In terms of status, Jing Yuan was Xiu Lingfei’s fourth son, but to Jiang Shining, he was her eldest son. Moreover, he was her first child in the five worlds.

When she died in the palace intrigue world, Jing Yuan seemed to be around this age— maybe even a little younger.

It seemed that Jing Yuan’s temperament and personality had changed a lot. Back then, when he was about to ascend the throne, he couldn’t hide his sharp aura, but now he had become much more composed.

Jiang Shining knew how much suffering he had endured and how much blame he had suffered back then. A young boy without his father’s favor faced immense difficulties every step of the way in the harem. It was already difficult enough for him to grow up, let alone achieve such success.

Jiang Shining felt sorry for him, so she couldn’t help but sigh, he had finally grown up.

As she was feeling sentimental, she felt a warmth on the back of her hand. Jing Yuan, across the table, held her hand with his long, slender fingers.

“It’s all in the past, Mother,” Jing Yuan said in a deep voice. “I’m back, and I will never leave again.”

Jiang Shining reached out and gently stroked his hair.

“My son, you’ve worked so hard,” she murmured.

The two people beside Jing Xuan were breathing deeply.

“It’s okay, I’m not tired,” he said with a hint of bitterness.

Jiang Shining was taken aback, but Chu Jingyuan laughed.

“Well, how have you been doing this life, lad?” Jing Yuan said. “I have a lot to say to you. Why don’t I come stay with you for a few days?”

“You’re quite the outsider,” Jing Xuan said with a smile. “You can come, but I have one condition.”

“What?”

“You’re in charge of cooking.”

Jiang Shining asked in confusion, “Don’t you have a nanny?”

“I’d rather fire all the nannies just to have him cook.” Jing Xuan looked at Jing Yuan, raising his eyebrows. “So, are you coming or not?”

Jing Yuan laughed. When he laughed genuinely, it was like sunshine breaking through the gloom, and he finally looked somewhat like Jing Xuan.

“Come here,” he said.

Jiang Shining gazed at the two brothers, Jing Yuan and Jing Xuan, feeling a warmth and contentment in her heart.

At that moment, she thought that as long as they were all by her side, nothing else mattered.

….

Meanwhile, in City S.

S City was a renowned university city, with its twelve universities nurturing countless outstanding students.

In one of the best comprehensive universities, the sound of teachers lecturing accompanied by the warm morning sunlight created an atmosphere of boundless comfort.

In the elevator lobby on the 7th floor of the main teaching building, two female lecturers who had just finished their classes were standing by the window, chatting and laughing quietly.

Just then, a male lecturer came over from the classroom.

“Your cool and handsome guy has finished class and is explaining a problem to the students. He’ll be here in about five minutes,” he laughed. “Hey, which of you two do you think will succeed? That way, my act of keeping watch for you won’t have been in vain.”

“That’s a bit difficult. Didn’t you see how the master was so indifferent when he even met the dean?” One of the young female teachers took out a small mirror to touch up her makeup. “Hey, darling, don’t you think my eyebrows look great today?”

“Pretty good,” another female teacher said. “May I borrow your mirror? I want to see if my eye makeup has smudged.”

The two were checking their makeup when they heard the sound of leather shoes clicking on the marble floor of the corridor. The sound was unhurried and composed.

Ten seconds later, a man entered the elevator. He was tall and imposing, wearing a dark trench coat and carrying a briefcase. His phoenix eyes were slightly upturned at the corners, and his pupils were a slightly indifferent dark gray. Gold-rimmed glasses perched on his high, straight nose. He was impeccably clean from head to toe, exuding a naturally aloof and ascetic aura.

The two female teachers gasped, then tried to put on natural smiles.

“Professor Qiao, what a coincidence, you just finished class too?”

When those indifferent phoenix eyes looked over, it felt like their hearts were about to leap out of their chests.

Qiao Huaize nodded slightly.

“Lecturer Wang, Lecturer Chen.”

A polite distance.

The three entered the elevator. Qiao Huaize stared straight ahead without glancing to the side, letting the two women secretly observe him.

Qiao Huaize’s nickname was “The Aloof Immortal,” and he truly lived up to his name. He was aloof, cold, and ethereal. He was like the mist on a high mountain, both distant and untouchable, and it seemed that wherever he appeared, a cold wind blew, carrying a sense of serene desolation.

As they rode the elevator, the two young teachers felt as if they had turned on a humidifier, with wisps of mist rising from it.

The first brave person started the conversation with her courage.

“Teacher Qiao, what are your hobbies at home?”

“I have no hobbies.”

That concludes the discussion.

“Professor Qiao, what’s your favorite variety show?”

“Sorry, I never watch TV or use a computer.”

Conversation terminator Qiao Huaize raised his wrist to check the time; he was rushing to the other side of the city to teach children.

The elevator doors opened on the basement level, and Qiao Huaize stepped out. He took out his car keys from his pocket, and a black sedan nearby honked its horn.

“Professor Qiao!”

Just as he was about to open the car door, Teacher Chen, who had been following behind him, suddenly stepped in front of him and blocked his way.

The woman took a deep breath and then said, “Professor Qiao, I like you.”

Qiao Huaize didn’t even lift his eyelids, remaining as indifferent as ever.

“I am grateful for your kindness, but I would prefer to dedicate my limited time to teaching. Thank you.”

After speaking, he was about to step forward, but Ms. Chen didn’t move aside. Instead she grabbed Qiao Huaize’s wrist, her eyes welling up with tears, “Professor Qiao—”

Qiao Huaize stopped. He slowly lowered his head and looked at the woman. With tears in her eyes, Teacher Chen was horrified to find that although the man remained indifferent and distant, his deep gray eyes made her heart tremble when they looked at her.

Even at such close range, she seemed to be invisible to the man. Or rather, everything in the world seemed to be invisible to him.

This sense of distance and intense pressure even made Teacher Chen a little afraid.

Qiao Huaize reached out, grasped the woman’s wrist, and slowly pulled her away.

He then spoke coldly:

“Teacher Chen, please have some self-respect.”

The author has something to say:

I’ll just show off the Sword Saint a bit, then put him back (?). The main storyline is still focused on the Jing Yuan and Jing Xuan brothers~
