After he finished, he lay back on the bed and looked at his watch. It was already two o’clock in the night.

He took the phone and planned to send a text message to Uncle Xiao, Wang Feng and the others, but found an unread text message.

After taking a look at it, Yan Sui got up from the bed again. He put on his clothes, walked to the small balcony outside the bedroom, and then dialed the number.

“What’s the matter?”

There was also a man’s voice on the other side. At this time, his voice still didn’t seem tired at all. He didn’t say much and just said what he wanted to say. “My people told me, Su Siyu, there’s something unusual today.”

“Saw TV?” Yan Sui responded very quickly. As soon as he asked, there was silence, just as Yan Sui had guessed.

The other side paused and continued, “After seeing it, he smashed everything that could be smashed in the place where he lived, and then he became quiet again. My person can’t say anything about what he plans to do next, but he has basically gained his trust.”

“If he plans to go to Licheng next, just let him go.”

Yan Sui then hung up the phone and stood on the balcony again. After a while, he walked into the room.

Meng Ting was really tired and didn’t notice Yan Sui leaving. Yan Sui looked at Meng Ting carefully and found that he didn’t seem to be sleeping well because of his leaving. A warm color appeared on his face again. He pulled the quilt, hugged the person, and closed his eyes.

The next day, apart from Mr. Xiao, who went to bed early, there were no other early risers in the Yan family, especially Yan Sui and Meng Ting. It was almost nine o’clock when they came downstairs. Mr. Xiao, who was most particular about going to bed early and getting up early to maintain good health, had a curly beard. He frowned, but still didn’t say anything to teach them a lesson.

But when Meng Ting sat down on the sofa after breakfast, Mr. Xiao spoke again, “Pack your stuff up and come back to Beicheng with us.”

Meng Ting looked stunned for a moment, turned his head and looked at Mr. Xiao, and then looked at the door. Yan Sui was talking to Xiao Huimin, but before he could answer anything, Mr. Xiao spoke again.

“Only when you return to the Xiao family can you help him. Otherwise, why would the Xiao family deal with the Yan family for you? You have to know that the Yan family can stand for these years, so it is not that easy to move him. If there is no Xiao family, the Yan boy would have a tough battle to fight.”

Even the Xu family on his grandmother’s side chose to sit back and do nothing, so how dare other families intervene. Even the Zhong family who had a good relationship with the Yan family, had not expressed any opinions until now, and even Zhong Ming had not said anything. He didn’t dare to suggest to Yan Sui that he would persuade his grandfather to help him.

Matters related to the interests of the family were not so easy to decide. It would be considered kind for other families not to take advantage of the situation.

Mr. Xiao’s words were actually quite pertinent, but Meng Ting’s eyes remained unchanged. He shook his head gently, “I believe in Yan Sui, even without your help, he can do whatever he wants to do.”

“He won’t want me to leave, I know.”

Meng Ting’s trust in Yan Sui was completely beyond Mr. Xiao’s expectations. He was frightened by Mr. Xiao’s analysis, but he still couldn’t change his decision. He lowered his eyes and then raised his eyes to look at Mr. Xiao, “I won’t leave. If you don’t want to help, there’s no need to force yourself.”

“If mom and dad like me, they can still visit me, but I will never leave Yan Sui or Haicheng.”

Meng Ting knew that his decision might seem selfish to outsiders, but he just didn’t want to. He would rather he and Yan Sui work harder than do something unwilling to get help.

It could be said that Mr. Xiao’s words completely wiped away all the hard-earned goodwill Meng Ting had towards Mr. Xiao.

Mr. Xiao’s beard curled up again. He looked at Meng Ting. It seemed that at this moment, he could clearly see what he looked like and what his temperament was. He looked simple, but in fact he was not easy to fool at all.

“You mean, if the Xiao family doesn’t help Yan Sui, you won’t recognize your ancestors and return to the clan?”

Meng Ting and Mr. Xiao didn’t know how many generations there were between them. Meng Ting couldn’t understand what he said, “Why? Would it only count if I leave Yan Sui and go to Beicheng? I recognized my parents, doesn’t it count?”

Meng Ting felt a little sad again. He looked up at Ning Zhou, who was bringing a plate of fruit, and saw her with some regrets. Suddenly they dispersed again. He probably didn’t have the fate of parents and relatives in his life. Since he didn’t, there was no need to force it.

“I understand.”

After Meng Ting said this, he pursed his lips and did not intend to say anything to Mr. Xiao.

However, Mr. Xiao didn’t know what Meng Ting understood. He naturally meant what he said. In his opinion, there was a big difference between whether Meng Ting returned to Beicheng or not.

If Meng Ting returned to Beicheng, the situation would not be as optimistic as expected. It would be easy for the Xiao family to escape, otherwise Xiao Huimin and Ning Zhou would definitely protect Meng Ting and Yan Sui to the end.

He said this because he could see that Meng Ting had a deep affection for Yan Sui, but the deeper his feelings were, the more he should sacrifice for Yan Sui. Why did he refuse to go back to Beicheng for him? Mr. Xiao really wanted to but couldn’t make sense of it.

It was not easy for them to get the opportunity to talk like this. Ning Zhou came over with fruits, but Mr. Xiao didn’t say anything and continued to watch TV.

But Meng Ting didn’t have that tacit understanding. When Ning Zhou sat down and wanted to raise her hand to touch Meng Ting’s hair, he avoided it.

Not only did he avoid it, he also stood up, pursed his lips, and walked towards Yan Sui.

“What’s wrong with Nuo Nuo?” Ning Zhou felt lost and depressed. She looked at Mr. Xiao, a little thoughtful, and her face looked bad. “Dad, what did you say to Zinuo?”

