Yu Linlang took Jiu Jin’s hand and stepped out of the carriage again, staring at the person lying in front of the carriage with an inexplicable look.

To be precise, it should be a corpse with its abdomen emptied out, lying in front of the carriage in a straight and steady manner.

The curious onlookers all covered their mouths and vomited.

The corpse was so horrible that it made people shudder.

Yu Linlang raised her head and glanced at the three-story building opposite, frowning and looking at the square face of the corpse.

Yu Shoudao came quickly with a group of people after hearing the sound. When he saw the corpse lying on the ground, he almost fell to the ground with tears streaming down his face.

What is going on?

Just as the Prince of Xuanping and the Chief of Criminal Justice from the capital arrived, two murders broke out in succession on the streets of Weizhou Prefecture.

“What’s the matter? Let me take a look.” Mu Feng pushed aside the guards in front of him and hurried over to take a look.

He then quickly retreated, holding his chest with one hand, his expression changing several times.

The guards were quick-witted and quickly took out a jade bucket from the carriage and handed it to their young master to vomit.

Jiu Jin glanced at him, her little eyes full of contempt.

Mu Zhao had no choice but to order the guards to help his brother to the side and take care of him, while he himself followed the bitter-faced Yu Shoudao to check.

Soon, Yu Shoudao also retreated to the back to vomit…

Beside the corpse, only Prince Mu Zhao and Lord Lu, the Chief of the Criminal Court, stood there calmly and talked in low voices.

Yu Shoudao wanted to warn Prince Mu Zhao and Lord Lu not to get so close to the strange corpse, but as soon as he opened his mouth, he retched and vomited all over the place.

“Greetings, Prince, sir.”

The coroner, Old Li, was a skinny old man with a slight limp in his left leg. He walked a little slowly because he had a slight limp.

Lu Qian turned to look at him and nodded. “Old Li, first conduct a preliminary examination of the body, then send it to the Governor’s Office for a thorough re-examination.”

“Yes.”

Because it was a preliminary examination, and they were on the street, Old Li didn’t burn the atractylodes[1]. Instead, he took a pair of work gloves and slowly squatted over the body to examine it.

Several yamen runners were questioning onlookers, but almost everyone was vomiting, so the seemingly non-vomiting Yu Linlang and her servant stood out…

Mu Zhao and Lu Qian naturally noticed this expressionless duo.

Their composure was unnatural.

Mu Zhao thought to himself that Miss Yu had just examined the infant’s body with such skill and openness that she was likely an expert.

Thinking of this, he simply led Lu Qian over.

Halfway through, perhaps feeling that it was a bit rude for them to approach the young woman to speak, he had the Governor, who was still vomiting, taken over to speak with him.

“Master Yu, please help me ask your daughter where this body came from and whether she saw any suspicious people just now.”

Lu Qian had just heard from others that Miss Yu had examined the body of a baby. Except for some unclear words, the result was almost exactly the same as what the coroner, Old Li, said.

She must be a person with a meticulous mind who knew how to examine things.

So he followed the prince’s gaze and looked at Master Yu who was still retching.

Master Yu was vomiting uncomfortably and felt that this behavior was not elegant in front of two nobles on the street.

But when asked by Prince Mu Zhao, he almost forgot to vomit, and looked at the two of them with a dazed face, “Who? Prince, who are you talking about? Whose girl?”

Mu Feng, holding a jade bucket for vomiting, moved to Yu Shoudao in small steps. He resisted the urge to vomit and blinked his eyes, “Master Yu, you? You don’t even recognize your own daughter!”

Yu Shoudao was shocked and turned to look at the expressionless Yu Linlang. Then he quickly covered his face with his sleeves and retched twice more.

Mu Feng felt a tightness in his chest when he heard him vomiting, but he had almost vomited everything and there was nothing left to vomit. So, like the governor, he held the bucket and continued to retch…

While retching, he kept talking, “Master Yu, are you not wrong? Your daughter introduced herself on the street and said she is the daughter of your governor’s mansion. Ugh… You don’t even recognize her? What kind of father and daughter are you? Ugh…”

Lu Qian cast a helpless look at Prince Mu.

The latter was even more helpless. He patted his naughty brother’s head with a mixture of amusement and anger, “Don’t mess around. Chang Qing, take the young master to the carriage and keep him there.” Yu Shoudao resisted the urge to vomit. While thinking hard, his mind suddenly became clear and his eyes suddenly lit up.

“You, you are Linlang, right? Ah, it’s Linlang who is back, ugh…”

Yu Shoudao couldn’t hold it in any longer. He didn’t have time to say a few words to his daughter before he went to the side to vomit again.

Yu Linlang glanced at him coldly, then retracted her gaze and gave a half-hearted salute to Prince Mu and the others.

“Just now, I and the maid were in the carriage and didn’t see how the body appeared. I just heard a loud bang and the body fell there.”

Yu Linlang pointed to a building opposite, “So it is very likely that it was thrown from there. The specific situation is not clear.”

The two looked in the direction she pointed and saw that the windows on the third floor were wide open. They hurriedly called the guards to go to the small building opposite to check.

Yu Linlang was a little tired, so she left Jiu Jin to guard outside and got in the carriage to rest.

After the vomiting sounds of the onlookers gradually stopped, many panicked voices emerged, “It must be a demon causing trouble.”

“Yes, yes, otherwise how could it be so horrible, digging out the heart, lungs and liver and eating them.”

“Mother, are there really demons in this world?”

“Don’t talk nonsense, kid, it will attract unclean things.”

Yu Linlang raised her hand to press her head and lifted a corner of the curtain, “Jiu Jin, go and ask when we can leave.”

Jiu Jin asked around and quickly replied, “Miss, they said we can leave soon. After a preliminary examination of the body, it has been transported to the governor’s office.”

“Maybe a second inspection is needed. It is said that the deceased was about forty years old. His identity has not been confirmed yet. The government office should send someone to visit and inquire later.”

Seeing that Yu Linlang’s face was indifferent and she seemed to have no intention of listening, Jiu Jin stopped talking, lowered the curtain and urged the coachman, “We should be able to leave. Let’s go back home. The young lady must be tired.”

Yu Shoudao hurriedly led people forward at this time, lifted the curtain and glanced at his daughter.

“My lord, is there anything else?” Yu Linlang was in a bad mood and raised her eyebrows when she saw this.

Yu Shoudao heard her cold voice, not even wanting to call him father, and could not help but sigh, “Linlang, go back to the mansion with Mama Hu and the others first.”

“The family thought you could enter the city two days ago, and everything has been prepared for you.”

“Your mother has been waiting for you at home for a long time, go back first.”

Yu Shoudao felt that he was being caring and concerned, but in the end, he did not wait for a word of reply from his daughter.

Seeing that she was just staring at him with cold eyes and nodded slightly, Yu Shoudao did not know what to say for a moment.

Finally, he felt a little guilty and sighed, “Go.”
