The skinny guy’s eyes darted around. “Brother Long, he’s been gone for several days. I wonder if something’s happened to him. Should we go look for him?”

“Brother Long?” Lin Jing looked at the man standing at the entrance of the Exclusive Restaurant in surprise.

Qin Long turned around and saw the members of Team 1, Class 5.

“It really is you! Brother Long, you actually came back! Do you know that we couldn’t find you after you left? We thought you weren’t coming back! Where’s Du Weiwei? You didn’t bring her back, did you?” Lin Jing despised Du Weiwei from the bottom of his heart.

“Lin Jing!” Jian Yilun shouted coldly.

“Huh? What’s wrong, Captain?” Lin Jing trembled when he heard Jian Yilun’s icy voice.

“Go back, stop with the nonsense.” With that, he left with his men. Mo Zaiting looked at Qin Long and then followed silently with about ten people behind Jian Yilun.

“I…” Lin Jing was stunned, looking at Qin Long: “Brother Long, I’m leaving too…”

He was about to follow when Qin Long grabbed him: “Where’s Fu Ke?”

Lin Jing shook his head: “I don’t know either, I heard she went out on business. I thought she went to find you at first. I’m not saying anything, Brother Long, but you’re too hurtful. No matter if you’re leaving or what, you should at least say goodbye to everyone.”

He couldn’t help but complain: “You went out alone with Du Weiwei, everyone was worried, okay? Don’t be fooled by the captain’s cold demeanor just now, when you left…”

“Lin Jing!” Jian Yilun shouted from not far away with a dark face: “Return to the team!”

“Yes!” Lin Jing almost went weak in the knees from the stare, shook off Qin Long’s hand, and hurriedly ran over.

Along the way, the skinny guy had roughly learned about Qin Long’s situation recently. He touched his nose: “Brother Long, it seems your teammates have quite a temper.”

Qin Long didn’t say anything.

The skinny guy thought for a moment, “But if I were them, I’d be just as angry as they are. Why don’t you go apologize?”

“I didn’t say anything because I was thinking of sending Du Weiwei away and then coming back.” Qin Long’s tone was a little low.

The skinny guy rolled his eyes, “How would anyone know if you didn’t tell them?”

“…” Qin Long looked at the skinny guy.

“That guy named Lin Jing is a bit oblivious. Brother Long, do you want to go ask Lin Jing?” The skinny guy was very curious about Fu Ke, but he wanted to find Xiao Bai even more.

Xiao Bai couldn’t possibly have been killed by him.

At worst, he could just stop killing female zombies. Until he found Xiao Bai.

“Ask what?” Qin Long looked at the skinny guy, “He doesn’t know where Fu Ke went either.”

“…” The skinny guy suddenly felt that he had been so blind to admire Brother Long before.

“Let’s go.” Qin Long walked towards the D City base.

“Hey, wait! Brother Long, aren’t you going to find that Fu Ke?” He wanted to look for Xiao Bai while he was looking for someone! Well, actually, his main purpose was to find Xiao Bai.

Since he’s been reborn, why not let Brother Long be reborn with him? The skinny man felt a pang of heartache.

“She’ll come back,” Qin Long said confidently.

The skinny man, unwilling to give up, said, “What if she encounters danger? Brother Long, we should at least go out and look for her. Maybe we can find her?”

“Do you know which direction she went? Where she went?” Qin Long stopped, his sharp eyes fixed on the skinny man, seemingly calm yet filled with a chilling intent.

The skinny man’s heart skipped a beat, and he immediately shut his mouth, daring not to speak again.

In the past few days, he had gradually forgotten what kind of person Brother Long was. Whether reborn or not, Brother Long was still Brother Long.

“Wherever you want to go, I won’t stop you, Skinny.” After saying this, Qin Long strode towards the base.

The skinny man froze, feeling somewhat guilty. Had Brother Long noticed something? He didn’t dare say anything more and followed a few steps: “Sorry, Brother Long.”

“People change, but don’t try anything with me. We’re still brothers.” Qin Long saw the skinny guy following: “You need to cooperate with the inspection to enter the base.”

“Oh…” As soon as Qin Long’s imposing aura rose, the skinny guy deflated like a punctured balloon.

He didn’t have any designs on Brother Long; he just wanted Brother Long to go with him to find Xiao Bai. But now Brother Long had no memories of his past life and knew nothing.

The skinny guy cooperated with the inspection in a daze, and then, while filling out the forms, he explained his special abilities: spatial abilities and the wood-type ability he had unexpectedly awakened after being reborn in this life.

….

City A.

Fu Ke had just plundered a gold shop, and the huge vortex in her space had finally subsided, and the soil had returned to normal. Unfortunately, the places where the plants had been scorched to death were still pitted and uneven.

Only a few places remained lush and green.

Fu Ke threw some seeds into his space, and the space automatically sorted and planted them. Now that the space had returned to normal, the seeds sprouted immediately after being planted.

