Daisy Durr was not surprised to be rejected. She just smiled and said, “That’s such a pity.”

Then she stood up gracefully and said, “Your Highness, you can wander around the Chamber of Commerce at will. I’ll pay for everything.”

After she left, Anos looked at Luo Mi, who looked disappointed and said, “Did you really want to have dinner with her?”

Luo Mi was stunned, and quickly rubbed his face to show his purity and integrity: “I think that since Mrs. Durr is Count Sheen’s lover, she must know many of Count Sheen’s secrets. If we try to find out from the side, maybe we can get some valuable information?”

Anos shook his head: “Mrs. Durr just said so much, but did you hear any useful information?”

Luo Mi reviewed it and found that Daisy Durr said a lot to them, and even expressed her loyalty, but she did not mention any actual useful information.

Was this a smooth businessman?

Luo Mi thought so in his heart, but he still said: “Maybe she wants to take us a deeper look at our strategy before she reveals it?”

Anos didn’t understand what “strategy” meant, but that didn’t stop him from understanding. He shook his head, his expression serious: “I won’t let my friends be in danger.”

Luo Mi was suddenly confused: “What danger?”

“Mrs. Durr looked at you three times just now.” Anos looked down at Luo Mi and reminded her solemnly, “You have to be careful.”

Luo Mi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry: “She obviously looked at you more.”

“No one can threaten me.”

Anos spoke so confidently in such a calm tone that Luo Mi didn’t know what to say. He sighed deeply to the system in his heart: “Why does Anos think that Mrs. Durr wants to threaten him?”

That beautiful lady has been clearly flirting with you, okay?

Looking at Anos’ righteous expression, Luo Mi swallowed the words of explanation back into his stomach – maybe it wasn’t a bad thing to let Anos think so, at least it was a misunderstanding.

Anos, who thought he had protected his good friend, left the Holy Chamber of Commerce contentedly and received a call from Reinhardt.

After hanging up the phone, Anos said to Luo Mi: “Reinhardt has found out the address and who the person is. We can go take a look now, and then go to the cathedral to meet Archbishop Ellis after noon.”

….

No. 11, Shuijing Street, Huang Meigui District, Losa City.

“This is an orphanage funded by the church.” Reinhardt pointed to the “Shuijing Orphanage” on the doorplate and introduced it. “Simon Minglang is a volunteer here.”

Luo Mi asked: “Is there anything special?”

Places like orphanages sounded like common scenes in horror movies.

Reinhardt shook his head. “The orphans taken in here were all abandoned. They are directly under the care of the Vatican. It’s very common everywhere. There’s nothing special about it.”

After listening to Reinhardt’s detailed introduction, Luo Mi realized that because the technology related to contraception was relatively backward and the Vatican opposed abortion, many people who had children but could not afford to raise them would secretly leave their children in the church at night or during mass.

As such incidents became more common, the Church set up orphanages to raise these children abandoned by their parents. When these children grew up, they usually worked as chores or servants in the Church, and a few had the hope of becoming official clergy.

Anos looked up at the orphanage’s house number and walked inside.

The orphanage did not cover a very large area, but there were quite a few orphans. The oldest ones were thirteen or fourteen years old, but the younger ones still needed volunteers or nuns to hold them and feed them.

Reinhardt introduced Anos, “The current director of the Shuijing Orphanage is Ronald Durr, a branch member of the noble Durr family in Losa City. He was entrusted by the Church to manage the orphanage. But he doesn’t come here often, so the orphanage’s affairs are basically decided by the volunteers and nuns here.”

Luo Mi touched his chin: “The Durr family again?”

Anos frowned slightly: “The relationship between the Durr family and the Church is so close?”

Reinhardt had already inquired in advance: “The Durr family was originally just a small noble family on the verge of bankruptcy, but later they suddenly gained the favor of Count Sheen and were recommended to the Holy See by the Count. They took over the management of some industries related to the Holy See and gradually prospered.”

He paused, as if considering whether to say the following words, but finally said, “It is rumored that Madam Durr is a socialite who combines beauty and means. She mediates between many nobles, which has given the family many opportunities.”

Anos obviously couldn’t accept this, and frowned and asked, “Where’s her husband?”

Reinhardt said tactfully: “I heard that Mr. Durr has good looks and eloquence, and is on good terms with many noble ladies, but his reputation is not as wide as Mrs. Durr’s.”

Luo Mi understood: The Durrs were both socialites! This was really a perfect match.

Anos fell silent, turned his head and looked at Luo Mi: “It was right not to let you get along with Daisy Durr.”

Luo Mi pulled the corner of his mouth, wanting to say, “What does it have to do with me?” Whether in terms of appearance or status, it was obvious that His Royal Highness the Holy Son of the Holy See was more valuable, right?

Reinhardt glanced at them in surprise, and without asking any further questions, he only said, “I have already talked to the volunteers at the orphanage. Simon Minglang will go to buy food for the children in the morning and should be back soon.”

….

Simon Minglang was a young man in his twenties, less than 1.7 meters tall, with dry yellow hair cut casually short. When he was called in front of Anos and the others, he seemed a little afraid and looked at the nun beside him anxiously.

The nun patted his arm soothingly.

Luo Mi looked at Simon carefully but couldn’t see anything special about him.

“He doesn’t look like Count Sheen…” Luo Mi muttered, “He doesn’t look like Count Sheen’s illegitimate son.”

Reinhardt almost laughed out loud: “Count Sheen is only 31 years old, how could he have such a big illegitimate child.”

Luo Mi was just saying it casually. After all, the possibility of this being the case was higher as it allowed Count Sheen to communicate with his lover late at night.

At this moment, the system suddenly spoke in his heart:

[Reminding the host that the person in front of him meets the host’s mission completion conditions.]

Luo Mi was stunned: “Mission? Which one?”

He immediately responded without the system reminding him, “Simon Minglang is the ‘Chosen One’?”

The concept of “God’s Chosen One” saved his life when he first traveled through time, but later because no one mentioned it, Luo Mi completely forgot about it.

He subconsciously looked at Anos.

Anos’s blue eyes were indeed filled with surprise. He stretched out his hand and made a cross on his chest, then said softly, “Come in front of me.”

Simon looked at the nun and walked carefully to Anos.

Anos recited a few prayers just like he did to John. He gently tapped Simon’s forehead and shoulders with his fingers, then opened his eyes with satisfaction: “God arranged for us to meet here, so that I can find another chosen one.”

At the same time, the system’s announcement sounded in Luo Mi’s mind:

[Task progress update: Help the Church find more “Chosen Ones” (2/).]

[Progress update reward: 10 points.]

Another 10 points!

Luo Mi only had 5 points before, but it increased a lot all of a sudden, which immediately made him feel at ease.