Ning Zhou’s voice was loud, and then she stood up, with a look of anger on her face. Yan Sui and Xiao Huimin who were talking at the door both looked over, but Yan Sui immediately looked at Meng Ting, who was walking towards him, and then held Meng Ting in his hand. His hands were clenched into fists unconsciously.

Yan Sui nodded gently to Xiao Huimin, then he took Meng Ting out of the living room, and they went to the garden to talk.

But in fact, they walked a long way, but Meng Ting didn’t say anything. Yan Sui still waited patiently, and waited until Meng Ting let out a gentle sigh, and then they stopped.

Meng Ting raised his eyes to look at Yan Sui, then stretched out his arms to hug him, “Yan Sui, I’m sorry, I rejected grandpa.”

“He said he wanted me to go back to Beicheng with him and recognize our ancestors before he would help you. I refused.”

He was willing to do anything for Yan Sui, but there was a prerequisite that Yan Sui was willing to let him do it. In exchange for Xiao’s help, Yan Sui would not be willing to let him do it. Even if Meng Ting didn’t ask Yan Sui, he still knew.

This was not only Yan Sui’s reluctance to part with him, but also Yan Sui’s own pride. He would not want this.

There was no look of surprise on Yan Sui’s face when he heard this. He gently rubbed the back of Meng Ting’s neck. A slight smile appeared on the corner of his mouth, as if he was afraid that Meng Ting wouldn’t feel it. He raised Meng Ting’s face, kissed him on his lips and said, “I’m not sorry. If you hadn’t refused, then I would have been unhappy.”

To be precise, Yan Sui was still very happy now, because Meng Ting really understood him. This feeling of spiritual connection was quite wonderful and rare, he could never feel it with anyone else except Meng Ting in his life.

“Thank you, thank you for believing in me.”

Meng Ting had followed Yan Sui for so long, and he no longer felt as uncomfortable as he did in the living room, but there was still a tight breath in his chest, but now these words from Yan Sui made it disperse in just two seconds.

Meng Ting hugged Yan Sui tighter, “No matter what the circumstances, I will never leave you, and you don’t chase me away. Although I won’t leave, I will feel sad, so don’t rush me.”

“Well,” Yan Sui was silent for a moment, and then responded. He knew what Meng Ting was telling him. He refused to leave for any reason even if it was good for him. No matter poverty, or even danger, Meng Ting would not leave.

In the living room of Yan mansion, even as Xiao Huimin and Ning Zhou looked increasingly bad, Mr. Xiao was still watching the TV calmly. He knew that no matter how angry Xiao Huimin and Ning Zhou were, they would not refute him on his face. But even so, he still felt frustrated.

Meng Ting’s reaction was not at all what he expected, but he was still waiting for the outcome of his discussion with Yan Sui.

Half an hour later, Yan Sui and Meng Ting came back. Yan Sui’s expression did not change much, but Meng Ting had lowered his head and did not look at anyone.

Mr. Xiao’s beard curled up, and he understood in his heart, but there was still some dissatisfaction in his expression. However, Yan Sui’s words quickly refuted Mr. Xiao’s self-righteousness.

“Tingting will stay in Haicheng and stay with me. No matter what happens, he will face it with me.”

Yan Sui talked directly to Mr. Xiao, and then he said, “I don’t need help to deal with the Yan family.”

“Why are you still…” Xiao Huimin looked at Yan Sui speechlessly. This was what he and Yan Sui were talking about at the door. He asked Yan Sui about his plan, and Yan Sui told him that he didn’t need help, but when he said it now, it made him depressed.

“Grandpa said he wanted me to go back to Beicheng to recognize my ancestors, and in return he offered help. I refused, and Yan Sui agreed.”

Meng Ting interrupted. They didn’t want Xiao’s help, so there was no reason for them to feel that they were still owed a favor.

“If Mom and Dad miss me, you can come and see me… Beicheng, I won’t go.”

Meng Ting didn’t want to vent his anger on Xiao Huimin and Ning Zhou, but now he was in a strange mood, so he said it with an unfamiliar politeness as if they were strangers.

Ning Zhou looked at Meng Ting, tears welling up in her eyes again, but Meng Ting only glanced at her and lowered his head again.

After a while, he raised his head again and said seriously, “You don’t need to feel that you owe me anything, and you don’t need to do anything specially for me. As I said, you don’t have to force yourself if you don’t like me.”

“Why, why did it become forced?”

After Meng Ting finished speaking, Ning Zhou sat back on the sofa. She looked at Mr. Xiao, but her upbringing prevented her from being angry with an elder, but she was not willing to let Meng Ting be so alienated from her.

She looked at Meng Ting, with a hint of pleading in her expression and tone, “Mom doesn’t want to leave, can I stay here with you?”

Meng Ting looked up at Ning Zhou, then at Yan Sui, and he nodded and said, “I’m sorry, I don’t know how to speak and I made you sad.”

“No, it’s mother’s fault. It’s your mother’s fault.”

Ning Zhou came over and took Meng Ting’s hand, then took a step aside and stood next to him. From his side, she looked at Xiao Huimin with a determined look.

Ning Zhou had a bad premonition when she got to know that Mr. Xiao was coming to Haicheng. Sure enough, she bit her lip and looked at Yan Sui. He had probably expected Mr. Xiao’s reaction earlier than they did.

If Mr. Xiao was surprised before, then he was shocked now. He wanted to take Meng Ting away so as to not be controlled by others, but now he had caused the head and mistress of the Xiao family to stay in Haicheng.
