weapons, he’d still face this situation.
He drew his gun and aimed at the zombie’s head.
Fu Ke saw the bearded man; a slight smile played on her lips. The zombie the bearded man was aiming at was a level three zombie, and Fu Ke skilfully controlled it, dodging the bullets.
“Roar—” The controlled zombie let out an angry howl and pounced.
Seeing that there was no time to fire a second shot, the bearded man immediately threw down his gun and began fighting the zombie bare-handed. But this wasn’t a level one or level two zombie.
Level three zombies were fast and stronger than level one or two.
The bearded man reacted quickly; as the zombie’s claws lunged, he swiftly dodged to the side and grabbed the zombie’s claws. Unfortunately, he underestimated the zombie’s strength.
As he twisted the zombie’s arm, the zombie remained unmoved, opened its mouth, and viciously bit down.
The bearded man was startled and released the zombie, rolling on the ground to avoid it. His suit jacket was too cumbersome, so he didn’t hesitate to take it off.
Fu Ke was somewhat surprised; this bearded man didn’t have any special abilities, but he was actually quite capable. It was known that third-tier zombies were fast and strong, though they lacked intelligence.
But now, they were under Fu Ke’s control!
“Roar—” Although the third-tier zombie was under Fu Ke’s control, it still relied heavily on its own instincts. Its prey had escaped, causing it to roar angrily.
Fu Ke ignored everything else, focusing solely on controlling the third-tier zombie and fighting the bearded man.
She had never intended to use zombies to harm humans, even though she was now the undisputed Zombie Queen. Unfortunately… she felt that these people were all insane and not human at all.
Someone lit the explosives. This time, without Fu Ke’s interference, it went quite smoothly, but the zombies had already entered the abandoned factory. The explosives were quite powerful; while killing the zombies, many people would also be injured.
Before long, not many zombies had been eliminated, and their own men were already falling.
The bearded man’s entire focus was on the third-tier zombie in front of him; he couldn’t defeat it, nor could he shake it off. It seemed to be locked in a battle with him.
He gasped for breath, and when he saw the situation outside, he felt dizzy: “A bunch of useless trash!”
The bearded man’s weakness was his stamina; after all, zombies don’t know fatigue and are incredibly strong. Even if the bearded man was powerful, without superpowers or weapons, he was completely helpless against a third-tier zombie.
Outside the abandoned factory, Wei Yu heard the screams and roars of zombies mingling inside. As the youngest member of the team, he felt a pang of pity.
“Sister Jing, should we go help? Isn’t this going a bit too far?” Wei Yu tugged at Song Jing’s clothes, his face full of reluctance.
Not just Wei Yu, everyone else also found the sounds chilling.
However, upon hearing Wei Yu’s words, Fu Ke turned around and looked at the team members, their eyes showing a slight unease. Seeing such a large group of zombies, the few of them going to help wouldn’t be of much use.
Lan Sheng had heard Fu Ke say that Lan Zhi had turned into a zombie, and he vaguely guessed what they were doing inside.
His face turned cold: “Excessive? Help? They’re a bunch of beasts! Do you know what they’re doing capturing zombies and people inside?”
Lan Sheng’s tone was harsh, startling Wei Yu, who quickly shrank back: “Yes, I’m sorry.”
They had observed for so long and knew they were definitely conducting some kind of experiment, capturing zombies from the outside and also taking people in. They possessed a lot of heavy weapons.
But what exactly they were doing inside, none of them knew.
“Lan Sheng, you scared Wei Yu. He’s still a child.” Song Fei stood in front of Wei Yu, somewhat displeased with Lan Sheng’s tone.
Lan Sheng looked at Song Fei and took a deep breath: “Sorry, I got too excited.”
“Lan Sheng, do you know what kind of experiment they’re conducting?” Song Jing asked, noticing Lan Sheng’s unusual reaction.
“You’ll find out soon enough, but before that, you’d better be mentally prepared.” Fu Ke glanced at them. Of the many labs in the research institute, aside from Lan Zhi’s lab, the others were even more gruesome.
The alarm in the lab blared.
The old researcher was analyzing Lan Zhi’s blood when the piercing alarm startled him, causing the test tube to shatter on the floor.
His face instantly turned terrifyingly grim.
He opened the door and said to his assistant, “Go out and see what happened.”
The assistant had vaguely heard explosions, but since the alarm hadn’t gone off, he hadn’t paid attention. The research institute was very soundproof; the screams outside hadn’t reached them.
However, he hadn’t expected to see such a hellish scene upon opening the door.
“Roar—” A zombie pounced as soon as the door opened.