With a slight twitch of her ears, Fu Ke released her mental energy. She didn’t habitually project her mental energy outwards constantly; she only released it when she sensed something.

A large truck approached from afar, with a woman bound to the back. She ran alongside the truck, panting heavily, her face obscured by black soot.

Laughter, both male and female, came from inside the truck.

Fu Ke frowned. In the apocalypse, human survival was already difficult enough. Why would anyone want to degrade their own kind? However, she wasn’t the same person she had been in her past life, and she didn’t want to meddle in this.

The space was almost repaired, and a considerable amount of gold remained. A single phoenix had cost several tons of gold, leaving Fu Ke feeling deeply distressed.

The woman couldn’t run anymore and collapsed to the ground. The truck didn’t stop, dragging her along.

Her clothes were torn, her skin ripped raw. The woman didn’t even have the strength to scream; blood left a long trail on the ground.

One zombie after another followed.

Fu Ke was about to leave when she stopped at the door, frowning. Were they deliberately using people to attract zombies? What were they trying to do?

At that moment, a zombie broke out from the horde and pounced on the woman tied to the back of the truck with incredible speed.

“They’re here!” someone shouted from inside the truck.

At that moment, several strong men jumped onto the roof of the truck.

The rope binding the woman seemed to be pulled swiftly towards the truck, and the zombie gripped her tightly, its blood-red mouth biting down hard on her face.

The woman was no longer moving; it was unclear whether she had fainted or was already dead.

The zombie and the woman were dragged directly into the truck bed. The moment they entered, a thick iron door slammed shut.

“That’s it!”

Why were they catching a zombie?

That zombie was fast and strong. Fu Ke recognized it at a glance as a level three zombie. That was incredibly stupid of them; they got caught just like that.

This was why a level 3 zombie was so easily captured; a level 4 zombie wouldn’t have been so easy to catch. Although level 5 zombies only regained their senses, level 4 zombies already possessed a basic capacity for thought.

They could distinguish traps and dangers; a level 4 zombie wouldn’t have fallen for that clumsy trap just now.

Fu Ke followed slowly behind the truck, genuinely curious about what these people wanted with a zombie. If they wanted the crystal core, they could have just killed it.

But there was a small cage inside the truck, and the zombie, after being dragged in, was locked inside. Clearly, they weren’t planning to kill it.

The stupid zombie was still viciously gnawing at the woman, completely unaware that it had been captured.

“So stupid,” Fu Ke said disdainfully.

The truck drove to an abandoned factory, surrounded by high walls with only two large gates. There were guards at both gates, indicating that this was likely a base in City A. The truck stopped at the gate, the person in the driver’s seat stuck their head out and said a few words, the gate slowly opened, and the truck drove straight in.

At this moment, a group of people carrying heavy machine guns emerged, and the zombies that followed were quickly wiped out.

Fu Ke crouched on a tree. This didn’t seem like a base…

The people here were different from those at the D City base, and also different from those at the Chaoyang base in her previous life. Besides being heavily guarded and carrying heavy weapons, everyone else was dressed in white.

Those in white were in a laboratory in the abandoned factory, which seemed to have been modified. It looked rather strange. There were all sorts of test tubes and strange things inside that Fu Ke didn’t recognize. However, besides zombies, there were also humans tied to the beds and locked in cages!

What Fu Ke couldn’t accept was that there were quite a few children among them.

Her face turned quite grim. She could ignore the adults, but these were still children! Even though Fu Ke didn’t understand anything, she could tell that these people were conducting experiments.

Not just on zombies, but also on humans.

Those locked inside included ordinary people, the elderly, women, children, and even people with superpowers. The cages were all equipped with electric fences. So these people had no way to escape.

Fu Ke’s pupils faintly glowed with a bloodshot hue, even her contact lenses couldn’t conceal their color.

She glanced around the abandoned factory; besides Fu Ke, there were quite a few other people observing. Someone spotted Fu Ke and cautiously approached.

This person meant no harm, and Fu Ke remained unmoved, as if she hadn’t noticed him.

“It’s not safe here, leave quickly.” The deep voice was incredibly pleasant; though it was just a soft whisper, it sounded like a lover’s murmur, making one’s heart flutter.

Fu Ke looked up at the man; he was expressionless, his eyes warily fixed on the abandoned factory.

The camouflage uniform surprised Fu Ke: “Are you a soldier?”

The man shook his head: “Wearing camouflage doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a soldier. It’s dangerous here, go back quickly.”

She sensed no supernatural power emanating from the man; he was just an ordinary person. Fu Ke looked at him: “You want to save the people inside?”

The man nodded: “These people were an underground organization before the apocalypse, and they’ve become even more rampant afterward. There are also a few ruthless researchers inside who are colluding with them.”

“I’ll help you.” Fu Ke smiled at him.

The man paused, his dark eyes looking at Fu Ke suspiciously: “How will you help me?”

“How about a zombie siege?” Fu Ke winked mischievously.