“Ah!” The assistant turned pale with fright. He didn’t have the agility of the bearded man and was immediately pounced on by the zombie. The long fangs pierced his flesh, tearing off a large chunk instantly. After a pitiful scream, the assistant fainted.
Before Fu Ke could react, the door to the research institute opened. She looked inside. Most of the people outside were dead.
Instantly, a powerful aura erupted from her.
The zombies that were about to enter the institute stopped, and then all of them receded like a tide.
Fu Ke could now control her mental power very well, so the ten people around her didn’t feel any discomfort, only vaguely sensing that Fu Ke’s aura had become stronger.
But they didn’t feel the kind of suppressed, suffocating feeling.
Liu Qi saw the zombies slowly retreating in all directions and stared wide-eyed in shock: “Th-th-those zombies. They…”
Lan Sheng looked at Fu Ke subconsciously, his mind reeling: “How did you do that?”
Fu Ke smiled, seeing her smile, Lan Sheng’s face flushed red. Fu Ke had already said it was a secret. Yet he had asked again.
“Sorry, I was just too shocked,” Lan Sheng said embarrassedly.
In just over ten minutes, the zombies had completely disappeared.
Fu Ke’s lips curled slightly: “Alright, now it’s your turn. Those still alive inside will soon turn into zombies, so don’t hesitate to finish them off.”
“Also, capture all the researchers in the lab alive,” Fu Ke said calmly.
“Yes!” everyone replied excitedly, instinctively obeying Fu Ke’s orders.
Song Fei and Song Jing led their group down the hillside. Lan Sheng looked at Fu Ke: “Aren’t you going?”
Fu Ke smiled, her eyes crinkling. She straightened her skirt, sat down on the ground, and tilted her head, saying, “I’m not going. I’ll wait for you here. I trust you can handle it.”
Once everyone was far away, Lan Sheng’s lips twitched slightly: “Lan Zhi, has he really become a zombie?”
Fu Ke looked at him curiously: “If I said yes, would you kill him?”
Lan Sheng closed his eyes in pain. “I will find him. If he really has become a zombie, I will.”
“What if, although he has become a zombie, he still retains his sanity?”
A subtle voice came from beside him, and Lan Sheng suddenly opened his eyes. He looked at Fu Ke in disbelief: “How is that possible! After becoming a zombie, you’re a living dead! How could he still have memories? How could he!”
“Who said that becoming a zombie means death?” Fu Ke smiled slightly: “How do you know that zombies don’t have memories and can’t maintain their sanity?”
Lan Sheng was stunned, staring at Fu Ke.
Fu Ke then stood up and, in front of Lan Sheng, removed her contact lenses.
The bloodshot eyes startled Lan Sheng, who stumbled back several steps in shock. Fortunately, Song Jing and the others had already run into the abandoned factory in their excitement, completely forgetting that Lan Sheng hadn’t followed, so they didn’t see anything.
“You…” Lan Sheng seemed speechless for a moment, staring at Fu Ke in shock.
“Weren’t you curious why I could summon such a large group of zombies, and why I could control them to leave?” Fu Ke, seeing Lan Sheng’s disbelief, pointed to his eyes: “Here, this is the answer.”
“You, you’re actually a zombie!” Lan Sheng felt as if the world had turned upside down, even with Fu Ke’s answer, he still couldn’t believe it.
“To be precise, you should call me—the Zombie King,” Fu Ke said, squinting.
Since 666, Fu Ke had clearly realized that, no matter where you are, the strong are respected.
And she was the undisputed strongest one in this world, whether human or zombie. She had nothing to hide; if she wanted to be happy, why be so cautious and troublesome?
After removing her contact lenses, she threw them away. She no longer needed them.
Lan Sheng was stunned by the information Fu Ke revealed, but he couldn’t accept it; he didn’t attack Fu Ke.
Whether he thought Fu Ke was too powerful and he was no match for her, or he didn’t think Fu Ke was a zombie, whatever the reason, he didn’t lay a hand on her.
“Lan Zhi… is he like you?” Lan Sheng asked.
“No, he’s gradually losing his speech, but believe me. He has memories, he’s conscious, not one of those mindless zombies.” Fu Ke paused: “That’s your brother. Whether you keep him or kill him is up to you.”
His mental power detected the situation inside the abandoned factory: “You should go quickly, they’ll find Lan Zhi soon.”
Lan Sheng froze, afraid they would kill Lan Zhi when he heard Fu Ke say they were close. He turned and ran quickly into the abandoned factory.
Fu Ke saw his hurried back and couldn’t help but smile.
After her rebirth, she had misjudged the situation.
